No. Minimap is used to tell where your teammates are so you know where the enemy is spawning. Remove the red dots so dot chasers can fuck off but removing the minimap is definitely a mistake.

That's the big problem with CoD, with CoD 4 they've turned the series into a braindead run & gun twitch shooter.
Treyarch tried to change the gameplay with the addition of the fog of war to force players to move as a group but I don't know how it was received (I haven't played BO4).
Sledgehammer also tried to change the gameplay in WW2 by adding a class system (the Divisions) but they abandonned the concept a few months later since everybody was running around with a shotgun with incendiary shells.
