The Sims (4)

What does Yea Forums think of The Sims 4, and the Sims series in general?

I really like the Sims in general, and Sims 4 mostly feels like a downgrade compared to Sims 3. The open world shit in Sims 3 was enjoyable, and the smaller world size (Where you have 5 houses or something?) in 4 is absolutely fucking brutal. I do like the visual style in 4 more though, and the performance isn't as horrible.

im waiting for sims 5 so the ladies i make will be even more attractive. and the sex mods for 5 will be most epic

good for porn mods

if you want the ironic lol meme answer, then sims 4 is great for porn

but being genuinely serious, i think my favorite sims game is the Sims 2 for DS, anyone else play that game? running around Strangetown shooting aliens with the water gun was 5-star comfy

Sims is a one of a kind series that is great for being a life sim in general as well as hobbyist architects/interior designers.

4 is a mixed bag of more bad things than good. It was really bad at release and was incredibly barebones compared to vanilla 3. After a bunch of patches and expansions it's pretty decent now, but it's as usual very expensive to "upgrade" it. Also, with every expansion you keep thinking "why can't I do this?", "why didn't they add this" or "why does it work like that?". It feels very unsatisfying to play.

Good. Criminal DLC practices

>anyone else play that game?
no bro. you are the unique one here. make sure to add to your paper of human traits which make you feel special.
im up 28 traits as of now

dang i only got 9 traits

>Sims porn
Why do people do this. Whats wrong with real women on pornhub? Unless you're gay then I understand.

Sims 4 performance being "not as horrible" is an overstatement. I can run 4 at max graphics, 1440p with massive fucking houses filled with clutter and get over 100fps constantly. 3 is a fucking trainwreck in that regard. It's a shame too since I'd play 3 instead if that wasn't the case.

understatement I meant

>get to make specific waifus to your specific taste
>tons and tons of animations to download
>retardedly easy to install

Dont you want to see your personal waifu get railed?

Understatement, but you're right. Not sure why I phrased it that way. I'm basically in the same boat as you except I don't even really play Sims 4 much, but I can't fucking stand playing Sims 3 even though I like it the best just because of the loading times and general performance.

Then again I'm also 2-3 (Or more) expansions behind on 4, so maybe I should grab the whole shebang and give it another try. Doubt it'll really scratch the itch like 3 does but maybe it'll hook me more now.

I remember The Sims 1 pretty fondly, I never played 2
3 and 4 are good (well, 4 is good *now*) but they run like complete dogshit

>The Sims 4
Cringe and microtransaction-pilled
>the Sims
Based and big titty-pilled

>Doubt it'll really scratch the itch like 3
It won't, but its improved a fair amount in the past 4 expansions.
My biggest problem with a lot of their expansions is how segregated the content can feel. The jungle shit, the new island expansion, the camping one, the Stranger Things knockoff world, etc.
The big issue with 4 is that they rarely improve the core game, only things that did were Seasons, Get Famous, Get Together kind of (groups) and Parenthood.

I'm in the same boat in regards to TS3. Even with mods on a supercomputer that shit runs like hokey ass on a hot day.
And man oh man is the world and characters ugly.

This is true. I also prefer the aesthetic in 4 more. Mostly because of the fucking potato faces and crappy lighting in 3. The ideal game would have 3's world, 4's art style, 2's charm, and 1's music.

>the Stranger Things knockoff world
Strangerville was originally a neighborhood in Sims 2.

Also I hate Get Together, it does literally nothing but buff your skill gain rates with no effort. How is that an expansion pack? It's basically just a cheat pack.

Sims 4 looks great honestly, but there is no excuse for the small ass "worlds" in it. Worst thing is even within the small world you can't visit neighborhood lots without a loading screen. It's already fully loaded, you can see the furniture through the windows, so why a fucking loading screen? Also where are my goddamn cars?

Yknow whats dumb? you can see the furniture through the windows, but then when you clip the camera into the walls, theres nothing

sims 4 is weird is all

>My biggest problem with a lot of their expansions is how segregated the content can feel.
Oh, hell. I hated that in 3, too. Tacking on shit like vacations and college (Although college was the most reasonable addition like that) is kind of a downer because after I try it out once I basically never want to do it again and just want to play the fucking Sims. I don't mind "Off the wall" stuff (I liked the Sims 1 expansion that added the genies and shit. Making Magic? I think it was the first expansion) provided it's integrated into the regular game, at least.

