RE is an undesirable mechanic, sure, but it's relevance decreases as the level of play goes up. You'll only see it once or twice in a Best of 3 set between two mid-level players, let alone high level. It brings the game down but comes up rarely enough that it doesn't bother me as much as it could. The general playerbase has become surprisingly competent at countering and punishing RE, and RE will only become weaker over time.
