The story is run of the mill and the artstyle is bland as fuck but the gameplay is a straight 10/10. One of the best character action games I've played in that regard.
Plus, it was made by literally one dude so everything except the gampelay sucking ass is more understandable

If you look at the actual laws, yes they might get some awkward questions, but at worst they'd probably get a slap on the wrist. The thing is, the laws about sleeping with underage people in Japan isn't balanced for males and females. To put it bluntly, if you're an older guy fucking an underage chick, yes you're fucked and you're going to jail. However with, say Kawakami and Joker, she just wouldn't be punished nearly as bad, I don't even think there's jailtime associated. Heck if they just keep it on the down-low for like a year, they can just be public with it.

I don't think that's true at all, it seems pretty rare but the few times it does happen every once in awhile it gets plastered all over the media making it seem worse than it is.

Essentially what the other user said, plus Joker’s 16-17 (even states in America have this as the age of consent) so he doesn’t have to hide it that long. Kawakami is more likely to have consequences and specific laws against her just on the basis that she’s a teacher (which puts her in a position of power over him, which is sus even though he’s obviously the one that instigated the relationship, that’s why she’s nervous and doubtful all the time).
As for snitching, Sojiro most definitely knows what’s going on but he’s a ladies’ man himself so he’s probably more impressed/jealous that Joker managed to snag a qt goth twice his age than anything.
