I think I'm only doing 7k dps as dancer. How do I play better? It's just 1 2 3 and dance on cooldown and I for whatever reason can't keep up what the fuck is wrong with me?

It's more a case of knowing your cooldowns
I don't know what to say, the job already is very simple and I don't know how I'm doing 9.5k~10k.
I guess you can pre-cast Standard Step before pull and use Standard Finish as soon as timer goes down followed by Technical Step, once you finish it pop your cooldowns for that sick dps on your partner. Make sure to use your Standard Step almost every single time it's up for that nice burst damage. Then from this point just follow basic rotation and wait for procs. Don't let your gauge go over 80, make sure to burn your fans when raid buffs line up(chain/trick attack) and make sure to never have 4 fans, always leave it at 3 at most.
Direct Hit >= Crit > Determination
Avoid skill speed like the plague if possible

Yeah...he was at the bottom of the list during most adds pulls but the run seemed okay enough.
He was averaging around 4-8k while I was doing 10-25k (depending on amount of enemies), I don't know much about BLM so I wasn't sure what he was doing wrong. I did see Fire IV going off a lot.

I guess that's fair enough I suppose. However, clearly quite a lot of the people higher than me are going in with better gear, I wish there was a way to view how I did versus them with our gear removed from the equation.

If your new the fight, BLM can be one of the hardest classes to play, and if you buy anything, start with food first. Just keep making efforts to improve and you'll be fine, you don't need a 90+ parse to clear anything.

Upgrading just one slot of equipment by 10 ilvls is a dps increase of 300-400 dps, give or take. So just upgrading a 440 piece to 450 grants you 400 extra dps

Overmelding the crafted gear is an increase of 50~ dps for a dps class

Do the sidequest in Vesper Bay to unlock glamours in the first place, have the item whose appearance you want in your inventory and glamour it onto another piece of equipment manually, or (the most convenient and economical option) go to the dresser and put the equipment you want into the glamour dresser, then set up a glamour plate and apply it whenever you like in a major town.

mechanically it's one of the easiest jobs, but to get the most out of it you need good fight knowledge so you aren't constantly moving

I think it's because it's not a 1-2-3 rotation, and there's spells that you just stop using after a while (Blizz 1 and 2, Fire 2), and people try to fit them in when they're not useful anymore. There's also Flare, that's basically useless, or at least clunky for a long while. You also kind of have to relearn the class every dungeon at the end of HW, and then most every ability after that is just QoL. If they by that point don't understand how the job works, they get frustrated and just press buttons randomly.
Plus, tons of people just do not read their traits and never learn of something like Enhanced Umbral Heart. Then they're left with "Fire 2 doesn't do enough damage" and "Flare eats all my mana".
Basically people are pea brains and lazy.

Yeah, Scathe is for when you have no time to cast anything else. The rare times a situation only demands tap-damage it's good for as well because it's instant-cast, like the gaols from the mist dragon in The Burn at lv. 70.

Yes, but the point is of course to move as little as possible so you can cast real spells, it's when you really have to move for a while.

Flamethrower does 1100 potency over 10 seconds.
Within that same time, if you were to instead use hypercharge and shoot five Auto Crossbows and squeeze in one Spread Shot at the end, you'd have only hit for 1080 potency. And that required you to first generate 50 heat, while Flamethrower doesn't require any heat generation and only "costs" you the 20 heat you didn't generate because you weren't casting 10 seconds of Spread Shots.

Auto Crossbow/Spread Shot have the benefit of mobility but you don't have to dodge shit that often when you're just clearing trash pulls.

Primal. Due to work woes I didn't hit SHB endgame until a week after release. Since then I've spent about every other day in "learning parties" for around 2-4 hours trying to clear. I have cleared zero times. I've been in parties where we've hit 1-2% before enrage, and parties where after an hour of trying people are still mixing up north from south. People have already ran the calcs on this ages ago, you do not use fire III in your AoE rotation. You go straight from freeze to flare. Reason being that in the long run (>=3 cycles) the damage from those immediate flares outweighs the damage from casting fire 3 and going into astral fire. Stop spreading misinformation please, there are numerous resources that you can google which explain more in depth why this is the correct rotation, if you want to see how the numbers work out.

And probably a little bit of column A and column B, it's honestly not a hard fight mechanically but I remember doing my learning party woes and the biggest roadblock was the add phase. People just suddenly go dumb in the head cause of how much happens in such a small time frame. But keep at it user, Primal has some really bad and slow players on it but none compare to Crystal's at least which is a plus.

Because not only is BRD a more popular class in general, but MCH is absolutely flooded by bandwagoning first-time MCH/first-time ranged players. First time players less likely to be good enough to clear the harder fights, and more importantly are less likely to already have a group of skilled people lined up ready to kill E4S.

Basically for the story and leveling dungeons you can get a party of NPC with you
But when you finish the story the NPC get reset to lvl 71 and you have to level them up back to max level and even so you can still only do leveling dungeon.
Also they don't aoe at all, so even if only 1 DPS player aoe it would be faster than playing with the NPC

Almost all of these statics had a godlike NIN who switched over to something else because it went from 100% turnout for NIN in SB to 0 in ShB, so people are switching jobs.

We got to a point where Trick Attack is simply fucking useless since SE decided the only way for NIN to keep it would be to nerf the shit out of their damage, so NIN RDPS is fucking worthless and taking one into your party is actually a DPS loss compared to MNK or DRG.

MCH is above BRD at literally every single pecentile from 1 to 99, it's only at 100th does BRD instead become the one ahead by a hair.
Because NIN is undertuned as hell and every single other melee puts out way higher numbers, what part of this equation are you missing? The conversation was never "people don't switch jobs week 1" it was "people don't switch jobs week 1 unless theres a very good reason to do so" and 10+% higher rDPS is a VERY good reason.

MCH is super fun being able to move and cast. I've had quite a few situations where the tank dies and it's up to me (and sometimes healer) to kite enemies around and kill them

Yes, rDPS is whatever damage you're doing without any buffs plus however much DPS you're contributing to the group with your own buffs. For buffless classes like MCH/SAM/BLM, it's basically a "pure" personal dps tracker.

Forgot to add, that pic is "aDPS" which is basically closer to what you'd see on ACT. It's basically your personal damage plus buffs from others (excluding single target ones); it's no longer used as the default metric as it's liable to padding and doesn't properly display what buff classes bring to the table.

I got BLM to 60 and need the quest for Blizzard IV, the problem is I don't have any quests in the Thaumaturge Guild or at the Hourglass. Where do I start the quest for it?

MCH at least gets fucked over if they don't think about how their stuff aligns, especially when you consider downtime. Not too familiar with new BRD, but last I checked they can just sorta hit buttons on CD and not give a fuck.

Assuming the fight doesn't require heavy shields, yeah whm+diurnal is fine. E2S pretty much demands noct ast though, unless your party is absolutely on-point with mitigation.

With the same amount of gcds, I put out almost twice as much healing in diurnal, it's pretty depressing. A sch gets to throw extra broils, while a whm has to lose a lot of uptime to compensate. You can do more gcd healing yourself instead, but you'll probably find yourself running oom a lot, and the raid's dps will still suffer.

I do (did) too, ROG/NIN being introduced is pretty much the entire reason I started playing FFXIV. But after getting my Titania weapon at the start of the expansion I just...couldn't do it anymore.
