dennis stop posting this everyday

level design could've been better. still 8/10 for me

Explained too much. Best part of Hotline Miami was the very vague story. You actually needed to piece things together. 2 gave you all the details, and it was clear the writers did it the way they did in 1 because they weren't that great at writing.

Level design. I liked the writing a lot.

The number

Not much except for a few places where you can get shot from offscreen even with shift.

for the last time
>too many protagonists and jumping around made the story feel schizophrenic
>less masks and more characters with dumb gimmicks is one of the worst design choices
>wide open levels with lots of guns and windows is really bad, most deaths come from being shot by someone off screen rather than dying because you fucked up
>focus on guns instead of melee betrays the core feeling of the original game which was focused on brutal, intense, close quarters, fast combat in focused, tight areas
the new characters were all great but jumping around between all of them hurt the story and their characterization
the big problem with 2 is that there is too much story, the fact that 1 didnt have a fleshed out story WAS its story
1 is the better game and a great game that has a deeper meaning without being a farthuffing artfag about it

Nothing, it improved on Hotline Miami 1 in nearly every possible way.

Too much emphasis on guns I think, the colombian katana guys and some of the prisoners existed only to make melee relevant. Other than that, no resolution to Miami Mutilator's identity. I was hoping that Detective Pardo would catch the bastard, given how excellent of a detective he is.

Level design is all over the place. Some excel over the original while others are nothing but liberal tranny jannies acting like a bunch of n words.

Pardo *was* the Mutilator, dude.

daily reminder that Biker is the only survivor

Sector X still hasn’t been announced with a release date

Shallow gameplay and story that got massively over-hyped, so the sequel could never live up to the legend.

underrated reply right here

Dumb concept, gay super edgy e3 presentations. Fuck off, devolver.

You are mistaken user. Pardo was the best detective in Miami, if anyone was going to catch the mutilator it was him

this post right here underrated

One of the most kino endings in vidya.

>>wide open levels with lots of guns and windows is really bad, most deaths come from being shot by someone off screen rather than dying because you fucked up
I think your post pretty much perfectly describes the issues 2 has I just want to add onto this point that you are frequently shot by people so far away you can't see them even if you use Shift to look the furthermost away you can.

It was even more confusing than the first one since it was multiple stories that were shown a bit at a time, and each of those taking place in different times and places.
The Level design is pretty ass and some mechanics are pretty shit, like the fat enemies and over-used of glass windows.
The Variety of the character is fun but it was better to just being able to choose your ability from a mask rather than have character with a set a ability fulfilling that role instead.

Music´s excellent but very different from the first game.
>No Sun Araw

Also biker is my favorite character just becuase of that stupid helmet, i love it. simple yet memorable.

Multiple characters and bad gimmicks (only able to refill ammo at crates in the level and can't pick up enemy guns)

>he doesn't know how to press shift
I can't name a single time in HM2 where the enemies can buttfuck you from that far away without the player being a blithering retard. Hotline Miami 2's level design is unironically better than 1's because you have to actually think in order to beat them rather than just burst into every room with a crowbar to win.

The fact that there is no third game

The music is worse
Glass windows
Levels are too wide
Glass windows

This guy is nuts

>What went absolutely right here?
ftfy

>The music is worse

> Flatmate gets raped in a night club
> A month passes and she's recovering
> "Oh shit HM 2, i'll boot it up i loved the first one"
> she's in my room when it boots up the start

>When you seem to be the only person in the entire HLM playerbase who enjoys youtube.com/watch?v=Y-Qu_Fk23T4
Shit's what got me into ambient in the first place and it's an underrated as fuck genre desu. The artist himself is fucking great too.

>Making you use both melee and guns is a bad thing

How are you that fucking stupid? Reread my post and respond again tard

You probably watched the Miami Mutilator analysis video on youtube right? Let me clear a few things up:
- The guy in Pardo's trunk was a lowlife scumbag that he was going beyond his job requirements to interrogate, and sure his methods were extreme, but goes to show how good a detective he is.
- His breakdown or his hallucinations are from his overtime and work on the job, cleaning up Miami from dirtbags puts a number on you.
- Killing Tony shows his disdain for bastards looking for their 15 minutes of fame, hence his dedication to hunting down the Mutilator.
Anything else I miss?

>retard can't understand i'm criticizing someone not being able to evade enemies from an entire map away, even when they're literally pressing the button that lets them look that far

The engine is improved, and if you don't like the base levels there's a level editor.
The base levels aren't even that bad, this isn't like Doom II where half of the game is unbearable.

