Healers, warriors and rogues. Healers get a AQ40 tier healing mace that was added in 1.11 patch. Warriors and Rogues get a better sword that was also added in the 1.11 patch. It has like 10 more dps than the previous R14 sword.

I can see there's some vanilla WoW virgins here. Let me give you a few tips -

If you are a hunter you will not be getting into a guild
If you have a Japanese name you are 500% more likely to cause guild drama and you will be treated appropriately
The tank is always the group leader, always. Do not question him.
If a healer says wait, you wait.
When asking a mage for food be polite and tip if you can afford it
Druids do not do good DPS.
When forming a group find a tank and healer first, then fill DPS.
If you are a warlock don't expect to get into a guild that already has a couple of them. Nobody needs you, you are useless in vanilla.

Damn I remember those spells. Oh man I'm having flashbacks of bad warlocks just thinking about that shit. The warriors would have to shoot first in order for the succubus to not aggro a nearby group. And the warlock had to have good timing when to seduce or else it would be too close to cleave effects from the melee player damage. I played an undead mage in vanilla WoW and good warlocks were rare as fuck.

Good warlocks promote the whole classz same for hunters. Its a class with a lot of potential but for most players its useless.

Yes, tier gear is for tanking. However there's plenty of DPS non tier plate, mail and even leather also available. Tier 2.5 (AQ40) is considered good for DPS and there's quite a few pieces that are crafted that are considered BiS or close to BiS up until late Naxx.
They might be expensive, but investing in those crafted pieces mean not having to try and fill those slots for 90% of Classic raiding.
Depending on your raid group, armour types might have priority to the class that supposed to use them even if you have the highest DKP. Same goes with Range weapons for Hunters first and Melee for non-hunters.
Other guilds however will just say fuck it and give loot to who ever had the highest DKP regardless of if it would be a much better upgrade for someone else.
Gearing up will really just depend on your guild. As a DPS Warrior, expect to get at least some tier pieces eventually as most raids will only have 2 dedicated tanks with the rest being off-tank fury warriors.

You’re retarded, hunters don’t do that great of damage in raids but they are absolutely necessary for tranq shot and also for kiting adds during boss fights. They can also save a raid from having to corpse run after a boss wipe if they feign death and jumper cable one of the healers so they can rez everyone. Also if you aren’t a lazy hunter and actually abuse feign death trinket swapping your dps will be much better.
Warlocks bring tons of utility to raids such a banish and soul/health stones as well as boosting mage damage. They also do fantastic damage in the later raid tiers and are also able to summon everyone to the raid making actually getting to the raid much easier. Kill you self you know nothing wotlk baby.

Really not that bad, will of the forsaken has a longish cool down and as a warlock you have multiple fears and one of them can just be cast again even if the trinket out of the first. It’s actually much more punishing for alliance shadow priest as their fear has a larger cooldown so they can’t spam it after he undead trinkets out of it.

So you want your character's progress to stagnate, you want your friends to abandon you as they progress to higher tiers, and you don't want to see about 50% of the world of warcraft that isn't in the open world?

DPS Warriors use melee non-tier offsets; tanks use tier gear for damage mitigation (usually done when progressing) or a mix of melee non-tier offsets and tier gear for some mitigation and higher threat (typically done when a raid is "on farm"). At super advanced levels (typically AQ or Naxx) tanks will just go for mainly threat and fill in the mitigation blanks with potions and buffs.

Are you stupid or something? They are the only class with an execute phase. Their DPS is extremely strong. With gear +hit and +crit they become the best melee DPS for pure numbers by, or near to, endgame (AQ+).

Warriors were number 1 dps in all tiers of vailla tough.

Not all tiers, no, they were high, but not all tiers.
Early on rogues will be the better melee DPS. When warriors start getting good amounts of +hit and +crit they start overtaking rogues overall (but rogues are still good, it's almost like the rogue and warrior's positions change at high raid tiers relative to low ones).
However it's a crapshoot, rogues are good DPS for the 80% HP of a boss fight, and warriors really shine and do most of their damage in the last 20% due to execute spam being an absolutely face-meltingly insane DPS boost.

How much time should a tank live without heals to be considered acceptable? I'm trying to figure out how much threat gear I can get away with.

In terms of PVP, especially duels being a troll SP is the best choice in terms of racials because Shadowguard can proc blackout and shadow weaving and your curse of weakness or whatever it is called is very good aswell, devouring plague is not as good as people make it out to be and it costs a shitload of mana so if you're against someone who can remove disease you just wasted 985 mana

For my Holy build i go something with reckoning. classicdb.ch/?talent#sxxuMxoZVMpccbv, I never really cared for Holy shock and this build lets me never die or go oom while being able to defend myself. Dwarf is the choice race cuz i like stoneform. Points can be removed from Spiritual Focus and put into imp SoR for more damage but you'd have to use Conc aura more often which is usually fine. I take Divine Strength instead of int since i would be wearing healing gear.

For mage i've always liked the elemental build. not as much survivability as the typical ice barrier/counterspell build but is more fun to play with Scorch and imp CoC Shatters.(And Blast wave is cool). classicdb.ch/?talent#oZVgMzMczZVVGhobth

With all these builds points can be moved around here and there obviously, but there is generally a solid gameplay theme surrounding each spec.

if you are gonna heal with both, priest is a pain in the ass to level up solo but everyone will invite to dungeons same with shaman as a healer thing is for raids people prefers priest.

