Division and multiplication don't override one another. Just left to right
Jonathan Price
Reminder no one uses division symbols and everything should be in fractions
Christopher Ward
You do the parentheses first
Carter Lopez
Its not tomorrow morning yet...
Jordan Morris
brackets take priority

16. What a dumb question.
Zachary Clark
8/2=4
4*(2+2)
You would get 16 you idiot
Ayden Cook
Everyone knows that, it's basic Math 101
It's used in these kinds of threads and images to bait people
Luis Reyes
But if you had 50% chance of having Mankey as a result and then Monty opened a non switch trashcan for you, how old would be Ash?
Logan Murphy
Ash is always 10 years old, universal constant.

Are you braindead?
You get to
>8/2(2+2)
>8/2*4
and go left to right because multiplication nor division take precedence over one another.
That's elementary school knowledge.
Joshua Ortiz

Its one because the parentheses goes first

Its not always left to right.

You are assuming 8/(2(2+2))
and you are wrong

I would think in real world not facebook argument starting math, if it was meant to be 1, there would be context to it where it could be solved as multiple small problems or it would be written as 8/(2(2+2))to remove confusion.

>PEMDAS

American education, everyone
Evan Peterson
pemdas is misleading. it means parenthesis, then exponents, then multiplication AND division, then addition AND subtraction.
it makes more sense when you remember that multiplication and division are two sides of the same coin, similarly subtraction and addition.
Ryan Murphy
2(2+2) is 2*(2+2)
you don't distribute when it's not the only operation to be done.
Adrian James
I thought that was always assumed.
Bentley Bennett
At this point I don't know if Yea Forums actually doesn't know how to do math beyond a third grade level or if they're just baiting
Austin Hall
This is v there's no need to try to reason with those retards
