What was your honest reaction when you first saw this back in 2000?

k-k-k-KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!????? RED FROM THE KANTOOOOO REGION ??
I never played this game
how am I supposed to remember how I reacted when I was 7? I have incredibly fond memories of silver and crystal, so I probably thought it was pretty god damn cool
I also don't remember the original team I used back when I played the game boy games yet I often see people asking that on /vp/
I never figured out how to get to Mt. Silver.
oh my GODDDDDD, MY CHILDHOOD IS BACK!
I was mostly interested in seeing if his team was like mine. I certainly did not expect the Espeon, and I'm not happy with them adding Pikachu since it wasn't relevant when the first game came out, but overall a nice surprise.
I only dreamed about getting a gameboy back in 2000
I honestly thought I was fighting myself, couldn't tell the difference between pixels of the two characters. Let the record show that I beat silver's elite 4 first, then beat yellow, then came back to silver and fought red after getting the rest of the badges.
I didn't play Silver until 2002
Can you at least remember your starter? Surely you were a Typhlosion chad
This
I was actually pretty upset he had all three starters.
Well I'm a pretty boring guy so whenever I replay one (which is rare already) I use the same party every time, although I rarely finish the game. This really only applies to Ruby and Diamond.
Same here, never had a gameboy the best i could do to play was emulate the game thanks to a cousin
i don’t know, i wasn’t born yet.
Red? But I played Blue!
>Wow so cool! They put Ash in the game! Wait... I thought I was Ash?
idk i never beat E4 ;____;
Did anyone else put all their pokemon except the starter in the PC when going to kanto?
It made it feel like a new adventure. Going on the ship to a new world with a fresh start.
Cool.
That's literally it. I wasn't flipping out because Kanto was basically a glorified underleveled boss rush that got rid of most of the parts of said region that made it memorable. I wasn't going to ignore all of that just because I can fight Red.
yeah, I definitely remember that much. first time in red I went with charmander and first time in silver I went with cyndaquil. the battery is dead on both my silver and crystal cartridges so I can't check, but I did check my red a while back and I have a blastoise and shit so at some point I reset my original save and started over
I really miss the days before data mining and wikias and whatnot. sure they're invaluable resources, but they unironically suck the soul out of things. there's no sense of adventure when you know everything beforehand. gone are the days of schoolyard rumors of moving the truck to get a mew, or people trying to explain how to do the missingno glitch to dupe rare candies
No, because the Kanto region was hyper-levelled which made it difficult for a fresh start. Not that I had a problem with it. I enjoyed it the second half of the story, it's the best endgame content I think.
I know it's not really a second world, but I tried to take my time and do the gyms in order as much as you could.
Probably the most Kino moment on a gaming handheld at the time
But I wasn't even born yet!
When people ask questions on Yea Forums they're addressing multiple people other than yourself you fucking autist
Do you respond to amazon questions that you can't answer by saying I don't know?
Idk I probably saved the game after getting raped by all the Mt Silver encounters. Then I fought this fucker and lost. Winning him was pretty great though, but mostly because of the pretty credits that roll after beating him.
Kanto was so melancholic. Like visiting your old neighborhood where you grew up and seeing half the houses abandoned. The dialogue was really strange too.
I thought this was the greatest day of my gaming life. Sadly, Pkmn only went downhill from here.
