Since you need incense to hatch them as babies, the natural way has the pokemon just evolve inside the egg before hatching, and baby pokemon are forced premature births. Megas have to go away because they want to shilling the new gen 8 mechanics Dynamax instead.
They just don't want to make new models for more than 800 pokemon (1000+ if include all form difference) every time new gen games come out because of short development time. So "not enough space for all pokemon" is either a lie since Switch have enough space for this shit, or just a claim made by pokefags with no evidence. New regional variants just help to make older fans excited for the new games I guess.

Porygon2 with Eviolite is better than PorygonZ aesthetically and Chansey with Eviolite is apparently a beast.

Unpopular opinion: Pokemon should of been doing these regional forms since gen 3 to keep themselves from years of pokedex bloat, which would inevitably bite them in the ass. It's a novel concept that takes a fun spin on classic designs, and fits in perfectly with Pokemon's themes of evolution and adaptation to the environment. Now that they've brought back regional forms, a relatively new concept, while also stripping down the total number of obtainable pokemon, it just comes off as a lazy attempt at asset recycling.
