I find even the easiest Touhou shmups quite a bit more difficult than MSX, with the sole exception of MoF (and even then only while abusing Marisa's absurd laser damage.) It's possible I'm just not very good at shmups, though.

I'm surprised MS3 is the first one you managed to 1CC; I think it's one of the toughest entries. The first game in particular is incredibly easy in comparison.

I think that the new neo geo is a new arcade hardware and they're gonna show MS8 as the first title with a console version coming later probably.

I have Valentine's Vita, at first I hated her design but after playing her story campaign she grew on me.
Wish Navy was a better unit because i like her too (the fact her special version doesn't have an illustration is dumb).

I like Nova better because I'm not a fan of bacon. But Vita is still cute and the both of them have IMO the best backstory in MSA..
As for Navy, she's not really that popular, hence the lack of illustration for her special version.

my idea is that his entire moveset would be like playing metal slug.
most of his normals would be firing his pistol in different directions with some normals being different (for example his nair could be the kick he does sometimes in MS2, his fsmash would be a knife/zantetsu sword slash,his dtilt would be the punching glove and his dash attack MS5's slide).
His neutral-b would be the grenades while his down-b would be switching weapons between heavy machine gun, rocket launcher or the shotgun), when Marco changes weapon all his normals change to the current weapon (aka if his f-tilt was running while shooting his pistol now he uses the HMG while running), he can run out of ammo making him change to the pistol by default.
Side-B would be putting a summon spot where a POW will appear so Marco can free him and receive Ammo for his other guns, the opponent can free them too but instead of ammo for Marco they'll drop food to recover %
Up-B would be the jetpack and the final smash would obviously be a cinematic where he enters the metal slug sv-001 and shoots the opponent down and finishing it with a kamikaze attack from the sv-001.

I did MS1 fine but 2/X go insane on Level 5 and MS3 is even harder, I haven't touched 4 and 5 that much but from what i've heard 4 has poor level design and bullshit difficulty and 5 is unpolished as hell because of rushed development.

From Rebel Army: Abigail and Destrade would fit pretty nice as bosses (specially Destrade, she has different attacks like a flamethrower, her uzi and the missiles she punches).
PM: Yoshino and Dragunov would also be cool bosses (Yoshino rided different machines in Attack and Yoshino mixes heavy blows with some ninja moves).
PF: MS-Alice and MS-Heart would be fun Slugs to use, a puncher slug that turns into a canon would be super fun to use specially.
Mars People: Can't say much but some of them would be nice sub-bosses or enemies, The Professor (specially the last version they released) could be a final boss
Misc: The ninjas, the egyptian thots or the Metzeleis (Geweih Final boss).

I played Metal Slug for the first time in many months today. DIdn't die in the first two stages, i'm happy enough with that.

I don't know, the thing with MS is that every game after 3 wasn't as good as the first 4 games (1/2/X/3) so I would rather have another run n' gun game but with the same care and design those previous titles had.
As for lore, the mobile game (Defense/Attack) has done a decent job expanding the world of Metal Slug, even with the blatant waifubait, some of those characters actually have decent backstories that fit well with the game's tone.

I've been trying on and off for years, slowly getting better.

I can get all the way to the final level of the original Metal Slug on one credit, though I'm having some trouble finishing it. I can get to level 4 in Metal Slug 3, sometimes. I'll get it eventually.

Metal Slug X/2 on its surface seems to be the hardest, and possibly most "Unfair" of the trilogy. I want to 1CC all three of them but I'm not sure when I'll manage X.

the first phase of the meteor boss in 3 always curbstomps me. Everything else save the alien base at the end is pretty manageable but those fucking floating ayyys are the bane of my existence.

The only problem about this game is lack of Co-op mode. but anything else is good, This game is how Metal Slug should play in 3D. It's much better than MS5 and MS6

Near the crash site are three zombie doctors. Kill two of them, then let the last one zombify you, then kill him but DON'T pick up the cure. If you want you can wait for him to get a bit closer before you kill him.

When the meteor summons his boys, wait for them to start moving, then vomit blood on them and start racing toward the cure. That will kill about half of them. After you reach the cure, since half of them are dead, the game should spawn a bunch of grenades. Pick 'em up, turn around, and throw them at the aliens until they're dead.

Time it right and you can get all of them with this trick. It's mostly consistent.