The graphics are grim in 3, but the combination of the open world and ESPECIALLY the addition of the "Story" mods (I forget the name off the top of my head, but the one that would add character archetypes to specific sims and dramatically improve their automated behavior was my favorite thing in the world. By itself that drives me wild with Sims 3, but combining it with porn mods on top was amazing) really makes me overlook it.

>The ideal game would have 3's world, 4's art style, 2's charm, and 1's music.
I think you probably nailed it. 2 also might've had the best general "Gameplay" of the series. I liked the open stuff in 3 (And the fact that all sims aged at the same rate, 2's half-assed implementation always annoyed the hell out of me) but I seem to recall enjoying playing Sims 2 "Normally" the most. Just making families and houses and everything.

No, not really. Maybe better lesbian kisses, and more romantic options for hanging out. But nothing ott sexual

Sims 2 was a great natural evolution from 1, especially the jump from 2D to 3D was pretty impressive at the time, but it doesn't really do anything better than 3. Very little in any case.

Costs too much for too little.
Fucking regressed between games.
Has never had a full game experience worthy of the exorbitant price of DLC.
Made all the worse by being the only Life Sim game that isn't indie trash and is instead an EA controlled shell of its former self which is arguably worse.

any Sims Castaway fans in here

stuff like the pic you posted is part of what makes sims actually worth playing though, at least when pirated. I haven't purchased a Sims game since Sims 2 and even then I just bought the base game. Actually I did purchase Sims 3 during a steam sale once but that was years after playing a pirated version.

I agree overall, but it made social shit feel a bit more meaningful being able to get people doing specific shit with eachother without having to manually add everyone to temporary groups by clicking on them

its ok

Actually just looked up Sims 4 expansions and I see they're getting a magic (((game pack))) in the Fall, so I guess I'll wait until then since I like that goofy shit.

I'd definitely believe you, because I never did go back to 2 after 3 launched, whereas I've gone back to 3 a few times after 4.

But that's the biggest problem with 4 expansions, many of them feel so incredibly lazy and aside from adding a few furniture consists mostly of gameplay tweaks instead of meaningful new content. Get Together could be a part of a free patch.

First one was comfy

it's nice

it was mostly the music

I really wanted to like the Sims 4 but the Sims 3 is just better.
Why they removed the open world is beyond me.

I play the Sims mostly to build houses and create restaurants and shops, I love doing that shit.

>Why they removed the open world is beyond me.
Because they couldn't get it to run properly.

I like shitting up the general on /vg/

Sims bustin out is the best console sims game.

When will someone Cities Skylines this piece of shit franchise??

In general, I'm a sucker for these games. They're nice and comfy, usually have good music, and I can fuck around with the buildings like an armchair architect. Just wish they didn't always milk the fuck out of it and simply include the "stuff" stuff for free since it's not hard gameplay updates.

It's good for making dumb bimbo sluts that suck on huge cocks.

Literally only playing it so I can talk to women about video games.

>Been playing the Sims series since the first just because I enjoy them, never talk to any women about it
>Find user playing the Sims just because he wants some roast beef flapping against him
>Get a feeling of vertigo since user is the male equivalent of a gamrgrrl
I need to go lie down.

I know two other dudes who play the sims.
I regularly make characters for them and shit because neither of them are very creative minded.

based diaperfag

A huge stepdown from 3, granted 3 had lots of issues and even though some of them were fixed in 4 it came at the cost of many features 3 had. It's been nearly 5 years since it came out and it still doesn't even have half of the content and features that previous installements with all the expansions had. Also every new expansion that comes out is a dumbed down version of the ones that came before it and rehashes mechanics that were already in the game.

I fucked my cousin and my sister at the same time. I then raped the lesbian next door in front of her girlfriend until her mind broke. Then I and 6 of my clones gang bang my drug dealer then I set the entire place on fire and died. Then I uninstalled.

Literal barbie doll simulator...fun for 15 minutes.

Play The Sims 4.

Nah, it was the tone of the game overall, super charming.

1>2>3>4
literally

2>1>3>4

The comfiest sims game ever.

I'm okay with the sims existing as it leads towards fun and just general dollhouse shenanigans but the expansion pack practices are just too much, and have been since nearly forever.
on a slight side note it from what I can tell you used to be able to tweak more shit in the sims3 and it's expansions than in 4, with regards to sim lifespans and seasonal lengths etc.
