At this point I'd say wait for the remaster and see what they do with the battle speeds like they did for 7 and 9. I'm currently playing through 9 again and the game is really baby easy because JRPGs have reall come a long way from "Dungeon comprising of five screens that take 3 seconds to traverse each".

The summons in 8 are ungodly unbearable at this point without a fast forward option. But if you're gonna break the game, you don't even need to use them at all

It polishes the formula. The weapons are all extremely useful, and enemies have different weaknesses to them, which allows for a better gameplay through. You could use one weapon to zoom past a pit, or another to light up the area so you can see the enemies and traps.

The new Gear system is fun, but it's not essential and you can progress through the game without it just fine if it's not your cup of tea. It's convenient though if you want to pick a weapon on the fly without going to the pause menu.

It's just got a lot of nice QoL changes like that which add up to make a more refined Mega Man game. I can't guarantee it's a 10/10 game for someone new to the series, but it's my personal favorite of the bunch.
