Yes for Time Trials, yes/no for online. You are giving up a box for maybe 2-3 seconds off a lap, and on the first lap you could get decked by an item immediately after exiting the shortcut.

Sewer Speedway, at least until they fixed it. It's consistent enough that you must take it to win online now. Tiger Temple is another interesting one where if you don't have turbo on the second lap and don't get an item to open the short cut you'll still catch up by getting SF from the turbo pad on the right of the short cut. There's also the skip on Coco Park at the first bend through the big bulbs that seems to be hit or miss, especially if a trap item gets put there.

I copied oxide, not sure if it's actually faster by jumping off the bridge.

You are probably too close to the walls or are holding your turns too long.

Cortex Castle is more about good routing than anything, with as tight as the hallways can be you actually have a lot of freedom with how you tackle it and that's the kinda thing you have to work out for yourself. I personally like to go the long way around in the stained glass tower instead of doing the shortcut so I have more reserves to tackle any unexpected obstacles once the USF kicks in. If something inconvenient can happen it will and I like yo be prepared for that. Also git gud at U-turning, on the ground and in the air.

Polar Pass's lake jump is 80% luck. Sometimes you'll fly right over it, sometimes you'll just get flat ground height and fall into the drink. I have no fucking idea how this one works.

What class are you playing? All I have on the computer I've got at the moment is this old footage of Balanced, which I've improved on by quite a lot. Whereas a line for speed is near completely different.

Then take the same general path but refine how you do it, make some improvisations here and there. Cortex Castle is unique in that it's a pretty freeform track but has a very small margin of error and as you try different stuff you'll find what works for you.

I switch to speed if I have to, I usually use Accel online. Offline its usually whatever character I wanna play as.

Could be the problem, you might be building muscle memory for one class then changing it up too frequently not getting enough practice for a good line for each class. Try sticking to one class for a couple hours or so practicing two or three maps until the paths you take become second nature, then start experimenting with how you can make those paths faster.

Used to work, but now the game won't reconnect mid race when you plug the cable back in. Depending on how your internet is connected you could just unplug the connection between your router/modem and the internet, at least that's how I'm doing it on PS4.

I see people who have blue fire on for awhile before they start drifting again.

I'm sitting there trying to drift the entire track even through sections that are just long hallways but I keep running into walls or hazards trying to keep the drift going. I'd like to know if I can cut down on drifting so I can actually get through these sections more efficient and still keep it going.

Yes, however the reserves from the pads/trick jumps is minimal and usually not enough to keep USF/SF up by itself. Having reserves built up before hitting a turbo pad will allow you some time in most cases to drive a bit without powersliding/turboing.

Yes. 95% of the time they won't give you as much boost as a drift but in sections of the track where it's too risky to drift they're your best friends. Remember that "reserves" is a just a fancy term for "time left until your boost runs out"

Yes. My god yes. That's one of the best examples of where you absolutely should not be drifting all the time. You have plenty of time to build reserves before the tubes and the boost pads in there give you enough reserves to make it to the end, just take it easy and cost through and focus on dodging. People being unable to realize that is why DSD is a free win online.

Small Norm was mostly just ugly because of the hideous shading on the texture of his face. New Small Norm also has the weird lip shape, slightly sunken eyes and visible cheekbones but the soft lighting makes it much more flattering. Combine that with some of the funniest animations in the game and you’ve got an amazing reimagining.

I've had about one crash in 60 odd hours. It was in a menu too, not in game.

Items and human error mean there’s plenty of room to dominate lobbies as the shitty classes. 99% of winning is air braking effectively and consistently sticking to tight racing lines.

The problem is that a lot of his lines in N. Sane and CTRNF were originally meant for Clancy Brown. It's very difficult to properly capture the same emotion when you're repeating lines a meant for a different actor in a different time by a different voice director. Any track that you personally find difficult as a turning character. Learning to survive on straights and narrow paths is paramount.

Do some cup races or play on your favourite tracks. Took me a while to adjust to how hard they turn when drifting compared to speed and accel.
It's really just about getting used to how they control, but when you do, you can take certain turns almost stress free.
Good luck getting used to the other classes again though

Naturally there's gonna be some variation based on how quickly you clear away the end screen and how long it takes to reload the stage and do the starting countdown but there's no way you should be making that little.

Is it worth bothering with the nitro boost when you aren't doing challenges?

I'm too scared to use masks at any point of that track incase one of the jumps send you flying too far and you run out of reserves/hit an obstacle

I used it because I realized I fucked up and the orb would catch back up to me but I was too fast and at the end I goofed up and forgot to release the accel button
