Speedrunning is interesting if it's fun to watch. Nobody gives a shit about some guy at GDQ speedrunning an obscure ass game in 10 minutes. RPG speedruns are also boring as fuck unless they're not turn-based.
What's really bad about speedrunning is not the act itself, but seeing all these speedrunners lose the ability to analyze a game other than its ease/ability to be speedrun. You can see it in certain people's eyes and mannerisms that they cannot be excited about new games anymore after years of speedrunning ocarina or megaman or whatever
