Duck Tales Remastered is actually a good remake. Probably the best game WayForward has made. And it's worth playing just to hear all the great dialogue from Alan Young and the references to the original show. But even outside of this, the gameplay is improved over the NES game.

What sucks is they never remade Duck Tales 2. Which was even better than Duck Tales 1 on NES.

The thing that kills my ability to watch the Duck Tales reboot show, aside from the horrible art style, is the voices are just so wrong for the characters. I can accept new voices. But by god, it's like they went out of their way to find the most opposite voice possible. Especially for the nephews. "lol, let's make all these kids sound like sarcastic 30 year old boomers. Won't that be hilarious!"

I did see the Darkwing Duck episode. And it had a good premise setting up the idea of an in universe revival of Darkwing Duck. But I fear what they'd do if they reboot that show, given everything else Duck Tales is doing.

The prequel films did suck, but they didn't invalidate the original trilogy of the EU. Disney came in and not only invalidated the EU right out of the gate, but made movies that ruined the original trilogy.

Buy it, remove everything people liked about it and replace it with what the marketing department thinks will sell the most merchandise. Then they reluctantly started re-releasing old EU books and toys after fan pressure and merchandise for their new series was selling like shit. But the damage was already done. Star Wars Episode VII-IX should have been an adaptation of the Thrawn series. Instead, we got a non coherent story that destroyed Star Wars. With a lead character trying to be Mara Jade, but missing everything that made people like Mara Jade.

I remember buying Castle of Illusion for the exact same reason, but it's on steam right now.

Compare that to turning the awesome looking but generic baddy Darth Vader into a tragic Greek hero's tale that makes Luke redemption of his more awesome, showed how the powerful Jedi lost their power and status thanks to their overconfidence.

I thought this was a weak remake overall. The old voice cast is great and all but the dialogue they got was mostly garbage noise. I much rather play the original.
I also hate how the new Ducktales cartoon credited Jake Kaufman as the composer of the Moon Theme instead of Hiroshige Tonomura. That was a scumbag move in Disney's part.

They discarded the EU because the timeline was all stuffed up and didn't really leave any room for surprises in movies. And while the stories are gone, they still keep recycling characters and elements from the EU, and you had stuff like Thrawn becoming the villain of the Rebels cartoon.

People like Kingdom Hearts because of the juxtaposition of Disney and Stupid Anime Bullshit. The novelty of Mickey in an Edgy Bleach Trenchcoat fighting like Prequel Yoda or Donald Duck shoop da whooping some whitehaired pretty boy is what gets people to try and invest themselves into the garbage storyline and zipping around Halloweentown like Naruto on Crack is a huge part of that gameplay you say sells that franchise.

The thing that made those movies (and his parks and everything else) work was the people under Disney. The artists and directors who did the actual work while Disney just made suggestions in pre production and edits in post production.

Then, when Disney was gone, all the problems in the company magnified, as CEOs with even less understanding of the business took over. And kept trying to kill traditional animation, finally succeeding with Pixar and Dreamworks.

Because it's not on the chopping block yet.

They discarded the EU because Kathleen Kennedy wanted to replace it all with her woke trilogy. Can't have characters like Mara Jade, Talon Karrde and Thrawn when you're about to make movies with Generic Mary Sue, Generic Han Solo clone and Generic Hitler stand in.

Problem is, none of those characters got as popular as Mara, Talon or Thrawn. So now they've fucked the "canon" and the EU both. And fans are giving up on Star Wars in droves. So what do they do? Get the original author of Thrawn to rewrite a whole new novel that retcons his own trilogy and reintroduces Thrawn....without any of the other supporting characters. And wow, look at that. Nobody cares about that new novel. So now Disney is rushing to make an Old Republic reboot. And when that doesn't work, I guarantee you 100% they're going to reboot the original trilogy and prequels. Because Disney can't do anything but reboots now.

hercules is kind of enjoyable in a really really brainless sort of way but come on dude, it's not a good movie. the plot doesn't even try to make sense.

The Black Cauldron was done under Eisner and Katsenburg. Katsenburg was so motivated to kill 2D animation, he sabotauged the movie to try and make it fail. Going as far as editing the movie himself and removing all the context from the film. They only made more animated movies because Katsenburg was ousted and Roger Rabbit convinced Eisner to make more.

Little Mermaid was made after The Black Cauldron. And a bunch of the movies this chart puts under Roy or Walt are shit as well. Disney as a company was in trouble even when Walt was alive.

There is a bit of my point that does a bit, and it's the thing about pseudotaylorism, which was sort of a novel way of understanding and channeling the creation of animation (completely separate the teams in parts instead of having animators do whole compositions, wish I had the book I took that from to source it), with special education dedicated specifically for the animation Disney created, closing the circle.

My original post did not try to give Disney more importance than he really had (as I said, he only acted as a self proclaimed father figure and took everything personally, as you may already know, and most everyone hated that), but the system he used worked wonders and has been the blueprint of any studio to follow (not to his originality, let's be honest, but by doing good results first, I think Terrytoons came first in that regard?). Of course, firing all the good artists because of labour issues you created or because of a red scare doesn't help his case or any of the production of the company after the 40s.
