Make Junko part of the despair cast in 2 but she joins them for the omegaLUL but she's not the grand mastermind.
Have the students of 2 actually go through something that makes them abused by society. Don't have them in the same class and have it more as a secret club. Make Chiaki as an unintentional martyr for them to fuck over the world.
Make 2 more about figuring out about how the rest of the world should "punish" the students for fucking over the world. endless virtual death

DR1 writing is very inconsistent and the longer I think about it, the angrier I get. At least DR2 writing was a huge step forward.

Junko was a plot device and as such no explanation of how she brought about the apocalypse could be satisfying. Kodaka avoided this problem by never going into it.
Similarly the DR2 cast was written such that you could feasibly see how each of them might be manipulated into becoming SHSL Despair, but the anime wanted to go into too much detail with the specifics of how it happened while also trying to remove as much accountability from the waifus and husbandos as possible.

Its biggest flaw is just being to fucking easy and hiding that behind minigames. I want a game like Your Turn to Die and Danganronpa but not locked down to a linear story where the clues you find or games you play can lead to different "conclusions" and anyone can get killed off every vote.
