Oh you mean Doom 3? Great game.
Yeah I do remember F.E.A.R.
Little Nightmares?
Thanks for the reminder.
Why yes, Bloodborne does ring a bell
Condemned? Yeah, the game was fun
Why yes, I do remember Resident Evil 4
Condemned series and System Shock 2 like others mentioned are the only ones I could say are actually decent.
>"Of course you can't pick up that weapon! Just run lol."
First one it made sense in but Outlast 2 had no fucking excuse for this
You rang
I remember Welcome to the game 2
Dead Space was amazing.
Splatterhouse games were great, shame beat em ups is a dead genre.
it's not a dead genre but the first two splatterhouse games were barely beat em ups anyway
How could I ever forget Killing Floor or F.E.A.R.?
Eternal Darkness had good gameplay
Bloodborne was great
>Great gameplay.
>Great enemy designs.
>Great music.
>Great maps.
>Great story.
>Great characters.
>Great atmosphere.
>But it's never actually scary.
>BB
>horror
not every game where you fight monsters is a horror
yes, I do remember shadow hearts 1 and 2
>linux support
Based.
there was no horror in doom 3, only jumpscares.
Are the fatal frame games any good, and can you play them in any order?
Why yes I do remember Condemned 1 and 2
Fuck you OP
>jumpscares aren't horror

Came here to post this
reminder that if you use the taser you're a scrub
They're bad horror. We aren't looking for bad horror here.
Alma is your mother.
There all tension gone.
>Doom 3
>Good gameplay
Replaying it and good is a strong word. Comically I think the DLCs are far better then the base game when it comes to combat. Throw more shit at you faster and honestly harder situations then anything in the main game. The only situation on Veteran in the main campaign I can even think of that is gay is that tiny room where a Archvile appears and 2 Barons appear on each end. But its mostly just because of the room size.
Dead space is unsettling at the start but you get used to it after a while, dead space 2 is almost completely action oriented blasting aliens like they arent shit.
Its ok to admit you are a massive pussy, no need to hide it
RE7 wasn't bad
Its ok to admit that you have no taste and that you don't actually even like horror, no need to hide it.
He said good gameplay, not tedious nighttime, horrible combat gameplay
that's because you are an ignorant zoomer.

What's that noise? I hear OP sucking dicks again.
You mean Resident Evil Remake?
>tank controls
>good
>They're bad horror. We aren't looking for bad horror here.
Horror with good gameplay.
I want to believe succubus will be good
I know I have every reason to expect it to be bad but God I want to have faith.
On a quasi related note the gameplay in lust for darkness was OK, just everything else about that game was garbage.
Jump scares were so effective at creating fear in you that you won't even play games with them. I'd say that's a pretty good testament to their effectiveness in horror, used well. And that you're a baby sissy faggot. DOOM 3 has fantastic horror atmosphere.
>not perfect for making you feel vulnerable
pleb filtered
REmake 2
This isn't true at all. What do you even think is horror?
Those are action games with horror elements, not horror games.
Cope. Jumpscares are for little children.
this any good? been thinking about picking it up recently
This
Also FEAR, even if it is more of a shooter.
Jumps ares used well can make for perfectly effective horror.
Daymare 1999 coming out this month guys, looks pretty good. Also new supermassive game, movie game but i kinda liked until dawn.
But the thread is about the quality of the gameplay, nobody said anything about the quality of the horror.
I assume people would like to find good horror games with good gameplay, not bad games with horror elements.
>looks pretty good
LMAO fuck off dev, it looks like an asset flip, FUCK OFF
Pac-Man
Who else liked The Suffering? Great game.
>monster pops up and jangles toward you like a marionette
>shoot its legs off with the plasma cutter
>repeat 1000 times until the game ends
this is one of the best horror games of all time. its atmosphere is unlike any other and it was ahead of its time by at least 4 years. the technology for a 1999 game was insane.
I wish GOG or Nightdive Studios could get the rights for it and release it for modern systems, because there is no way in hell it will run properly on anything modern.
>not realising tank controls were flawless for this kind of designed game
apply that picture to yourself
>psychological horror xdd
>good ambience xdd
>good story xdd
>entertaining and good gameplay? no fuck that
let me guess, you want a game with scary music, good "ambience", where nothing ever happens from beginning to end
Just because you can't fight back doesn't mean it has terrible gameplay
>>Great gameplay.
>>Great enemy designs.
The enemies stuck me in a corner so every re-spawn my character was doomed to die, because I could do nothing.
Damn looks like SH
this and the blair witch games, nightdive, thank you~
Bioshock 2

