I have the remastered first game and 4th game on my backlog shelf
Convince me to prioritize it

4 needed just as much waifushit, put in pairings ala nuFE and the game would've sold shitloads

The first one has a nice and cosy atmosphere and in my bumfuck opinion, portrays the human futility of war in a touching and bittersweet way.
The ending and character arcs still fuck me up.
Oh it's also an excellent turn-based tactics / strategy game.

The flattie alone makes 2 slightly more worth playing though

Despite it finding an audience SEGA decided ro abandon that audience and push the series on the PSvita. The sequels were also not liked by fans and that ruined the reputation of the series. When 4 came out it had lost a lot of its fanbase, despite being well received. At least that is the situation as I understand it.

4 was my first vc game. Im really glad they did that demo or else i wouldnt have picked it up. Looks clean as fuck on xbox one x also. So i went and backtracked the series. Long story short, 4 is just about equal to 3. 4 has the best maps and story but 3 is almost at the same level. 1 and 2 are shitty for different reasons. 4 = 3 > 1 > 2

VC1 had potential
in VC2 and 3, Everyone saw its ceiling (same game mechanics, stupid story, shallow characters, etc)
and then Valkyria Revolution happened
