A bit of background. since last year there has been an ever so slight rumor about a Japanese Role-Playing game staring characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in development. With constant delays and P5R around the corner, the project had its reveal pushed back to Gamescom.
>No title yet, just Sonic RPG 2020 for now, developed by Atlus >New character from Sonic Forces reappears at the end of the cutscene. I guess that's supposed to be a big reveal >Is mentioned to be a mainline game >Pure action combat, reminds me of Tales of Zesteria/Berseria >Not much shown, teased further information at Tokyo Game Show in September. >Artstyle looks like a mix of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Persona 5.
>Sonic Unleashed PC port, Winter. >Apparently isn't coming to EGS.
I'm guessing this fake RPG rumor is going to be Segas counterpart of Mother 3.
Camden Peterson
Isn't Infinite really popular in Japan?
Carson Sullivan
Why the fuck would you put Sonic in a JRPG? Why is Sega so fucking stupid?
Ryder Bailey
How would you even turn Sonic into an action rpg.?
Dominic Lewis
i truly trust this leak >Sonic Unleashed PC port, Winter. even more so now
Landon Price
doesn't matter. infinite’s been put on the blacklist alongside black doom and Mephiles meaning he won’t show up ever again and spin offs and the comics aren’t allowed to use him ever.
Almost forgot about Mania. Could you picture a timeline where Mania didn't exist, and we're still stuck in the dark ages? Thank God for Mania.
Levi Edwards
>Sonic Unleashed PC port No Switch port? Wow this guy is 100% legit
Ayden Diaz
Wow a Sonic RPG just what the fans wanted. I hope they put Adventure in the title.
Adrian Hall
A sonic rpg could be great, as long as they don't follow what Chronicles did.
Luis Smith
This. With the exception of Generations, ASRT and Mania, everything beyond Colours has been absolutely soulless. Lost World, Forces and TSR just reek of cash-grabs, albeit for different reasons, and the less said about Boom, the better.
Aaron Harris
Sonic Adventure 1 was almost an RPG
Eli Gray
Will they at last kill the IP? go SEGA go
Charles Wood
Remember when we got a sonic platformer every fucking year? What a time to be alive >2001: Sonic Advance >2002: Sonic Advance 2 >2003: Sonic Heroes >2004: Sonic Advance 3 >2005: Shadow and Sonic Rush >2006: 06 / Secret Rings (skip this year) >2007: Rush Adventure >2008: Unleashed >2009: Black Knight (underrated tbqh) >2010: Colors Wii / Colors DS (Rush 3) >2011: Generations
Jaxon Reed
What was the name of this channel? I'm not into Ponyshit, but the amount of effort that goes into the animations is Godlike.
Jaxon Taylor
Hey man Megaman had 5 games of that and it was mostly good
Xavier Collins
ye and this yearly release shit nearly killed the franchise
Aiden Brown
Please tell me it will come to Switch. Sonic has no fucking excuse.
Andrew Diaz
>Sonic RPG developed by Atlus At least I laughed, have a (You)
Elijah Perez
Of course nimrod. Sonic sells boatloads on nintendo stuff.
Luis Clark
You can date Shadow in this game?
Thomas Walker
Sure, but this is Atlus we're talking about. The same company that though Persona 5 Ultra Sun and Moon was a good idea.
Ryan Evans
Source: ass
Elijah Peterson
>Sonic RPG Hard pass. Sonic isn't meant for an RPG and the lack of coherency Sonic Team has put into Sonic's world(s) would make it a disaster.
The Mario series has no coherency and Mario RPGs are fantastic.
Nolan Cook
>isn't coming to EGS Aside from Shenmue III which is published by a shitty western company has any Japanese games ever even come to the EGS?
Isaiah Cook
How do you expect anyone believe this shit? Especially when you say things like >Sonic Unleashed PC port
Alexander Gomez
Favorite games of: >Velvet - Shadow the Hedgehog >Eleanor - Sonic Generations >Magilou - Sonic 2006 >Laphi - Sonic Mania >Rokurou - Sonic 3 >Eizen - Sonic & Knuckles >Bienfu - Project XXX: Love Potion Disaster
Carter Rodriguez
SEGA has been Listening to Westernshitters about Sonic for a decade now sadly
Not even actual Sonic Western Fans, just the autistic "Critics" who think Sonic Is supposed to be exactly like the commercials they watched as kids
Jaxson Cooper
Does Tetris Effect count?
Luis Campbell
None so far. Twin Mirror is published by Bandai Namco but is developed by Dontnod, and namco no longer associates with the pc version after it went EGS exclusive
Bentley Diaz
>Sonic RPG 2020 HYPE
Isaiah Perez
I hate Forces why does SEGA keep referencing it?
Kayden Fisher
Kinda is, but so is Mephiles and he hasn't been brought back. Though Sonic Team were originally planning to put him in Forces.
Infinite is in a weird area, he hasn't been mentioned much anywhere since Forces came out and Ian Flynn who writes the IDW Sonic comic says SEGA has asked them to not use him.
Julian Gray
I don't think SEGA has much at all.
Caleb Lee
>>Sonic Unleashed PC port, Winter. Literally the only thing in this post I care about. You better be right OP
this stinks of someone who saw the "unannounced AAA SEGA game at gamescom" thread and decided to invent the most ludicrous bullshit possible to fill the slot
Not that guy, but it was developed by a japanese studio so I think it counts. Did EGS fund the game or did they just swipe it when it was nearly done?
Austin Richardson
Not sure, I don't think it had a Steam page or SteamDB entry. I know the VR portion needs Steam to run, which is kinda funny.
William Perez
>>Pure action combat, reminds me of Tales of Zesteria/Berseria After how badly Rise of Lyric flopped? Not a fucking chance.
Jaxon Perez
Also, Tetris Effect was a PS4 exclusive first, so them funding the game specifically doesn't seem to be the case. At most they could've paid for a port, but again I'm not sure of the specifics
Easton Watson
Before Mania? Adventure 2.
Generations is an okay game, but definitely not "truly great". Nostalgia is most it had going for it. Take that away and it's not even as good as Colors or Unleashed.
Lucas Rivera
>Implying Mania was a good thing Get ready for The Sonic version of NSMB
Luis White
They can make a good Sonic story, they just need to either ignore every story/lore element from the existing games, or ignore every story/lore element past a certain game (I'd say either Adventure 2 or Shadow + Rush and Rush Adventure).
Adrian Fisher
We already got that in 2009.
Jace King
Sonic 4 was nearly 10 years ago, dude Also if Sega was smart, they'd allow the Mania team to ditch the "returning zones" gimmick in their next game(that's IF they come back to make one - again, if Sega was smart)
