How is it that almost no characters in this game are even close to being as well designed as any character in Skullgirls? Even the dullest characters in the DLC voting poll for Skullgirls have way more personality than all but one or two of the designs in this game. A bunch of the characters even look worse than when they were first revealed. I still backed it because I loved Skullgirls but fuck, watching that trailer I'm not optimistic. From checking my email it looks like I stopped reading backer emails back in 2017. They should have done something smaller that plays to their strengths more. This game looks like nobody has had any fun making it at all.

The original designs looked better, so it just has to be some sort of cost reducing measure.

This looks like absolutely nothing special. The RPG systems would have to be fantastic to sell me on it. If they're capable of spending that much time and effort on high-fidelity assets, they should have just made another fighting game or an adventure game or something. A Rune Factory clone. Something, anything that would actually use the great character art and animations better than a platformer RPG.
