It's one of Platinum's shallowest games, and Yoko Taro's writing isn't for everyone. If you don't like pretentious monologues and pointless level scaling, then there's not really much to do in this 3-hour long game.

The combo potential in the game isn’t huge, but you can play around with the mechanics and get some fun out of it. There’s a lot of fun if you get creative switching weapon sets and bot abilities. The combat was fun as you traversed the world, but it really comes down to whether you like the characters, story, and themes since it’s a taro game.

It's a good game. One of my favorites. 9s is a great character to follow in the story and is the main character. Plays English dubs for best 9s voice. Play sub for better 2b voice which doest matter because she barely talks.

Story B mimics around 30% of story A (and I almost quit the game because I thought it was going to be the same shit) but it starts having its own story shortly

I remember 9S having no second weapon
(which meant doing the same like 3 combos all game) and doing nothing for damage unless I hacked regardless of specific moments it was needed. Did you use specific OS chips upgrades or whatever their called or something?

maybe you think scaling is clamping. like the system in KH2 to make sure you never do too little damage.
in actuality scaling is simply how the game handles your stats scaling up when you level up.
So unless you're trying to argue the game doesn't have RPG stats (in which case you're a fucking retard who hasn't played the game). then you misunderstand what i'm talking about. The degree to which your stats increase level to level is fucking garbage.

When you say level scaling I think of shit like skyrim where enemies get stronger alongside you rather than having set stats no matter what yours are, which is the case in N:A

Twice. You play through the “Resistance” arc factory flight mission to EMP Goobbue twice. The second time scales your level but not those of bosses or most enemies so you blitz through it effortlessly in an hour TOPS and get rewarded for your trouble with extra scenes exclusive to 9S. Then the story takes a completely different turn into another direction with 100% fresh content, an area, and the conclusion of the story that’s been blown wide open after section B.
I understand complaining about Nier 1, you really do need to play through the second half of the game and the castle several times, identical each time after B. Automata doesn’t make you do that. I understand feeling “baited” by the marketing and fanart that make it feel like 2B is the protagonist when it’s really 9S and you barely play as her for a third of the game, but come the fuck on.
