I might switch it around with Bayonetta (that story barely made any sense to me anyways). But 4's story is certainly better than DMC2 and DmC, 5 needed more Vergil and someone crying otherwise it was just meh.

But to ensure a sequel bait story, they decided to show the negatives of a rebellion, Demon's now are free and chaos is unleashed, and in return humans have the freedom Dante thought they needed and wanted.

I don't think so, at least not in it's theme. DmC is more focused on rebellion and freedom and the punk movement fits that fashion. While OG DMC was about humanity and love, there wasn't any themes of rebelling against society and shit.