The wallet

Why didn’t you turn off the sexual content setting then?

fatman is piss easy, but switching melee to firearm to confront samurai and bignigga at the same time is retarded

you aren't the only one, that's a good song

The story was a bit silly but other than that, nothing.

This game feels like snorting coke, there are more games like this?

Oh easy. Pardo wasn't the cleanest detective in the force, but he DID want to help people. He looted the wallet off the scumbag he tied up and went to the girl's house to talk to her. He saw how messy the place was so he left the wallet with money so she could fix it up. Truly a Robin Hood of sorts.

No need to ruin everything with a wojak, reddit.

What are your favorite editor campaigns Yea Forums?

Naked Corey Porno

Yea this. Some of the later flashback missions were utter crap.

Just level design, everything else is great.

shitty 2D indie game. That's what happened.

That's slander. It's like calling Iroquois Plissken Solid Snake.

your mom is a shitty 2D indie game lol

Your dad is a Sony AAA movie tier game with little to no gameplay and only cutscenes

Based.

Clearly what they wanted to do with HM2 was capture the horror anthology vibe, using Richard to tie things together and have everything tangentially related to Jacket in the end. However there are only so many ways you can do this without making every character feel exactly the same and as a result of trying to make the protagonists feel unique, they removed a lot of the creativity that the 1st game's masks offered. It was one of the worst mistakes you could pull for a game that's so gameplay driven, to sacrifice mechanics for the sake of story.

at least he has money and he's good looking

Probably one of the best I've seen.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOW CAN I BE BEATEN

Attached: Hotline Miami 2 Swordplay.webm (860x540, 2.48M)

ok we gotta figure this out...

Which animal mask is the best in the game in your opinion?

Attached: MannyPardo.png (364x353, 121K)

lmao, I hope this is true.

Gameplay-wise? Tony obviously, if we're talking HM1.
I always use Richard though since I like that mask the most.

You guys really love your Corey levels, huh.

Why does this get posted every single day? How new do you have to be to not see the same dozen or so complaints about HM2 that get posted every time this thread is made.

YOU ARE THE BLOOD

I mean, it's less that and more that it's a 16 stage campaign with a custom soundtrack.

Also she's like the only fan that has any room for development beyond Tony being a Musclehead and Mark being the generic driver type.

The Rooster Files. Made it's own custom story with Pardo and Jacket in different roles, in a cool drama, with interesting flashbacks to Pardo's military past. Like an alternate universe. And the levels are perfect.

I once tried to make a prequel campaign about the Fans in the Hawaiian Conflict and expand on their characters, make them really fleshed out. Had some cool ideas.
But I'm shit at making levels, so I gave up.

Nothing, it's better than 1.
And the music is also better

Conspiratards are insufferable

This level was kino. I remember I had top spot on the leaderboards for like 2 months when the game first released.

Brandon is objectively the best mask. Tony is easy mode. Nigel is for true Chads.

That one with Corey's tits, bobs and vagene as long as Pardo's huge leather rod

this does not look canon

The music overall is better, but HM1 has the best song in the series.

why not move?
have you gone to a therapist?

>just threw all my money into one stock and lost it all 5k in a week
>mom use to keep me locked in the basement for days when i was younger and never got caught for it
>family wants to kill me
>keep hearing niggers and homos giggling 10 feet from my window every night
>get gang stalked every single day (helicopters sometimes keep flying over me and i know they're spying on me because of the way they're rotating)
>older brother has recently came out as a tranny and has admitted he has sexual feelings for me
>younger sister is a furry, also one time caught her masturbating to loli porn

this SOUNDS fake as fuck, but if you're serious about this, talk to us and write down some of the stuff that is going through your head.

losing 5k is not the end of the world and chances are you're too young to know any better right now. you're about to commit a terrible mistake, believe me.

Overdesigned, weird story, bad level design, more focus on shooting than melee.

Some people disliked the new level design a bit, but I actually liked it a bit more to be honest. Nothing really "went wrong" imo. It was a well made sequel that expanded on the gameplay and story a bit. 'Cept for the soldier levels. I didn't like those.

the flerida ones are pretty fun honestly steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=744383708

literally everything

Is it normal to die a lot in the first game? I play with some strategy (use doors/human shields/kill silently if I can) but it seems I win more often due to luck then skill

I have it set as my alarm clock. I wake up immediately after the first note every time. Shit's good.
