If you spend your first year or two coming up with things your predecessor didn't do, and only you can do, you'll make yourself invaluable, and you'll never be considered for a budget cut.
Also with the things you can buy territory, you're probably going to want to get a house in a year or two, instead of paying rent or w/e you're doing right now. If you plant to stay single you can rent one of the bedrooms out, and you'll find that offsets your mortgage to the point where it's cheaper than rent was.

Game: The most I could ever imagine paying for any videogame is about a hundo. That $100 includes ALL forms of DLC or added purchase, and the game must be godlike to deserve that, basically custom-made-for-me tier. I rarely pay more than $20 for games.

System: Depends on how much total benefit the system can give to me, benefit being defined as a combination of access to games I want, convenience and comfort of use, sheer power, and "other".
