When did you realized that hot wind blowing was the GOAT song?
What an ugly character design
He's just the memest.

Can you parry, Jack?
He's right though. Much better characters too
I got filtered by the sam dlc wolf fight. What did I miss
I used to ship Sam and Mistral.
For me, it's A Stranger I Remain, but Hot Wind Blowing is underrated
LIVE IN IGNORANCE
AND PURCHASE YOUR HAPPINESS
>a group of cybernetic ninja mercenaries called the Winds of Destruction, who happen to own a group of cybernetic soldiers called the Desperados, all of which are controlled by a senator who can blackface himself to become invincible
it was a neat concept, so were literally all of the Winds themselves
Mistral
>frenchie with a severe latex arm fetish who's main weapon was literally a chain of arms formed into a spear
Monsoon
>CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES but he actually did with fukken magnets just so the rival sword ninjas couldn't slash him
Sundowner
>probably the most disappointing gimmick and fight, but the exploding shield and machete scissors were still neat
Sam
>had no cybernetics whatsoever and stood toe to toe with Armstrong, after getting his robot arm he fucked up Raiden so bad he had to get a completely new body
Khamsin

>Collective Consciousness is wrong about what Armstrong believes
>It Has To Be This Way is from Raiden's point-of-view
>Armstrong is the only boss whose music don't represent his beliefs or character
What did they mean by this?

>raiden rips out armstrong's heart
>he falls backwards onto the ground in front of raiden
>the camera pans up, making it look like armstrong is raiden's shadow

The whole point is that you can't cut him, because like water the blade just carves through the enpty space it creates.

