it was alright but it didn't seem like much of an RPG, you get pretty much railroaded through most quests with very little choice in how things play out and your skills don't seem to make much difference to anything

Your complaint about no choice makes me think you are confusing Morrowind with Skyrim.
About the only choices in Morrowind boiled down to do the quest or not. You do get to choose a house which will have a lockout but that is about it.

Tropical Overhaul fixes 90% of the games problems. In that the environment is drab as fuck. Other than that, combat overhauls and character model retextures. Plus extended character creator and skip Helgen. Then it's legit good, lack of role playing aside

Once you get the perk that makes heavy armor weight nothing when you equip it, it also removes most of the downsides of using heavy armor for sneaking.

Thu'um is a powerful tool, more powerful than most people assume. Tales of the greatest tongues can be horrifying, but all of them are true or at least have multiple sources claiming the validity of said feats.
Demon Chieftans of Skyrim, that could toss whole cities with their Voice, revive armies of undead by filling their bodies with mud and manipulating them like puppets, or a shout that allowed it's user to rewrite every time she lost the battle to make it so that she had won.
Adventures of Dragonborn happen in a span of one year or so, and by the end of his adventure he learns shouts that literally allow him to bend will of the world around him. It would be interesting to see how powerful Dragonborn would be once he actually masters thu'um on the same level as the likes of Jurgen Windcaller and Wulfharth.

I always thought Illusion magic was a meme and people only used it for the chameleon spell but having to use it when you're low level and making enemies go crazy and kill each other is more fun than being a stealth archer.
