Just stick with it. I'm terrible with execution and even I can pull of a decent vatista. Grind it for a few hours and muscle memory will start to take over.

Any help or tricks for "5A 5C j.2C xx 214A" with Orie? I try doing it in one smooth motion (9632C14A) but it doesn't come out if I input it fast so I end up doing 9632C14A214A and my wrist hates it.

My friend is interested in getting BBTAG or UNIST, which should I recommend to him? He's never played either and mainly just wants a mess around game. I only have experience in UNIST, so cannot say for sure.

Usually the timing into j.2C is the one that's harder, the cancel window into j.214A is fairly large. Maybe practice holding 2 until you see the kick animation of j.2C start before inputting the 14A.

BBTAG is pretty fun casually. I'd recommend it if his goals is just for playing it with friends that aren't into fighting games.

all the mika guides i've read always paint her ff as being bad due to it costing grid, but i really wonder if that's true considering how much everyone here uses it. maybe it's just not as effective when people's defense gets better?

Generally there is almost always more optimal routes to use during a fight. It costing GRD, being slow to use, and incredibly punishable makes it difficult to utilize safely. Most high-leveled Mikas situate the opponent in the corner for her stagger pressure even at the cost of damage since individually, all her normals are some of the best for that.

I keep trying to 3B or dashblock the divekick which is a terrible idea.

sounds like you need to step your modding game up. Walkup was playing on modded uni way back during jp only days on ps4. He never had issues with netplaying as far as I could tell.

That's because he only did color modding with netplay.
If you change actual game stuff (like pre-round movement) there's no way to make it not desync.

So I've played a lot of Mahvel and Street Fighter in the past. I've dabbled a bit in Blazblue and now I'm quite interested in UNIST. The thing is I thought it was some obscure game that wouldn't really live for long anyways. Turns out I am retarded and it looks pretty cool. So where do I begin? I've got a PC and a PS4 but I'd rather play on my pc since I fucking hate paying for online on console. How is the playerbase? Is it even alive or is it completely dead aside from discords like guilty gear?

Seconding this. I'm thinking about getting into it now too, but I'm deciding whether I should play it on PC or PS4

Playerbase has grown pretty consistently on PC if you're looking to play with randoms online in ranked and public lobbies.

You could also play with us here who are varied in skill level. We meet at 9:30PM PST Sunday-Thursday and usually play til 12:30AM-1:00AM PST and sometimes later if people are able to play longer.

Discord is an okay source to find players but I like what we've got going here personally and went from mashing new player to halfway-decent mostly just playing in these lobbies.

At least half of us double dip PC and PS4 and lately new PC players are coming in so if you want to save dosh and not pay a subscription you'll find people here for PC lobbies and outside of here as well during the off-time.

Most of the regulars who're generally the best ones here regularly play on PS4 though you'll still find big challenges on PC as well from time to time if you're looking for hard opponents as well.

Looking forward to seeing you guys in the future no matter the platform and hope you stick with it as well.
