I'm not really sure that Melee will make it in Evo 2020. The spot for Melee will be a community choice so I don't really know who would win between Melee, Unist, Soul Calibur or another game.

I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but it's true. It was dropped at my locals after only two weeks. Peak during top 8 was 78k viewers which isnt that great for a game that is relatively fresh on the scene. I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm staying realistic.
Also season 2 doesn't mean shit. They're blowing all their DLC load early because they know the game will likely be forgotten next year. The game just came out, yet we are getting all of our season 1 content within the first 6 months. They're already announcing Season 2 with the first character out of desperation.

Have you played any tag fighter? FighterZ is filling that niche that isn't being done by any modern game. It's coming back, especially with how well top 8 went.