Jumpscares can be used well, but in most horror media they are not. They're like laughing at your own joke during a stand up routine.
Here, let me do an example of a good jumpscare from SH1.
You're in the otherworld school, and you go to the locker room. You can hear the locker rattling. You are fully expecting a jumpscare or something to happen, but you open the locker, and all you get is the text "It's nothing".
The game raised up your expectations and immediately dashed them, so now you mind is slowly coming back down and relaxing. Then, you take a few steps down the hall and a body falls out of a locker.
THAT is how you do a proper, deserved jumpscare.
>looks pretty good
u wot
Not him but Darkwood's gameplay is great. It's hard and has a learning curve before you understand the patterns and timings, but it's really satisfying when you get it down.
FaSPBP
Fatal Frame has the best combat system for a horror game. Fight me.
Play the first 2 first, order doesn't matter. After that, it doesn't really matter what order you play them in, though you might as well play 3 before the Nintendo era ones.
Literally running it right now on win10.
the first FNAF unironically scared the fuck out óf me on the first couple playthroughs
this
He said good gameplay.
Jesus Christ Yea Forums is too damn stupid to see through such an obvious recommendation thread these days.
how do i play this in 2019
it's called torrents my guy
It sounded like a comparability issue, based on the reply chain.
okay, retard
>bonechilling slowburn
Weak meme. Nobody likes cheap jumpscares.
the only thing you have to do is download it, I haven't done anything out of my way to run the game
>Weak meme. Nobody likes cheap jumpscares.
>trying to do outlast 2 on insane mode
>school section after archer duo die
>using video guides to help me through
>on the staircase the demon spawns at bottom
>guide recommends running upwards to despawn the demon instead of jumping over the balcony to escape
>dumb ass faggot forgets to mention the demon doesn't despawn but teleports to the top of the staircase instead
>run right into it's arms and get instakilled
Dumb ass Youtubers.
I just want horror games that drops the whole "you must be defenceless to the game being scary" . I mean hiding in a closet is pretty gay...
You have a nice beard and such a big mouth. Those classes are plastic I assume?
Archviles were in Doom 3?
>insane mode
>guides
What's the point of this exercise? Just play on lowest difficulty.
>survival
>battle royals
>early access
Do you even have to ask?
I'm not gonna use trial and error to get through a fucking permadeath mode with a RNG instantkilling archer enemy.
Yes. There are no barons though only hell knights. The archvile doesnt respawn enemies just spawns new ones.
The whole western vs japanese thing is fucking retarded. Just play the best games both regions have to offer
actually bad controls is a good thing for horror game.
Hard to be scared when you're powerful or it's easy to run away
best game ive played in recent memory, and the devs constantly make GOOD changes, which is unusual. Will eventually die because it's not a braindead battle royale like this retard said
>didn't feel fear at going back into the ishimura
But it is a braindead battle royale. Walk around for 15 minutes doing nothing, get headshot from across the map by a player. Literally how most of my games end. Hell if I ever see a monster
>bloodborne
>horror
It's about as much horror as Scooby-Doo.
>enemy in front of you
>click mouse
>repeat till game is finished
that's how every game is tater nuts
There needs to be better horror games. You're either too OP or too weak. There's rarely that perfect balance.
Luigis Mansion
All DooM games. Why you ask? You're playing the antagonist who's also the bad guy. Demons are automatically villains and bad guys and antagonists, which makes them worse than DooM Slayer/guy.
You're not stuck them. They're stuck with YOU.
Oh wow. Boom, Bang, Grunt! your way through every level. So fun!
>Doom
>Horror
>they never played condemned 2 bumrush mode i pity these newage dopamine addicted children
Keepers of the daek is like some arena mode.
>retard
It's called "Hunt" for a reason you dumb fuck.
>when you get it down.
Yeah I am still on that part. I wish there was just a generic punch attack.
It's a horror game from a demons perspective, of course it isn't horror in the perspective of a human. It's supposed to remove our fear of demons, demonic invasion, demonic possession and all things related to demons that could scare the average uninitiated human. But we are initiated, unlike the rest of humanity. We will never be possessed, but we can be killed by demons, assuming the demons are actually trying. Better dead than possessed.
Also, hating demons is a constitutional right and duty.
Thats not entirely wrong. RE3 had those dodge mechanics and it was not scarey at all. So did revelaitons but it was harder to pull off.
>survival
>battle royal
So you never played the game
also
>early access
1.0 goes live next week, they just announced they are moving the date up.
get fucking REKT
my nigga
Correct. Play more games OP
Also Dead Space 1-3, Re4, and Alien Isolation are all games with very deep and interesting mechanics that work well in a survival horror setting
Fantastic game, no playerbase.
RE2make
Dead Space 1
Alien Isolation
Completely disagree
System Shock 2 has completely normal FPS controls and its still scarier than any silent hill or resident evil game.
Random infinite enemy spawning and limited ammo/health are the way to go if you really want to make a player feel on edge. Being unable to never make the monsters permanently go away makes you feel constantly paranoid and afraid. Also see: Alien Isolation
/thread

etc.
Horror games can't really have good gameplay because if they give you the ability to actually fight and shit a good gamer like me will be able to clean house easily since naturally games are balanced around shitters. It wouldn't be very scary at all.
You sound like you're just bad at games.
You can knife only no damage run RE games fairly easily.
Well, after I'm done farming exp by killing one regular NPC and then running away I finally can actually get a sniper and maybe one day I'll be as good at this sniping simulator as you!
It's all timing based, I have bad reaction speed so it's a bitch. Also dood that night time spookiness.
>Put dresser against doors
>Board Windows
>Grab two lights and drag them into room
>Start hearing god awful screeching and scraping noise
>Lights flicker like Micheal j fox off his meds
>Lights so dim I can't see
>It all stops
>Door wide open and dresser across room
>Window is fucked
The later days are too spoopy
