If you have and underrail 1 save it's literally your character at the end of the game with all the equipment. Otherwise like other user said some random lvl 30 archetype.

Temporal manipulation is a bit shit, I dumped like 80 points into it and deeply regret

Metathermics/thought control/PK are all pretty good though

I'm doing a hybrid knife/psi rn and it seems like unless you're going for a backup weapon like me you can drop mechanics and chemistry all together to pick two schools. I've found crafting to be pretty useful especially early game but you can considering dropping it aside from electronics and bio which you need to craft some psi-enhancing gear and drugs. As for stats I've seen a lot of people dump everything except Int and Will but you'd probably be better off just dumping perception and strength and putting that in Will/Int

TM has the best damage ability in the game which increases in damage with every cast and ignore shields and 50% of resistances is split 50/50 into energy and mechanical damage component. so no TM is not debuff school. It can reduce your cooldown put you into 2 turn invulnerability and most importantly give you free action points. It's actually the best school for doing damage. thought control is for cc. psychokinesis is good utility chool also and metathermics is the "damage" school as in it has a lot of garbage damage spells and some good ones.

why do all those psi gods don't invest in stealth? I understand skill points are tight on psi gods, do you guys just pop up shields every time you think the enemy is near

Some builds invest, some builds don't. On 4 school wizard it's redundand since you have answers to every enemy action. On something more subdued like 2 school builds you can invest into stealth easily. With crafting you can reach over 100 stealth easily with zero investment if you want to.

The biggest problem is that psi synergises with CON better than AGI thanks to Fast Metabolism.

Mostly not worth it.

For example, getting 15 (not 20) AP and 30 MP costs 65 psi.

It's 20 with specialization and it's like 38 psi on Tranquility builds.
It's very well damn worth it.

you can put points in stealth if you go TM/TC tranq build in fact. it provides a shitton of spare points. in fact i'm gonna post the build here so everyone can enjoy it if they want. The unspent points you can put towards anything you want and the build will work. (utilize flashbangs before you get LoC).

Distortion goes into 6k damage territory, possibly 10k damage territory if you minmax it right. Half of its damage is completely irresistable. It's by far the best nuke in the game and its only tradeoff is 2 turn prep time.
Fireball is actually pretty shit for anything other than crowd control and neural overload has completely different utility.

I was thinking about why this game doesn't have the same narrative impact that Fallout has. I would not pin it down to bad writing; if anything, it's well written, quests make sense, motivations make sense, it's grim and when it's wacky it doesn't get too random.

Map design? Nope, it's even better than Fallout, environments sport fantastic attention to detail. In fact I think it's the best design in isometric (Infinity Engine [pseudo]) RPG history.

What, then?

Bobbleheads. Fallout has some of its character zoomed in, taking much of the screen real estate while they talk. It makes them more memorable. Underrail would profit narratively if it had something similar for people like Tanner, Ezra etc.

nah bro there is a lot of enemies that are resistant to each other. Then it is much better to MB --> distortion stack. But yeah LoC --> Enrage --> distortion stack works also if you cast enrage from far away(enraged enemies target people closest to themselves)

True, that's why you spread the distortions around the main target on the second turn so when it triggers and kills the main target, additional ripples jump to everyone around exploding most of the battlefield after one more turn.

It seems the most popular (pre-Expedition at least) guns/psi build is sniper rifles with Thought Control and Psychokinesis. Would any other guns work in a build like that? I'm not sure I want to use sniper rifles although I don't mind using stealth.

Reading these threads made me realize that Underrail is a game where CON doesn't matter unless you want a specific feat, where dodge, evasion, lockpick and hacking represent dump stats, where tailoring is top of the line skill to have and crafting is an elite section of your character sheet; and that neglecting the aforementioned dead ends results in several distinct and viable builds, from fists through force to firearms.

because you use a feat called flurry to get more attacks in less time, and another called onslaught so that each successive hit deals even more damage
but if you miss, flurry ends and goes on a 3 round cooldown, whereas onslaught starts over at 0

a machete's damage is usually 1.5 to 2x that of a knife (higher later in the game), but its attack speed is about twice as much, and even worse later on assuming the knife user maxes dex, but with flurry its possible to get your attacks down to 3.33 ap per attack (the normal minimum is 4, even for the lightest/fastest weapons, aside from burst weapons like smgs and AR's)

a knife user will eventually have 4 or 5 ap attacks, but his damage never ramps up dramatically, at least compared to a machete without onslaught, and the machete's potential is maybe the highest in the game
also the crit damage on machetes is a lot higher and it's possible to get both machete and knife crit chance up very high (it's possible to actually have over 100% crit chance on a knife build)

In the south, yeah. It's filled to the brim with totally-not Biocorp members, has several smaller stations allied with it acting as meatshields (and being reliant on SGS for metro access), and has a good defensible position away from the access points of the Upper/North

I can attest that SMGs are pretty boring, you just set up heavy burst spam and shred everything. Spears are pretty fun, as is pure Psi on Dominating, it's boring below that difficulty but on Dominating the game has enough bullshit to counteract Psi's own bullshit so it ends up pretty fun.

you can reduce cooldown on everything with increment. if you get future orientation you can reduce the cooldown more often. you can get AP from contraction and if you get acceleration you gen get even more.

it is, it's just a random encounter, there are several of those encounters in the game, this one is one of the rarest to trigger because nobody knows if it only happens the first time you go to depot A or if once you clear it then it has a chance to spawn when enemies respawn in that area

how the hell do vendor inventories work exactly? I noticed before that they roll their shop inventories when you enter the map and will have that for the next hour and a half, before resetting again. So, you can keep loading the autosave from when you enter the tile to keep re-rolling their inventory. Or so you would think. I've been re-rolling Ezra's inventory for maybe two minutes now and noticed something fishy. He does gain new things in his inventory, and swaps around the available items every time I load my game, but I noticed that the parts I was looking for (high qual universal psi module and mufflers) don't actually seem to "re-roll" and are instead drawn from a hidden inventory and either show or vanish when you load the game.

I noticed this because the qualities don't vary. at most he's had 2 mufflers, quality 54 and 56. And 3 universal psi modulators, quality 44, 72, and 118. Every time I load, one of those might disappear, but load my game again and he might have all 5. they're the same quality every time. What's up with this shit?

You can use cheat engine to change your stats, skills, level, and exp. You can level up and give yourself a lot of feat points and then reset your level, but you can never remove feats.

At the very least you will get tons of loot that will help you get supplies to take on more challenges and craft some things that your build might need

Oddity is like an extra hard mode really with how slow you level in comparison to classic.
I kind of want to just restart on classic with an easier build.

And I'm saying both are fine. Imo you should play on oddity first time and then on classic to try out different builds. Also I would argue that until like level 12-14 you level much faster on oddity and you can skip many fights. On classic you're forced to kill everything or you're losing out on exp.

I would decide if you wanna do a burst or non burst shotgun build first.
Normal shotguns don't burst, combat shotguns do.
I'm running normal shotguns all plus crit percent and crit damage, some crits do absolutely ridiculous damage.

While Yell is pretty good, specially since it can destealth crawlers, it wont be as necessary since you go psychokinesis, Yell has more value on vanilla sledgehammers. However, it's very intresting, go for it.
