I just don't enjoy the typical shmup formula enough to spend that much time on one. By the time I'm good enough at one to clear the later stages, the early stages will have long since become a mind-numbingly boring slog. I think they should have flatter difficulty curves, so that the final stage isn't actually all that much more challenging than the first one.

Capturing is just passing a spellcard without dying or bombing. In most cases that's just for points. Exceptions are IN where captures give a lot of time points to trigger the Last Spell, and you need to capture a certain number of spellcards to unlock some Last Words ; PCB to unlock the extra stages (and probably cherry points too to trigger borders more ofter? I don't recall) ; and what said. Also, there's a few occasions where "capturing" a pattern give a better item drop, like UFO's stage 4 midboss or the final enemy wave before Hecatia.
Slightly related too, SA gives you life pieces after each spellcard provided you did not die on them. Bombing is ok though.

IN is unironically the best touhou game and has the best characters

We actually know a little about Momiji, she's also appeared in multiple games and books. The impressive thing is that Daiyousei has had multiple game and manga appearances but ZUN has avoided fleshing her out at all.

We don't really know if Koakuma and Daiyousei are even their names but I guess it's possible considering other characters whose names are what they are like Murasa and Satori.

Honestly didn't like it enough to practice it. I 1cc'd PCB on Lunatic, and did most of Phantasia, but for some reason I'd always lose interest shortly after starting EoSD.

No Touhou game is 'easy' in the sense that you don't have to struggle a bit. You're doing fine, I'm sure. As other anons have said, practice a bit: you shouldn't do too many attempts until after you've sufficiiently mastered the difficult stages, since it is pointless to spend time on the easy parts until that point.

Okay so I went to check and yes, zigzagging still works because the last one is the only wide one which means you actually have to put less effort into misdirecting because you can just dodge normally for the last one. Should take that into account next time.

Okay so, I haven't played easy but I assume it's not that different from Normal. First things first: Just like your hitbox is smaller than it seems, this is also the case for bullets (and it's in fact how you're supposed to deal with Mt. Ooe) so you can get away with touching the tips of the suns.

The real threat is the small bullets. The suns are aimed so they'll only close you off if you move too much. Remember to get out of where you are when you see her shoot the suns and you'll manage. No shame in bombing, anyway.

Easiest one by far, just stick to the bottom. Again, watch out for the small bullets.

It has a blindspot but if you don't wanna push it you should stick to the edges of the suns, moving slightly up and slightly down. Small bullets are once again the actual threat.

Eh, I'd argue that around 2013 is when people started to get less interested in 2hu. DDC wasn't the best outing but it was cool enough, a strong yet unorthodox Stage 1-3 characters along with Seija and Sukuna were neat to see, especially since you could make AoT jokes with their game play mechanics. But for characters that no one cared about like Not-Benben and Raiko they REALLY got pushed to the side.

IIRC you can even lock Extra by completing the game on Normal and then completing it on Easy afterwards. But I'm like 80% certain that later games allow you access to the Extra stage even on an Easy mode completion.

SA in particular has a glitch where winning on easy *locks* the Extra stage. Don't know if continues influence that.

The best part about SA is that if you save a replay sometimes the replay itself gets borked for some fucking reason! ZUN, I love ya but god damn get your shit together sometimes.

Also stage 6 desyncs in replays so if you wanna show your epic Okuu fight you have to start the replay from at least stage 5.

Somewhere around 2006/2007. I was in middle school and a friend of mine told me about a game called perfect cherry blossom and gave me a fucking disc with it on it. I was probably too young to appreciate it, as I didn't actually play that much of it at the time, I only revisited it years later. I appreciated it much more then, but still didn't manage to 1cc anything beyond easy mode. I picked it up again recently, and finally got around to 1ccing EOTSD, so now I get to go back to where it all started for me.

only time ZUN outright took a PC-98 pattern was Shinki's for Byakuren, and fans were seemingly upset by it so ZUN never made cool references like that again.

if ZUN ever wanted to put EoSD-IN on Steam he would have to recode them from scratch. The sprites and music will always exist but he'd have to re-code the patterns.

Discovered the series from it being a common source from a YTP maker I used to watch. I thought the music was neat, so I looked fora game to play, and found EOSD. My computer was ass but I was still able to run it, I was glad. I somehow managed to 1cc Normal after some efforts: I was still underage at the time and I don't know how I managed to beat the game given how shit I was at video games.
I never had the best of relations with communities of other games so I didn't get to talk about the game with anyone until my English got decent enough to go on Yea Forums where I found out that there were people that liked Touhou.