Shadow does good damage in raids, it just runs out of mana to fast to do it consistently. Optimal Shadow play is to keep 5 stacks of shadow weaving on key targets and then to help burst down key targets like adds or burn phase.
That is way more useful than a gimped healer.

They already have. Pretty much all the popular private servers had greatly increased spawn rates on Black Lotus used for flask. This meant most members of a raid will have flasks, not just the tank. Considering that flasks in Vanilla gave roughly a 20-30% buff to a stat, the whole raid having one made many fights significantly easier. This won't happen in Classic, Black Lotus was so rare that you would be lucky to even have a single flask per raid night for your main tank.

Druid or Warrior? I like tanking dungeons. I find character progression more satisfying on a Warrior, your weapons aren't stat sticks, you see your gear & grow stronger in a more linear way. At 52 your chance to hit 60 level targets is roughly 50%. On top of that, your frostbolts deal about 350 damage due to lack of spell damage, while a 60 warrior in blue pvp gear should have 5k or more hp.

People want to make a gearscore for vanilla but it would never actually work the way GS or iLvL works since what makes gear good can be completely arbitrary and really hard to easily rate without just manually scoring literally every item based on how good it is for every possible spec, which is more work than just inspecting people.

How does that gimp your healing more than having one less healer? Speccing weaving as opposed to full 31/20 Dic doesn't make you suffer a lot healing power anyway.
Shadows deals absolute fucking garbage dps in raids and doesn't even come close to a real dps with equal skill and consumes/buffs.

A "gimped" healer isn't much of a problem as maybe a couple of fights in WoW actually force a healer to use 100% of their capacity. Meanwhile more dps is always useful. There is reason why EVERY Priest is Disc specced for Power Infusion. Optimal play is for the weaver to keep 5 stacks up on key targets and then continue to heal at 80% power as opposed to dealing 50% dmg of a real dps.

I'm having this debate too. What it boils down to is WotF vs Hardiness.

As a horde lock, you have a lower chance of being feared because warlock is less popular on alliance in vanilla. Granted, this could be different in classic.

However, for the sake of argument, we well assume that both factions have an equal amount of locks. Even so, how likely is a warlock going to fear another warlock? Outside of that, how likely still would one be hit by priest or warrior fears? As a lock, you keep your distance and take out enemies from afar, so that protects one from being feared.

Now for Hardiness: I believe that a warlock is much more likely to be stunned in combat than feared. Rogues are a given here, and being able to resist the initial stun lock is a game changer. Then there's paladins, whose only CC is Hammer of Justice, and if you resist that, then the paladin is going to have a harder time of it. Same thing with warriors and druids. Then you have to consider all of the items, like tidal charm and grenades, that can stun you at any time during combat. Because of all these potential stunning opportunities in PvP, it would make Hardiness seem very strong indeed.

Now one could argue that wotf is better in pve, and that's probably true considering that a lot of pve stuns are event ones that can't be resisted. However, there are other ways of dealing with fear, such as Tremor Totem. Cannibalize is also nice for those times when you need a health boost while life tapping, but in PvP that can make you temporarily vulnerable. That said, you should have healthstones, bandages, and health potions to help manage that, and drain life too. I'm not saying that cannibalize is bad, I'm just saying that I think people overrate it.

If I had to choose, I would probably pick orc. Hardiness is just so fucking good man, and you're going to kick yourself when you get your ass kicked by rogues and you couldn't do anything about it because you were stunlocked.

Something to bear in mind is that while forsaken have WoTF, alliance warlocks are well aware of it too.
In a 1v1, chances are they'll stay just out of range, send the succubus in to seduce and force an early activation. Once that happens, or if it's on CD, it's a fair fight.

If you get stunlocked to death as a lock then you are absolutely shit and should reroll. A warlock should never die from being stunlocked

ya. during the infancy of multiboxing we were still trying to figure out the best multi-class to play. i went warlock cause i liked the class. 3x soulstone, 3x sacrifice, 3x deathcoil, 3x shadowburn was fun, but over time its become more obvious that shaman are even more lulsy than that: 3x chain lightning 3x shock, 3 ankh, TWELVE totems. lol

Dropping 5 fire Nova/magma totems with 5 earthbinds sounds pretty strong when you combine that with chain lightning.

multibox ain't against the ToS, it's only against the ToS if you automate their movement like using a bot or some script, it's perfectly fine as long as you are doing all the inputs yourself.

all fun and good but fact is games not designed for a 14k cap its made for 2.5k cap to 3.5k. So at TBC you would have a lot issues.

There are two types of people who are playing FFXIV. XIV trannies who would never leave, and normal people who respect that FFXIV is better then modern WoW, but want to give Classic a try.

This is classic not TBC.
The real Blizzard loved giving players choices over how to play the game with map editors and hosting your own games ect.
Why can't we have a server with NO bgs of any kind, a world pvp madhouse?
Why can't we have a server with a really high player cap?
Why can't Activision do anything other than the bare fucking minimum most convenient thing for them and their players?
Instead of giving us any choices other than pve or pvp we all have to put up with cross server and phasing bullshit that divides the community.

warlock, mage, priest - which will get boring the slowest? my friend is going paladin if that changes things

Mage. The other two are very braindead.

priest if you're willing to spend on respec, almost every priest ability is useful
warlock is straightforward, but it has a lot of micromanagement potential with pets, dots/curses/casts
Mage's only complexity comes in the form of stacking trinkets, if you're frost you use like 3 buttons and polymorph that's it
