fucking faggot virtue signalling dog pretending to be nice while LITERALLY force feeding the cat with his nasty dog breath germs

Isn't this the ideal relationship?
Caring about someone, more than yourself.
And through both people putting a focus on another person, rather than them-self, they both have better lives.

Sure but we'll never feel that. Few people do.

no
let me give you a blackpill; humans are naturally selfish
everything you do you do it for yourself. you're just so good at lying to other and sometimes yourself that you appear righteous and selfless. humanity at its core is individualism. i live alone for myself, and i will die that way too.
you wholesome virtual signaling vermin can rot; I see through your throne of lies

You sure are fooling everybody with that lowercaps faux-apathy act

human success inherently stems from the forming of social bonds and structures of mutual dependence, a rejection of the concept is a rejection of the tenets of human success. A balance between individualism and societal responsibility is the biggest key to success, along with the ability to manage the weight you give either.

Everyone is inherently selfish, but there's some people out there who genuinely enjoy expressing altruism because it makes them feel good.
Most people also get a shot of dopamine whenever they do something for someone else, a evolutionary trait to encourage us as a social species to be there for one another.

Even if people do things to ultimately make themselves feel better, I feel at a certain point you're just thinking too hard on the semantics of it.
If people are being there for one another, even if it's for selfish reasons, at the end of the day, does it really matter?
It's the closest we can really get to true altruism, and I feel it should be further encouraged.

You're free to be bitter about it, but it's probably the best we can ever hope for, both on the giving and receiving end, and it's definitely better than the realistic alternative of people being selfish without giving something as well.

pro-tip: thats still a selfish reason. its not even a bad thing, but its still literally a pay off they have deemed worth the trade off.

shits a fact of life. its a matter of deciding what selfishness is morally or socially acceptable.

yet you still reply because deep down it bites at your insecurities
i agree with your points in that balance between individualism and collectivism is the asymptote of the self that we constantly chase. at the end of the day one must outweigh the other, however. when individuals must come together, it is key to keep the sense of self. you are a good man with your heart in the right place but do not lose your sense of self.
altruism is just a different shade of color on the palette of self amusement. if people are chaining themselves to one another they will never achieve their own best self, and will be held down by the morals of their superior. in a perfect world we can say that the countryman is as mutually motivated to assist his neighbor as the latter is for the former, but this is beyond the bounds of reality. by growing ourselves first and foremost, we can not only better as individuals but also inspire the weaker to pursue strength. do not assume selfishness vs selflessness as black v white, but rather a spectrum of gray. yes, some are born to lead and some are born to follow but at the end of the day the leader is the victor, and that is who writes history.
thanks

why is Leorio from HXH a black man?

Even I acknowledge that humans are selfish overall, but nothing was built on selfishness. You still have to grease hands, otherwise you're just banging sticks together by yourself.

Even the selfish rely on and value others, admit it. And every time they think they're more important, they always get smacked down by life, even if the cushion they make makes it take a while.

Me and my girlfriend just bought a house today together, if we didn't have this kind of relationship I doubt it would have happened. Hang in there and keep looking you'll find someone who wants the same things as you do.

Did you even read my whole post?
You're nitpicking and not taking into consideration the whole context of what I said.

True altruism doesn't exist, I was pretty much just saying that even if people act selfless for selfish reasons, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.
Altruism, even if, again, it doesn't exist, it's still a good goal to strive towards since, even if you're being selfish, at least you're actually contributing to others in some (hopefully) meaningful way while you do it. Which helps make the world a bit less of a shitty place.

>they will never achieve their own best self
'best self' is subjective, and you can't tell me what you feel your best self is applies to everyone.
You're also missing the fact that we're social animals by nature, we're literally wired to chain ourselves to our communities, and not doing so often leads to extreme depression in adults, and even real mental illness in children with their developing brains.

For everything else you said, I was pretty much agreeing with you.

Unironically cringe and retardpilled. Numerous studies have shown that true happiness comes from helping others and living selflessly. Also religious people have longer life expectancy, are happier, and less likely to commit suicide.

no, you're just jaded

>unpleasant truth
le epic memer haha le truh donst car bout ur feelins lel

Plenty of people are genuenly good people, and that's what bothers this nigger , he wants to believe everyone is an asshole so he can feel justified. The idea of helping others without any benefit to you just for the sake of helping is so mind baffling to him that he actually believes the world is full of assholes.

>True altruism doesn't exist
There's doctors that choose to practice in 3rd world countries just to help, when they could be making 300k+ here.
There's plenty of examples in history where people in positions of power gave their lives to give enslaved people a chance in the future.
It does exist, and you don't want it to be true because that would mean you're a piece of shit.

>There's doctors that choose to practice in 3rd world countries just to help, when they could be making 300k+ here.
I guarantee you they get some feeling of fulfillment from doing so, and that's what encourages them to do that in the first place, depending on the person.

Nice post.

Partly. As a man you will do this while the female will demand everything and more and will still cheat on you.

well of course not..... heh... you can't just say your selfish and expect them not to lose their minds............. otherwise things would get, well; Greasy...
ok lemme turn back the shounen antagonist dial a bit
that's the pitfall most people will fall into when they can't either hold true emotional concern or do a really bad job pretending to. kinda like I was speaking about earlier with the basic "selfish isn't always negative" . You can make selfishness "just". The whole idea of " help me help you" plays in with it.
it's definitely subjective, by the "best self" I refer to comfort in your own skin with your values. feeling free and achieved while also not feeling tied down by anything or anyone.
this guy is right everyone else is wrong including me o fuck
see also there are plenty of examples in history of the opposite, people that rose to power by breaking the backs of those underneath them. Not exactly selfless there
Also the fact that you play the "a bloo bloo u r asshole" card gives away the merit you have with your points. Believe it or not being an asshole is subjective - if I am donating money to the poor because it makes me feel good but I don't care about them whatsoever, does it make me still an asshole? I am helping other people but my morals are skewed according to society's "high and mighty" crowd. Which is it?

Attached: wacky_cool_laptop.jpg (279x180, 11K)

You all know the real debate here is sociopaths vs normal people. There's plenty of sociopaths out there and I feel really bad that you can't feel shit. Sucks to be you.

I've had relationships in the past, and all I felt was detachment and apathy. It seems I cannot form emotional bonds with people. To those of you who are idealistic, realize that not everyone is like you.

This thread fucking sucks.

Mind giving me a sauce on that image?

>If people are being there for one another, even if it's for selfish reasons, at the end of the day, does it really matter?

Pretty much how I see it, I wish I could make it my life motto but I'm too selfish a prick to make it so, but sometimes I will do things because I think if " I do something good now I'm in debt to be given something good back at some point" even if I don't get anything back for it later at least I was nice at that time and if I keep repeating it, even if it's for my own "good debt" that I keep piling up, in the end I'm doing good things, rewarded for it or not doesn't matter

>To those of you who are idealistic, realize that not everyone is like you.
oh I got a crash course in that with my brother
he's schizo-effective (I figured he was a sociopath but close enough) so needless to say I know full well I'm probably going to get fucked over when I actually get the balls to try to have a relationship. But I still will try

Why?

>blackpill

Fuck off, incel.

Because that's how females are.