>somehow they are stuck in heads of thousands of people and succeed at being a banger
How?
AND IT WILL NOT LET UP UNTIL THE END IS HERE
soon
MGR is self aware, most of the songs are leitmotifs for edgy villains, and SOUL
monsoon, the tokyo hotel song
they themed them really well with the levels i think
it's the equivalent of catchy trash pop songs
and not counting the lyrics, the soundtrack on it's own is pretty good
and also SOUL
Posting this classic youtu.be
it's because they are edgy that they're memorable
it's so goofy and self aware that it becomes endearing
raiden doing his gravelly snake impression and going YOURE BATSHIT INSANE and then getting spun into the air is funny, unlike donte going FUCK YOU and flipping the bird while doing his epic smirk
No, he had magnetic powers.
wrong version
All of Desperados members had wind names
All the names have meaning. Monsoon has the power of not being able to be cut, like rain. Armstrong has strong arms. Sam is a samurai. Mistral is something. Sundowner smiles like a sun, but is a downer to homeless kids. Wolf is a dog
It's poetry
mistral[ mis-truhl, mi-strahl ]SHOW IPA
EXAMPLES|WORD ORIGINSEE MORE SYNONYMS FOR mistral ON THESAURUS.COM
noun
a cold, dry, northerly wind common in southern France and neighboring regions.
>she's dry
there goes the boner
well if she was cold and wet she'd be Monsoon
When I realized it summed up how I felt the post-9/11 American zeitgeist. And more importantly it sounds great.
>Sundowner has more aggressive phase & he actually uses his scissors if you cut down all his shields properly
>can just ignore shields and miss that phase
even if his boss fight is still easy, they should've made that phase mandatory past a certain hp threshold, he deserved a better fight
Holy fuck you're alive. Can't wait to see the final product my man.
Made a thread earlier but it was the last one for it. I'll wait a few days in case I'll get any leftover submissions (because some said they'll send in something this week) and start replaying the monsoon boss fight to capture footage for the video. The song itself is extremely close to completion, it's just missing a few final touches if there won't be any more submissions for it.
It rains during his fight.
RED SUN
RED SUN OVER PARADISE
RED SUN
WHEN THE WIND IS SLOW
AND THE FIRE'S HOT
THE VULTURE WAITS TO SEE WHAT ROTS
OH HOW PRETTY
ALL THE SCENERY
THIS IS NATURE’S SACRIFICE
WHEN THE AIR BLOWS THROUGH
>>Sundowner
>The Californian Wildfire
I still never understood this. Isn't he canonically from Alabama? Why is he called "Californian" and named after an out west phenomenon? He could have just BEEN from California instead. Did they really want him to have a vaguely southern accent or something?
He's not even trying at all. Story and character take a huge dump on that dumpster fire that was MGSV.
I've beat the game at least 6 times and I've never bothered doing it the right way because it's shit.
WITH A BRISK ATTACK
I've always loved the contradiction of how deranged Sundowner comes across from his lines, but the lyrics have this tranquil poetic quality.
THE REPTILE TAIL RIPPED FROM ITS BAC
WHEN THE SUN SETS
>doing it correctly makes the fight harder
the sundowner fight is one of the few problems with this game
like you either force an hp threshold OR the first phase must be waaaay harder to force you into triggering 2nd
youtu.be
If we're gonna go that way, there's no way or at least extremely unlikely Sam is from the region that wind blows in Brazil as well. They are just fun wind based nicknames from their countries.
It was until I went full anti consumism and paid attention to collective consciousness
>MGR was set in 2018
bros...
Its quite simple, they draw power from the weather they are in.
for example:
>Monsoon
One of the hardest bosses, fought during heavy rain.
>Sundowner
Invincible during the chase level, and moves faster than a speeding cyborg ninja, since the sun is shining bright.
During the storm, he had to get 2 helicopters to point spotlights on him so he can actually start a fight.
>Jetstream Sam
The Cool Brazillian wind.
Powerful as long as there is a strong movement of air.
On the train, the wind is moving through him fast, and so he is unbeatable.
In the desert, there is barely any wind, and its hot, so he gets killed.
and Mistral?
He's white (from the South) but also kinda indigenous looking. It fits.
Because every metal gear was his last one. If the faggot could focus and stop being a drama queen he could have ended up writing a better story. But no, he fell in love with big boss and the boss like every other npc. He IS a hack, there's a reason he got fired.
>Mistral
Notice the boss fight area, she engages Raiden in the outdoor area of the factory, and its Misty.
Since the area is currently covered in mist, she knows as long as she stays in the outdoors, she can beat Raiden, which is why the fight led up to the inside of the factory, and its in flames, which prevents the mists from forming in there.
Based on his song and how his life's gone I don't think he's happy, just making the best of the only option he has
Is Sam supposed to be the same guy from Vanquish?
wtf this makes sense
I got filtered by the Sam fight what did I miss?
Officially he's the Wind of Southeast Asia.
So he has one it just sucks.
At most it's a small nod to Vanquish. They're entirely different characters besides the name.
>there's people who never got to the second phase
Fucking how? Sundowner puts his shields up so frequently first phase and the game all but screams at you to just cut through them and move on.
I can't imagine fighting him and not cutting his shields.
Because it's way easier to just ignore them and keep slashing away at him.
Because you can just run behind him and stab him in the ass.
But it's annoying having him interrupt every five seconds by putting up his blast shields.
Just dodge or ninja run bro
Pushing him to second phase is quicker
Plus it lets me hear WHEN THE AIR BLOWS THROUGH WITH A BRISK ATTACK
>implying the devs even know what monsoon means
But OP, he does WASH AWAY THE ANGER
>Shows up right at the end of the game
>Is one of the most memorable characters in the series
>All from a damn spin off
How?
brazil is such a mixed country that Sam could be from literally anywhere, but considering he's a japanese descendant he's probably from the southwest (São Paulo)
Metal Gear was kind of up its own ass with 4 even if PW brought some of the silliness back.
Armstrong was peak MG being stupid unapologetic bullshit but being fun for doing so and it was great.
it was meant to make us think it was his point of view, which raiden and sam thought too until they and us got their shit kicked by his nanomachines and show his true colors
He just was.
That's an interesting thing about Monsoon, he seems to be a provoker while speaking to Raiden but both Armstrong and Sam, who show little patience with others, didn't seem as bothered by his presence or remarks. They seem to receive his comments with slight amusement.
This is especially curious for Sam since while with Sundowner in the beginning he clearly seemed bored by his talk of the benefits of War proliferation, having his back to him (he's guarding their escape for uninvited guest, but he could just as well sit with his right side to Sundowner and left to Raiden) and yawning.
Monsoon also remarks how Sam told him what Raiden said about his sword, meaning Sam bothered to relay something brief he heard solo to Monsoon.
It's possible of course he had told the others and they just didn't care, but still Monsoon remembered and brought it up.
Another small thing I noticed is Khamsin dies and Mistral mocks his death, Mistral apparently calls Armstrong after being defeated and he never brings her up again, Sundowner dies and Sam only calls to mock him, Sam dies and Armstrong's remark about him still being a pain suggests a rocky relation, but when Monsoon dies Sundowner is actually impressed that Raiden managed to do it, he has no sly comments about him. Granted like with Mistral neither Sam or Armstrong mention Monsoon again either, but he'd likely have preferred it that way.
Also, also another curious thing about Monsoon is he's the one person in the group who isn't seen involved in any criminal activity despite being a criminal originally. He doesn't attack any politicians like Sundowner and Sam, he doesn't get involved in any political hotspots like Khamsin, Mistral and Armstrong. Both in Sam and Raiden's story he's just guarding entry into the property.
I'm making note of these things not because they have any significance, but because of how curious a choice, intentional or otherwise, it seems given his character.
he's a metal gear character from wherever point you look, that was infused with platinum's batshit crazy over the topness, making him batshit insane in the process
WE WILL NOT FORGET
THE RED SUN OVER PARADISE!

