Agreed. I always felt odd about how much hate it got, I liked the level of exploration the isometric view allowed, and while the momentum could have been better, I think it was possible to get there with some time and tech.
It's still a flawed game, but I can't help but appreciate it.

I think Chao are overrated. I see everyone asking SEGA to bring them back but while they were a fun addition to the games, that I also spent a lot of time with, they're still just extra content. Sonic Team needs to focus on making a good sonic game first and I'd rather have a barebone but amazing sonic game than a sonic game full of gimicks and extras that's garbage.
