Just started playing Gothic 1, for such an old game it plays pretty well.

And the fact that it's considered to be inferior to it's sequel just makes me happier.

Also sometimes enemies becomes invisible, but it usually resolves itself by quickloading.
I wouldn't have used the mod normally but the game started crashing constantly without it

To reiterate for the logically impaired: with actual ownership of a copy you get to play whenever you want and make backups however you want (as long as you don't share them with others) without violating the license.
With currently indefinite rental you are completely at the mercy of the service provider even if you make a full installation on your local storage because of always-online DRM. You can't make backups which will work offline at an arbitrary point down the line without violating the license (without modifying the game's binaries). You might not be able to download the game legally for an install if the provider is experiencing some technical difficulties. Or if the provider has decided to change _their_ license agreement to make the product "games as service" instead of a "copy but with a spyware".

You are explicitly allowed to make backups. Burn through all the DVDs you like. Moreover, nothing prevents a publisher from allowing to keep images of DVDs to use instead of a physical disk in a drive. Even further, lately games only require a key check. I don't even remember when was the last time a game required a disk in a drive.
