Ys 1 was okay, I guess, mostly because it is 2 hours long, and if you don't count the worst final boss in video game history. II is way too long for a walking simulator. Dropped Felghana because of absolutely terrible boss design. VIII was fun for the first 10 hours, but then both gameplay and story fall apart.
I also have Celceta Kai, haven't played it yet, but I believe "the worst Ys game ever!!!1" has a good chance to be actually great.
