Seriously, imagine an open world with Metroid style progression and setting. Super diverse, interconnected biomes, but instead of "door that needs X upgrade" it's stuff like a cliff you need a spider ball to scale or even a space pirate warship that flys around the map causing trouble, that you can optionally assault, but only after getting and upgrading your ship enough. Imagine armor durability for specific parts, with shields that can be recharged on your ship or base, but that require repairs and even modifications that consume materials or money. The modularity inherent with Samus, compounded by traditional gameplay possible with the zero suit, could easily blow away BoTW in terms of progression and suspension of disbelief. Instead of set towns, you could have passing federation ships that you can resupply and get sidequests from, this allowing for writing and human characters to interact with, but still beeping the open world an oppressive, hostile place at all times. There's no fast travel, but you could have your ship, which is balanced by you only getting one, which could be shot down at any moment. There's so much potential for progression it's absurd. You could please literally everyone at once. Have different suits and Zero suits with both cosmetic and practical mods to get both RPG people, Metriodvania fans, and waifufags on board at once. Make Samus a truly customizable model, from weapons and abilities, to haircuts and clothing, but keep her personality true to the canon. You could get so much out of this without having to resort to Bethesda "fight some drauger/ghouls" padding. It boggles the mind that after BoTW proved people can take even "okay" open worlds and buy them like hot cakes that Nintendo didn't instantly go to the series most analogous to the concept.
