I don't think anyone has ever disputed the fact that Paladins is a better game than Overwatch. Both of them are built around the same mechanics and core philosophies; while Overwatch excels in its tactical aspects and the sheer size of its roster, it has much less in the way of story focus; its focus on story is far less prominent than Overwatch's.
If you do buy Overwatch: it is an absolute beast indeed; and I'm not talking about just 'good' Overwatch, either, but just "solid." And yes, my opinion of Overwatch was heavily influenced by a game review given to me by another Reddit user, when I reviewed The Division at GDC on that very theme. He gave The Division an excellent score of 5 out of 10: it's an excellent game. That was while he was playing it and not an observer, a lot has been said about how good The Division looks in this context, a big part of it being the sheer amount of detail that was put into making it an interesting, complex, and interesting game. Overwatch? I'm still not sure how much better it would look if a player was playing it by themselves (in real-time combat), and how much better it looks when players can watch and react to other heroes to a greater degree.

Paladin used to have a system where you could combine different cosmetic items freely, so if you didn't like a look of some helmet you could replace it or take it odd or wear a winter hat instead, but then they decided the game was not like overwatch enough and aped the full-body skin suits that allow 0 customization because overwatch.

Its still more fun to play. There's little to no variety in Overwatch outside of game modes, and certain heroes are obsolete once newer ones come in. Paladins is unbalanced, don't get me wrong, but at least the cards system means there is more diversity to how a specific champion is played.

Overwatch still has only about 6-8 usable characters even after they tried to stop GOATS composition with their 2-2-2 limits.
