This game was great until you upgraded your skills and weapons. In the beginning you try to fight a couple zombies at a time, but you can get overwhelmed quickly. Discretion was key, learning to avoid fights and be smart about it. Then you level up enough and can craft tons of weapons that can one shot zombies and explosives to mow down groups. You didn't care about making too much noise and attracting more zombies since they were an annoyance at that point. Even the special types of zombies and the giga zombies that come out at night aren't too much of a hassle. Hope the second game fixes the difficulty curve a bit.

guns broke the game more than any weapon you can craft. You could single-headshot most enemies and if you met some human enemies once in a while you were never going to run out.

Still think it was fun and integral to the game that you become accustomed to it in a way that normal zombies are more of an obstacle than an enemy or threat.

I would say the grappling hook is the peak of what you mentioned. Yeah it was pretty fun to use but it trivialized the whole parkour aspect of the game, which happens to be most of it.

Even in a new season, they don't reset your score completely, that would be chaos as all the bronze players would be matched against grandmaster players for the first few matches until people's scores slowly changed to better reflect their skill.

Zero is the only one I really look forward to anymore, even if the ace squadron fights lose a bit of magic when you realize you're only ever fighting like three to four tops. King's Field 1 (the US one) is a classic IMO and extremely overlooked on lists of classic RPGs. You can tell it's a From game because they give you a huge interconnected world to explore but just drop you in, shipwrecked on the coast of this island with no real direction you have to go in.

If you go the wrong way, you might come across an early-midgame boss within the first minute, or you might accidentally walk off the shoreline into the deep ocean and drown.

If you go the right way you might stumble across a hidden magic spell within the first 5-10 minutes that'll give you an edge against some early game mobs. The combat is very slow/clunky by today's standards, but it's ABSOLUTELY worth playing.