He's a big lad, its basically vidya law
I DONT KNOW THE SEASON OR WHAT IS THE REASON IM STANDING HERE HOLDING MY BLAAAAADE
don't you mean time powers?
You fight him in the rain dipshit.
I wish I could say the same to MGS in general.
>Its quite simple, they draw power from the weather they are in.
did you make that shit up or was this actually stated in the game?
A DESOLATE PLACE
Not stated in game but god damn if he isn't convincing me, this is definitely something kojimbro would do
He chokes people, which a lot of snakes do to kill their prey
I forgot about this song/band. I'm glad I did, never speak of them again.
>v hates QTEs
>but likes MGR because it's japanese
POURING DOWN ON ME
that stuff just seemed like the normal "cutscene boss invulnerability" stuff
>No nanomachines, augmentations or anything
>Literally cut a fucking Metal Gear without any kind of augmentation whatsoever
Solid Snake was a mistake, they should have hired this guy to save the world instead.
I just don't think people hate QTEs as much as they say they do in general. Tons of games have 'em and still end up popular, even on Yea Forums, even if the QTEs are poorly used.
AND IT WILL NOT LET UP UNTIL THE END IS HERE
I still don't get the 'meme' he passed into Jack unawares.
Good. I fucking hate water powers.
I hate ice levels, I hate desert levels, I hate lazy themes.
Fuck you.
>Corrupt American politician
>Oddly not too far removed from an actual politician
>Great voice
>Just the right mix of absurd without overkilling it
>Fights like Solidus, only without shitty swords and Doc Ock arms.
>Probably one of the greatest final boss fights of that console generation
That last one isn't exactly a high bar to clear with how many final bosses last gen were ONLY QTE fests, if at all, but everything about that final fight was wonderfully executed.
Okay, maybe slicing the metal gear parts he throws at you sucked, but you can skip that phase
Monsoon's obsession is nature, he considers it an absolute force that can't be overcome.. He makes Raiden embrace his nature as a killer. It's pretty simple.
>Moonsoon
>Mistral
>Sundowner
>...Sam
Jetstream
Jetstream Sam Rodriguez. Minuano, The Cool Brazilian Wind.
Raiden was struggling with the concept of being a very good killer, and taking pleasure in it, when he was trying to just be a really good bodyguard for the innocent.
He felt conflicted about getting too indulgent in his fights (him chopping up humans isn't shown in cutscenes until after his revelation, before then it's left to the player how far they take it even with bosses), and Sam was trying to pull the weight of guilt down to further dissuade him giving how many more lives ahead he'd have to wade through to stop Armstrong.
But apparently Monsoon convinced him instead that he should just accept the nature of what he is and wants if he wants to be truly free of what's dragging him from accomplishing anything. So Raiden does but concludes preying on the weak doesn't mean the weak have to be the innocent or helpless, just any enemy too weak to stop him from chopping them into pieces when the feeling strikes him.
So we see him, making it canon, gleefully and very gracefully slice up the idiots around.
Hence he'd stopped feeling bad for people who were bad, despite their background or whatever they were a threat to others weaker and with less opportunity. If Raiden doesn't kill them without hesitation, they'll kill others without a hesitating. Monsoon's meme of seeing the nature of yourself and things, rather then how you'd like to imagine yourself and others found its receptor in Jack.
The doctor, the Desperado and World Marshal's drones, all got filed in Jack's mind under Armstrong's chattering meatshields no matter their circumstance or excuses.
Making Jack more efficient in his task by no longer hesitating to avoid or cut through them to get to his target.
Kids are cruel Jack..
And I touch child

IT’S ONLY THE COLD WIND I FEEL
Actually the mistral wind brings dry weather and is more likely to clear the mist away, the mistral is not a friend of the damp mist.

