I feel like I have fooled myself into VR because the only things I see in the store is...
Rehashed old games that I have to pay full price for.
Tech demos that cost the same amount as a new triple A title
Scammers that promise a bunch of shit but give you 10 minutes of gameplay
Walking Sim....a LOT of walking sim
I feel like the whole VR community are coping and has fooled themself into believing that it’s great so they don’t come to the sad realization that it’s a gimmick with no potential and they have just spend 1000$ on 10 minutes of fun...

VR is great, but is often said, the software really isn't there yet, not enough full experiences and I'm starting to wonder if VR is even suited for a "full experience"
That said I'm constantly looking for an excuse to whip it out, I drunk VR chat essentially weekly and cannot overstate how much I enjoy it as a person who otherwise doesn't drink.
That said I have a lot of friends that introduced me to it, it might be more difficult to start with no friends though I've never struggled to meet people in it.
I don't regret getting it, on the contrary I quite want to upgrade from the rift to an index but I hope to wait until valve sorts out some of the issues with the headset and controllers.
This isn't a monitor replacement, don't go into this expecting something you are going to use 24/7, this is something you own for those moments when you don't want to lazily play the same video game you've sunk thousands of hours into while watching youtube videos, you want to fully immerse yourself and dedicate all of your attention to it

Genuine problem, I was super disheartened when I originally got it because I couldn't play more than a minute without ripping my headset off
The upside is once you get spooked a few times and start to realize it's not so bad it becomes much more manageable though if you still struggle you can do what I initially did, flip the headphones up so they aren't directly on your ear, reset the play space so you can play sitting down, and have something light hearted playing on an off screen just loud enough so you can hear it, not loud enough to drown out sound cues

VR could have been good. But it was failed by 1 thing. I call it the irony problem. You had VR "ironic" games at the front line. Example is that gun game that every streamer was playing "ironically". Then the political hacks came in with walking simulators moaning about sexuality's and genders and all that other shit. VR is considered a thing you do "ironically"" now. So no serious development ever goes in to it. My bet is if you had a game like a JRPG where you could kill monsters with a big fuck off sword in VR it would have been a great start. Instead you get "ironic" streamer bait jump scares FNAF. Not anything of substance. That is what kills VR.
Just play regular games like prey and alien with goggles, that was their initial selling point.

I don't understand the hate vr is getting on Yea Forums I have had a great time so far in elite dangerous with my hotas setup, skyrim vr ate a bunch of time. I'm also making my own little projects in unity, where I fly around in a spaceship, drive a shitty car, look at lewd animated models. I also occasionally watch movies and play regular games in big screen.
VR is unquestionably the future of media, it will be shrunk down to the size of regular glasses, combined VR and AR tech to be used in our daily lives and for productivity. Seems like most of you just lack imagination

Dunno if any porn games utilize the knuckles, as for the headset itd just be mucher clearer/higher res than a standard rift or give, with a greater fov, though there are reports of very bad glare under certain conditions
