Bit Crusade 3 is an adventure series of Mario levels that play in the traditional sense (scaling difficulty, hidden rooms and level theming). So if you like traditional Mario stages you’ll probably like these. The “game” will eventually utilize all 5 styles so there’s a little something for everyone. Every stage has five red coins hidden within that unlock an optional mega bonus room at the end.

Very fun, I love claws and ice so it's a great fit for me. No complaints at all, well made and fair powerup replenishments.
Played Bile Track and really enjoyed it. Am I right in saying you're basically giving people two paths? A tough upper one that goes fast and a slower easier one at the bottom if you stay on the starter platform, yeah? I like that idea.

It's a level that plays with the way that Mario Maker loads in enemies to do some fun tricks.

Although I found the level a bit weird I was alright with it, but for you to kill people with a thwomp-activated on/off switch about ten miles after the castle night swimming section sending them all the way back to the beginning of that is not cool. Put the CP before that, not right after it.
But that aside, the level just feels a bit strange. I guess you DID call it mysterious ice cave, but it seems as though you changed your mind on what kind of obstacles, enemies etc. you wanted in it every so often.
What are some compact ways to remotely detonate bombs that don't require fire? Need some for an underwater level.

HEY you new makers. Make sure you check out Yamamura's dojo. There is a lot of neat stuff in there that'll help you make better levels. Mainly focus on the do-nots. I'm glad they included something like this in MM2. I'm playing too many levels were the screen doesn't scroll properly and enemies pop out of nowhere off screen for easy gibs. It's fine if you're trolling (I know troll levels when I see them), but it's quite a common mistake that can be easily avoided. Players want to enjoy your levels, but I feel there are unwritten guidelines that can be placed into effect.
The best advice I actually got from Barb when he got angry at a precision level.

Creator of bile track here, to answer your question yes I did exactly that. I like to give players options whenever possible on some of my levels.
What do you use to record?
The Switch. If you hold down the capture button for like 2 seconds or so it saves the last 30 seconds instead of taking a screenshot.
What's weird is that sometimes it records them in varying resolutions though... I think it depends on how long the clip you save is after trimming it, the longer the shittier it looks.

This completes the SMB1 Desert "World" I've been making. It's a tough, longer sort of level that uses every single enemy and gizmo from the first 3 in the set.
Here's the full world, in case you haven't played the first three. I think the experience would help. It'd be nice if Nintendo implemented a way to play all of these levels with persistent power-ups and lives, but oh well.

I intend on giving a similar treatment to Plantgang Hideout, War over Winter, and Haunted Block Bridge. If I wanted to expand it into a full SMB1 32-level experience that would also mean ground, underground, water, and sky worlds, but the only one of those I'm particularly interested in is Sky, and I loathe water levels since we have no equivalent to the frog suit and default mario swimming is utter dogshit.

I just found a glitch/minor feature? I'm not sure, regarding the twisters. If you stand on a platform with a twister a few tiles under you, you still get propelled up a bit. However if you duck and hold down the jump button, you stay glued to the ground.

I'm going to give you my very first level from Mario Maker 1 ported over to Mario Maker 2. I made a few minor modifications but it is for the most part, the original level.

do the vanilla joycons not have letters on them? i don't remember, but i had to buy replacements and the triggers clearly say ZR and ZL respectively
Some general ones often used
Z = Spin Jump, or Yoshi/Boot dismount
Curved track = Air Twirl
Coins = Land here, with 2 coins meaning land here twice
2 standalone Blocks in the ceiling = triple jump
A down arrow partially inside the ground usually represents the player needs to duck. Forward arrows in the ground usually mean you need to be fast and start running.
A complete box track is a hidden block. A horizontal track line also represents a row of hidden blocks, typically cheese-preventing ones.
A box open on one side shows that they want you to throw a shell or something else in that direction.
Some tricks also have unique indicators

Thought: Nintendo should let us see how many boos we have in a level.
Let's say we have a course made for systems A, which is the current system, and B, which shows the number of boos. Let's take the a level with say 100 plays and 50 likes. Under system A, we don't know how many people thought the level was "Meh" or gave it a boo. Now with system B, we now know many people disliked the level enough to give it a boo. This allows us to compare levels to see which was more liked by the population.
Let's say we have another two levels C and D. C has 100 plays, 25 likes and 20 boos, D has 100 plays, 25 likes but 5 boos. This allows us to objectively see what level fared better, which the current system, you wouldn't be able to see which level people liked better.
Making boos public, such as it is with clears and likes, would also help with people who boo for no reason, since there are no repercussion for booing every level you come across. It also allows people to genuinely think about if the level is worth booing.

