Midgar (the setting) is a huge city and we didn't get to explore most of it: for example we never visited Sector 7 and 8's upper plate.

Midgar in the original game took like six hours, and I can't even imagine how much shitty padding they'd have to throw in to even reach the 20 hour marker. One of FFVII's greatest strengths was in its pacing- you were always moving around to some new area and the next big part of the plot. Even sections where it dragged, like the Huge Materia quest, were over before you started to realize how pointless it was. Stretching all that out would just bring a lot of flaws to surface.

Skyrim was made with modding in mind, so the FF7 remake will most likely be way harder to create mods for.
I'm actually one of those idiots who loved FF15 and even that doesn't have too many great mods, despite having mod support added to it. The promised modding tools never came out as well, so Square might have given up on supporting mods altogether.
We'll see some naked Tifa skins, without question, but that's probably as far as mods will go.