Monsoons are winds, not waters. They can cause flooding though.
DON'T NEED A MEDAL
It Has To Be This Way is from Armstrong's perspective, moron. The "I think we'll both agree" line? Armstrong tries to get Raiden to agree, Raiden sees him as a madman to be put down.
FOR ALL THE MEN WE KILL

Did you miss the RAIN, you blind retard?
Damn, that's deep.

How come everyone is an absolute unit in this game?
Armstrong is 6'6''.
Monsoon is 6'7''.
Sundowner is an absolute unit at 6'10''.
Even mommy Mistral is 6'5''.
Meanwhile Jack is a 5'10'' manlet.
The game was about a manlet's rage all along.
KIDS ARE CRUEL JACK

I think artificial bodies have something to do with it.

Haboob is a perfectly good wind name, why didn't anyone use that?
user, that's the middle and we sang the very end.
My favorite song in the OST.
Going full rock-opera was really inspired, especially compared to all the ambient OSTs
DIRTY AND FACELESS
FREEDOM IS CALLING

SHED
Because Kojima is a pretentious hack. MGRR was not trying to be deepderp, just being a videogame.
I don’t even remember where I got the info, but I could’ve sworn it was
>Raiden, 6’1
>Sam, 6’2
>Mistral, 6’3
>Armstrong, 6’5
>Sundowner, 6’6
>Monsoon, 6’7
Even if Armstrong was a madman, Raiden still understood his madness. Even if he disagreed with his methods, he himself still carved a path through life thanks to his strength and his own undying will - as well as some technological help.
The fact that Armstrong could be seen as crazy and that he might have been hypocritical did not change the fact that they both stood there, and fought to the bitter end for their own ideals. They were similar in this way.
Obviously they're similar, that's what the song is about. But Raiden doesn't acknowledge it as readily. Armstrong is the one who thinks hope can be born there, "beneath the bloodstained sand", Raiden is not there to start anything. Ignore for a moment that "carve" brings to mind Raiden's sword. Armstrong talks about his origins, how he made himself- carved his own path. Raiden followed his wrath, his MO in the game is punishing the strong and wicked. Armstrong may be more cruel, but I would argue Raiden is more wrathful- he's slaying monsters, Armstrong's cracking eggs.
DOING EVERYTHING I CAN
I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS GAME NEVER GOT A SEQUEL
WHAT A FUCKING TRAVESTY
Just remember that metal gear survive released and this absolute masterpiece didn't get a sequel
Wait wtf jet stream sam is meant to be a japanese BR?
Remember that time Sony tried to trick people into buying PS4s by teasing a non-existent sequel?
this
he's called snake because he crawls for the floor, iirc.
Yea Forums likes it for the memes, noticed how no one ITT talks about gameplay.
Because noone is spamming webms
REQUESTING SAM ELEVATOR TRIPLE
DIE YOU LITTLE SHIT
AWOOP
NEXT TIME DONT BRING A TOOL TO A SWORD FIGHT
I'm still seething, honestly
The fights feel visceral and satisfying. Cutting enemies to pieces before ripping out their cores almost gives you a boner. There's nothing to say about it because it's godlike. Pure unfiltered platinum games quality
they even had Khamsin in the DLC and Sam had the nickname Jetstream
The gameplay's fun, but what's to talk about? There's no builds to compare, no exploration for "Did you see-?", not really any alternate methods for bosses that I recall.
Lack of charecters in MG5 hurts so bad the only new character in the game really is fuckin skullface. Quite and codetalker barely do anything and hell neither does skullface. God I hated MGS5s story so much. I also would had killed for an actual indoors area. Im struggling to think of any indoors area bigger then like 2 rooms.
You have been visited by Laura the Riveter.