Seeing boos connected to a name would lead to an insane amount of retaliation boos. I do agree there is a need for more information though - maybe just the raw total # of boos for a course could be shown that purposefully updates on a delay.
I also think there should be some "why are you booing" follow up question the maker can see.

I think requiring people to post comments if they boo is also good. Because just giving me a boo doesn't help me understand WHY you didn't like it. It would help me as a developer improve if people were required to tell me why they didn't like the level.

Figured I would sell my second level a little, see what people think! It's gotten some plays but I still feel it could have more visibility. But before that, as always, I'll recommend you all a course I've liked lately and feel like it's underappreciated.

"Collect all 100 ancient coins to pay ransom demanded by an alien overlord". Not gonna lie, I'm taking the creator's words for this alien overlord guy, since I've been unable to finish the course. This is ultra-precise platforming, each coin a little bastard you have to really work for, each challenge more devious than the last, combining together with the lack of checkpoints (that I know of, I haven't finished it as I said) to take you down and make you cry. It's strangely alluring, though, and doesn't feel empty like so many courses focused on making you suffer. You feel inside this horrid temple every second, the atmosphere is spot on every time, and the satisfaction of nailing a portion of the course will keep you going. I know I'm still trying.
ANYWAY HERE'S THE SECOND LEVEL I MADE PLEASE PLAY IT IT TOOK ME FOREVER

It’s called intrinsic value user. Not every stage needs to be hard as fuck or some kind of precision skill test for folks to stroke their e-peen over for beating it. Some people just wanna play stages to have fun on them. Isn’t that the point of playing games? To have fun? It’s a major problem with expert endless and beyond though I agree, you almost never see traditional courses there.

i think i saw maybe 10 levels that are traditional since i bought the game and 3 of them came from this guy
Generals are for games that are one and done, with no new content to discuss. In the case of one of those games getting DLC or content updates then they're free to be discussed on Yea Forums again for a period of time.
A game like Mario Maker is an exception because, due to it’s nature, new playable content is perpetually being generated by it’s user base. These threads are useful and on topic for Yea Forums, and I think you have to be a little touched with autism to believe otherwise.

You can build original concepts into traditional mario course design and mid-late game NSLU levels are expert difficulty easily. The idea is to design it like a course in an actual video game instead of autistic meta bullshit.
Its just for decoration. I was going make a way to get over the flag pole and find a secret but I didn't have enough room to make anything interesting. Its still technically possible to get up there, but its not easy.

I havent made any new courses but I'll repost my existing ones. My plan is to make a level for each game style, and from there my plan is to make some worlds. Any feedback is welcomed. I feel like I've already run out of ideas despite only making two levels.

More of a full fledged level than my first. The Piranha Pirates have invaded on a dark and stormy night. Think you can escape?
Not bad and cool because moles. First of the three "chase" sections is very easy though because if you're quick the mole with the thwomp just turns around again before even getting near you.
I think if this level ends up being played by people in endless they would enjoy a cp before the boss but eh. Gave you a like anyhow.
Thanks user, I was doing my best to try and find a way to get the mole to keep up with mario without losing his changing weapon but was having trouble with it. If I put enemies in place he'd get turned around etc so eventually I just accepted that if you can go fast you can escape his wrath for a moment. As for the checkpoint I wasn't sure where I should put the first one- If the player died I didn't want to force them to do the "story" bit again and I can't have two checkpoints in one zone so just settled.
Maybe I could of put it in the house?

There is no "best of" meta bullshit. Its the skeleton of an actual course that people with zero creativity shit out in 5 minutes. Its like mixing paints together and not actually painting anything with them.
I spent a lot of time working on these, hopefully it will have been worth the wait!

The sequel to a personal favorite stage of my own that I made some time ago. Includes lots of goodies and lots of ways to tackle obstacles. Much like the original, if you can find and keep the sequential powerup (this time the cat suit) you’ll be rewarded with speed and fat stacks of cash. Shouldn’t be very difficult, is speedrun friendly if you know your 3DW moveset.

Yes, I threw together one of those gimmicky 20-second speedrun levels. If you like them, give this a try, if not, oh well. Probably bad timing too considering the discussion right now. Tried to make it as “eye popping” as I could (style over substance I suppose). It shouldn’t be too challenging, but you’ll probably rack up some deaths as you’re feeling out the level at first. Just hold run and follow the guides and you’ll get it pretty easily I hope.

That's pretty broad. I'm sure there are tons of regular stages already out there, it's just a matter of searching for them- I recommend searching for easy SMB1/SMB3 levels for the best results.
