Shit gameplay can't be game of the decade. It wasn't even goty honestly.
Silent Hill is a play on WASP's in America. What was once a prosperous time declined throughout the 20th century.
Of all time retard
expand on this please
Do you mean the music video type attract mode that plays on the title screen? Or the shot of James touching his face in the mirror?
james in the mirror
Check out Simulacrum: Chapter One if you're into SH 2/3. A pretty damn good indie game that nails the aesthetic, and has some decent puzzles too.
I didn't, same as DMC 3
>9 years of age
>no internet
>picked up some literal who game from a friend
>"yeah dude, it's like a spooky game"
>first time hearing about games being spooky
>shat bricks on the first foggy road to the city
>was too scared to walk around the corner, had my dad sit next to me telling me that's it okay while laughing his fucking ass off
>stuck for 2 days trying to solve that retarded "combine 3 into 1 for the key lmao" puzzle
>beat this shitty fridge looking boss
>was so happy I started jumping around the house and was banned from using a computer to a week
>replayed it several times during later years, picking up on all the story and shit
>thought it was a no name game that no one knows aside from me like ghost master until I went on the internet
DMC3 was the same shit, I still can't believe how lucky I was to get a hold of these two games so early.
More like game of the century since no horror game has yet to surpass it.
Is the story any good?
Look at the characters and the enviroronment. It's a play of the decline of Whites (especially anglo descent in the 2000's). Even there names are mostly Anglo.
unironically might be one of my favourite pieces of music ever
It's pretty short because this is like a demo, but it seems decent. The writing at the beginning while you're exploring the MC's apartment is pretty pretentious. The story seems to have something to do with you looking for your mother who you thought died, and is somehow caught up in the dealings with a weird cult. I look forward to when they make the rest of the game, though.
When it won the Game Of The Decade
>It takes 3 to 4 hours to render one second of footage
We have come so fucking far.
there's an old americana aspect to the town, yeah. and there is a conspicuous lack of minorities. don't think it's race specific though
streets/apartments
people shit on apartments for some reason (pacing?) but its one of the most iconic areas and has some of the best parts of the series
Just another all-American town...
How much new content is in the Greatest Hits/Xbox version?
Bad pacing, poor ramp up into spooky. I could see where they don't really scratch the itch and have an annoying layout for roaming around.
DMC1 and SH1 were better though
>you looking for your mother who you thought died, and is somehow caught up in the dealings with a weird cult
haha, thanks, i won't even think about looking into this shit now
No
It's how I interpret it though. We have been losing power in every institution and even on a familial level. Just listen to the soundtrack and tell me to two don't match. You have run down towns across.
when I hit start and it played that beautifully hypnotic sound
The voice acting is pretty subpar and they have their own version of Pyramid Head too. The environments, music/ambience, and the puzzles are probably where it shines most.
1 had great enemy variety
why would people waste their time on recreating old things? Do they think they can make better sh2 than the one what already exist?
>sheryl lee
Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks.
thou possess them
to guard thy spirit
evoke five rites
unveil thy fate
what decade?
And yet 2 didn't.
Silent Hill is effectively dead, so my guess is they're trying to continue where Konami will not.
>you will never play silent hill 2 for the first time again
Continue? it doesn't look like continue, more like blatant copy. Konami can sue them for that game.
Don't think you can copyright grungy and dark places with grates. Nor foggy places. Though I am worried their menu sound effects are just the original Silent Hill sound effects played an octave lower.
Anyone have that long photo explaining the best way to emulate each game?
>mfw knew I was in for a treat right after the letter was read and it started to play that guitar riff
Also Leave best ending
This game is straight up bone chilling, slow burn, and atmospheric as fuck. Little to no jumpscares too.
you have to post the links too
Probably when I heard the corridor conversation and seen the tape. I didn't expect to get such an emotional hit at the end with the letter.
still, they're taking from sh2 too much, even PH. Nobody liked any version of PH in western games, why would anyone try to have one in their game at this point?

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! Don't install under C:\Program Files\ !
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the teeth, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.
>Protips
-Play in the release order
-Never play below Normal difficulty
-Replaying them all is recommended
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help
Its literally a game about white people drowning in shit. The otherworld is shit. The monsters are made of shit. Only the characters are lily white people.
In every game there is a scene where you have to fish something out of a toilet with your hand.
It's okay to have your own interpretations but that just seems like such a huge stretch to say it was the original intention. They might've even just used white characters because it would be more appealing to the NA and EU markets. It would also seem kind of silly to apply the same meaning to Earthbound even though there are some similar themes.
Some Japanese people are also just infatuated with western culture too, "westaboo" didn't come out of nowhere. Kamiya obviously liked western culture and that influenced a lot of DMC1, but it doesn't mean any of the game was a deeper meaning about the decline of white people. Most of the games have happy endings too, or at least with SH2 a potential happy ending.
