World 1, 3 (it was called 2003 in Britbongistan for some reason) and Next Order.

I played 1, 3, Redigitize, New Order and Cyber Sluts

Best one by far was the first game.

3 would have been alright if it didn't have the by far worst backtracking in a game I have ever seen.

Redigitize and New Order were both ok but basically just worse copies of 1.

Cyber Sluts was way better than I expected desu, but nothing mindblowing, just a solid JRPG.

Digimon world 2 was one of my first and only games I had for ps1. I fucking loved it so much, despite its slow as hell and grindy gameplay.
Literally the day after getting my first mega (Wargreymon, of course) a family friend corrupted all of my save files somehow and I had to start over.

I assume it has something to do with licensing but I really wish they'd put out Digimon World 1-3 on the PS store

I'm not really all that interested in the anime, I watched Adventure, 02, Tamers and Frontier a loooong time ago but basically forgot it all, but I'm really excited for Survive. Both because I like the idea of strategic map-based battles and because I like the implications of the story.
I just hope they make another World game sometime in the future, a lot of people have been doomsaying that World games are fucking dead and that kinda depresses me.

I just hope they bring Braveheart and possibly the Adventure 02 OP back as cross evolution music if that's a feature rather than a new song.

3d models is cheaper/less time consuming the more you need to re-use the assets, but there's a higher up front cost, generally speaking.

well let's consider they need to make different angles so they have to draw 3/4 front and 3/4 back and adapt it on each view when they make the attack animation, and who knows how many other angles are they planning to make for each one. which it would be easier if its in cgi. inb4 someone brings pokemon, well these were sprites with almost little detail while survive shows to have very high detail on them so that's extra work to make them look consistent. who knows, maybe its all cgi but programmed with shades and textures to make them look flat

Making a 3d model is, all things being equal, more work then making a single sprite.

But once that 3d model is made, you can freeily animate or pose it, wheras you need to make additional new sprite frames from scratch for animations and such.

So while there's a higher up front cost/time consumption to make 3d assets, assuming your project involves a lot of use and re-use of those 3d assets, it might/can be cheaper then making the same sort of proiduct in 2d and needing to make new 2d assets from scratch for every animation or scene.

So for something like an animated movie, 3d is often cheaper since you just need to make the models and then doing animation off of those models, wheras you need to manually draw every single frame from scratch if you do 2d animation. For games, it's a lot more depedent on the specific project since there's only so many animations each character/enemy has anywayts.

Check the PS1 games. World 1, 2, 2003, and Digital Card Battle are all very different and you might find one you like, but 2 and 2003 (the euro version of World 3, it has more content) might be too grindy or slow, depends on your taste.
World DS and Dawn/Dusk are nice too.

If you want something that resembles Pokemon I guess the DS games except Championship are the closest. Or Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory of course, if you can play them.
The one that obviously has the biggest sense of discovery is World 1, mostly because of how obtuse it is with the information it gives you. If you go at that shit without a walkthrough you will definitely feel like you're in the unknown, but you run the risk of getting frustrated. Check out gameplay videos or something if you want, it might give you a sense of what each game is about.

DVPet I just keep trying to get into but I can't, mostly because of the fatigue mechanic. I can never actually tell which sprite is supposed to be the tired one, so it's impossible for me to know when it's safe to train, and so I just end up screwing myself over with care mistakes

I completed it recently, loved it. It does a lot of QoL improvements over the digimon world formula while losing a great amount of its style:
*Art style isn't as vivid.
*Combat feels more generic and has less weight (still hard as diamonds though).
*Sound effects aren't as great (fuck I miss gearing my digimons walk, they sounded like tanks but it had so much soul).

But it is true to the raising formula, has a good amount of digimons, and is lovely in general. Definitely would recommend.

If you don't know those shows, he also wrote the dark ocean episode of 02.

I don't really view any of those things as positives and if anything the fourth point is a negative. I think a lot of people just get wrapped up in the novelty of Tamers being a dark kids' show that they overlook how dull it really is if that novelty doesn't affect you. But I'll admit, part of it is just me being older and not having the patience for shows that move as slowly as Tamers does anymore.

I hated tri when it came out. The episode batches and wait between “movies” was apparently what sucked about it (maybe the Japanese voice cast too?). Cause I recently re-watched the Tri dub movies, where you’re not hitting a pause for credits and recaps every 25 minutes, and maybe it was the nostalgia for mostly the same old cast but the movies felt much more enjoyable

Also, the Chinese were/are being based: they helped a lot when archiving was a must and now they are turning it in an Alexandria Library: rare books from every where.

This is kind of what’s kept me from getting Next order too.
