K.Rool & Banjo were never "Irrelevant" to begin with. Geno on the other hand is a side character, from a side game, that was co-created by Square.

Can fuck off, this is what everyone rooting for K.Rool, Ridley and Banjo used as reasons why they should be in and they were constantly fucking shit on. Its only now that they finally made it in are the used as ammunition against Geno, and people trying to rewrite history as if everyone firmly knew that those three where going to be in ultimate from the start can fucking kill themselves. I dont think Geno is getting in, but stop trying to pretend as though the other never evers werent treated like shit for the same reasoning.

these are all arguments that were used feverishly by people against Banjo, K Rool and Ridley. There was never one time where mentioning one of these characters as one of your most wanted wasn’t immediately met with this shit. i didn’t get shit on in ballot threads for posting ridley so that idiots like you can pretend he was a shoe-in. so leave the puppet people alone let them have their stupid fucking doll.

That doesn't change the fact that K. Rool and Ridley are reoccuring villains (like Bowser and Dedede) and Banjo & Kazooie are main protagonists (like most of the cast)

There's just not much of a precedent of a character like Geno being included. He's equivalent to characters like Ghirahim or Midna, who are, you know, assist trophies and not playable. Sheik is pretty much the only playable character in Smash that's sorta equivalent to these kind of characters, secondary characters with unique movesets that only appeared in one game, and it's Sheik. And she pretty much just got by due to being Zelda's alter ego in OOT and was included in Melee for the sake of her transformation gimmick.

my next proposal then is that characters like Skull Kid, Midna, Tingle or Vaati SHOULD be playable as anything is better than the abysmal playable representation of Zelda in smash as of right now and Zelda totally deserves it. But that’s a different can of worms. end of the day I don’t think Geno will ever get in, but the irrelevancy shit isn’t why.

Considering Mario has pretty much every recurring character including a generic mook, the main character argument is a bit weird to me. I don't really see a problem in adding a side oneoff character when the main guys are already there, especially one they know is requested by fans, even if it's only the hardcore ones.

I'll never understand preferring them to not even be in the game over being an AT

If a character isnt in the game at all, there's at least some distant hope for DLC
if a character is a fucking assist trophy, your hopes of becoming a DLC character is fucking gone

If by very soon you mean the fighter pass then not possible since it's only for series that haven't been in smash yet
