this is actually why I like it more than most of the other pikaclones, it looks like an actual weird knock off pikachu and not just another generic electric rodent that happens to have pikachu cheeks.

Mimikyu already did "fake pikachu" better, and wasn't even a pikaclone (the electrodent for the gen being Togedemaru).

Mimikyu's disguise is the definition of bootleg pikachu, it's the entire gimmick of the design.
This one isn't supposed to look like that, it's supposed to be focused around the mood form gimmick. This is also reinforced by the fact that it's used in the trailer for the Job system, showing that when viewed from the side the two splotchy patches make it look different when it turns around.

I'd say Dedenne is the only true offender. Plusle and Minun have the excuse of being introduced in the generation that introduced double battles, Pachirisu is a squirrel (and a World Champion), Emolga is a flying squirrel and Togedemaru a hedgehog. Other than the first two, they all are completely different to the rat. Dedenne is just there but Morpeko is just offensively bad.

Yes, it's trying to pass itself off as a Pikachu but it's a shitty quality ripoff disguising a different product underneath, that's a bootleg. I get what you're trying to say, that this thing is actually a bootleg Pikachu, but that's not what the design is actually supposed to be, while that is what Mimikyu was and it did so very well. This thing just looks poor quality but not intentionally so and not due to cheapness, it looks that way because it's basically a Pikachu with trimmed ears that sat under a wobbly ladder with two paint cans on top.

I've always been fond of Zigzagoon since the Colosseum games, since he was cute as fuck back then. Plus, Pickup on the local HM slave was pretty good. Probably my favorite rodent, I would unironically use KISS Zigzaevo if I was playing the games anymore/

Some people think Marill is (because of the western fan rumor of Pikablu), but I don't think GF does since it wasn't in the Pikaclone XY theme. Minccino isn't seen as one even though it's also similar (and was even used as the professor's intro Pokemon like Marill was).
