Metal Gear Solid 4 was kind of sad throughout. I was surprised at how cold Meryl was to Snake. And seeing those flashbacks the way he did almost seemed like he had PTSD, something I wouldn't expect from a hardened soldier.

I loved everything about it. Interesting setting, thematic music, fun characters and plenty of little variations in combat and story depending on how you set up your party. It kind of surprised me with how much detail was put into it.
