Hard disagree. Its status output is crazy good, but rapid-fire normal 2 has the problem of only firing in one direction per burst, which gets annoying in multi where the monster spazzes out. It's the objective "worse" of the 3 ranged weapons... which doesn't mean much since it's still a ranged weapon.

I'd love it to be tropically themed, with a return of underwater combat. People hated it because the camera controls sucked dick, which is no longer a problem. Heavy emphasis on crabs and amphibious monsters at lowest altitudes and shoreline, moving inland to dense jungles full of monkeys and big cat-style monsters, and then a volcanic peak with wyverns and fire/lava themed monsters.

They didn't even bother porting 4U to switch and barely bothered to port GU. PS4 is a no go

"trying to explain fantasy thing in real-world terms" has been a nerd hobby for decades. Besides, verisimilitude is a pretty huge part of the MH monster design process. They make a point to make them seem "realistic" but still unreal. There are explanations for how and what they do, no matter how unfeasible.

To me, zinogre having a symbiotic relationship with electrically conductive lice living in its fur is infinitely cooler than it being a magic wolf that shoots lightning spells.

MHFreedom 1 is just MH1 with Garuga and without the online town. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is a new game similar to Generations or Portable 3rd. Has a new village, new storyline, starting area is the snowy mountains instead of the jungle, and two new monsters (Tigrex and Akantor). MHFU is the g-rank version of F2 with lots of QOL updates, Nargacuga, Ukanlos, King Shakalaka, Queen Vespoid, Hypnocatrice, Lavasioth, Yama Tsukami, Plum Daimyo Hermitaur, Terra Shogun Ceanataur, Emerald Congalala, Copper Blangonga, and a new area, the Great Forest. There's a lot of unique stuff between the games. For example, in MH2 every area had an origianl version of the theme, but then in F2 they changed the Snowy Mountains theme to something entirely new, and then in MHFU they changed all of the tracks except the new snowy mountains and returning maps from generation 1 to their frontier versions. Monster Hunter Dos (MH2) also has a town, Dundorma, which doesn't appear anywhere else until 4U. Dos also has a day night cycle, town building system, season system, 3-way item crafting, and other stuff like that.
In response to this, I'd say that MHFU is the only game that you NEED to play. Emulate it on PPSSPP. But you might want to get used to it by playing through a bit of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, which is very similar to 3 Ultimate with one monster that they didn't port to 3U iirc. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is pointless to play compared to Freedom Unite. Freedom 1 on the other hand, has almost no unique content, but if you are a big fan, then I'd recommend playing it just to get an idea of how the series started. Also keep in mind that it is not very good at all. FU is basically the earliest game which is still really fun and isn't directly invalidated by another entry in the series

SA has sidestep. World even gave it a front dash. That's all tge defense you need, specially with the evade (window) skill.
Problem was that world chaged sword moveset. It no longer has the reliable infinite shirt swing combos.
Short animations and side steps are best defense. Ask evade lancers. Specifically in 4U where evade3 was a thing.

Even with Evade +1 (Evade 3 in World) you can skim straight through a lot of attacks with just sidesteps. It's way better than trying to use Guard on AT Nerg with Lance, fucker is basically an overgrown Garuga with how you need to deal with the shoulder slams

The MH team is very particular about trying to make monsters at least kind of biologically plausible, and there's just no polycephalic organisms outside of genetic defects, or at least I think that's the excuse

That's the point of Nakarkos, they were trying to think of a way to make a hydra monster, and I think it's pretty clear to me that Nakarkos was based off of the crypt hydra

Protip: There's enough time between successfully completing a mount and landing on the ground to pop a might pill for a huge party wide atk buff. Also Astera Jerky and Sushifish Scales are strong and very helpful as they provide an instant heal similar to a Life Powder.

Depends on the parts you're after, but capturing tends to give better odds on rare parts

Some parts are more likely from captures, usually shit like sacs and gems but it varies from monster to monster
I think the Capture Master skill gets you more rewards from capturing? Not many sets have it though.

Coming back to GU after World I realized how annoying it is to look up weapon trees while MHW had them already in view. Why the fuck did they took this long to implement that?

It wasn't so bad in previous games where you could at least see what the current weapon you had upgraded to, but hiding the upgrade branches behind ??? if you didn't level a weapon enough was retarded. Everything about Gen's weapon upgrade system was retarded.

Probably because they used to sell you guidebooks with that sort of info. Hell, hitzone charts are still sold in data books. The in game one is vague as hell too.

if you are getting gems i think its better to kill and cut the tail, you get more carves that way

Been trying out charge blade, and while it's a lot of fun I'm just so used to UgaDuga with my hammer so getting in place with this fucking thing throws me off a bit.
