I think it's time for you to leave that house, guy.
NOTHING WRONG WITH ME
Is stealth decent in this game, or should I just stick to pure combat? I made a character with sneak as a primary skill, but sneaking doesn't seem to work very well. Is sneak just not very good until it's at a higher level?
Can anyone tell me why i get "you get no response" from every commoner npc?
I can't think of anything i've done wrong, it's a fresh character too, just did a quest for the court in Alikr and when i got back everyone in the whole region is like this
Stealth is fucky, i cant really come up with any other way to describe it, the dark brotherhood and thieves guild houses dont have markers on the map for example
Well, I just learned that Crouch and Sneak are two separate functions, so that may explain it
Don't bother with anything sneaky.
You have aids.
No, but what's your legal standing? And PER?
idk about stealth stealth, but magic stealth with true invisibility, true chameleon and few magic items improving stealth skill means pretty much no enemy will target you first
you can enchant bunch of same side effects like take damage from holy places to get free points easily
btw sphere of negation on strike one shots everything if you are high enough level, but yeah, at deadric + access to enchanter it is pretty much over, there is nothing in the game that can threaten you by that time
Main problem with sneak is that line of sight doesn't matter when it comes to detection in Daggerfall, and once a monster "sees" you they won't seem to lose you until you go so far they are unloaded. So to use sneak effectively you have to be sneaking slowly through the entire massive dungeons from start to finish.
Invisibility is actually really interesting though, because it has two versions: "True" and "Normal". True Invisibility doesn't break on combat like Normal does. Anything you attack will suddenly be able to see you but you'll remain undetected by everything else. There are exceptions however: all the high level undead and daedra bypass invisibility and will still detect you, so the tried and true "run to the sigil stone while invisible" strategy in Oblivion to take care of those pesky Oblivion gates won't work so well in most Daggerfall dungeons.
One final note that will be surprising if you're used to the later games: sneaking doesn't do anything for NPCs since they don't "detect" you: crime checks are all dice rolls based solely on your stats at the time of the crime. So don't waste your time trying to sneak or crouch in a shop or avoid the gaze of the merchant. Even if you're in a completely empty house, trying to open a locked door inside or looking through a box in a closet can still trigger guards to spawn, as if every door and container in Daggerfall is equipped with magic alarms. The one exception to this is store shelves, which you can never be caught stealing from as long as you do it after closing hours. A favorite tactic of thieves back in the day was to just wait in a shop until it closes and then reload the game to clean out the shelves.
Guards can't see you when you're invisible though, so if you cast invisibility before committing a crime, you can just walk away unscathed. As long as the guards never hit you, you aren't really "caught" so your reputation is undamaged.
My stealth is like 60 and not even a minor skill and my whole thing is I wear plate armor and run up to guys full speed and hit them with my sword. I don't really get it. It's one of my highest skills for some reason.
Literally any time you come within detection range of an enemy you make a stealth check.
Yeah it's weird, basically any time you're around an enemy you're training your stealth skill. Even if you aren't sneaking. Sneaking just applies a bonus to your chance to evade detection, but you still have a chance even if you're running at full speed.
I want to make one hit kill whit an axe or sword any advice?
Oh okay. Well I'll take the free backstabs then.
+ Immunity to fire
+ Spell absoption in darkness
+ Rapid healing in darkness
+ 3x spell points per INT
+ Expertise in long blade
+ Immunity to paralysis (race bonus)
- Unable to cast magic in daylight
- Forbidden weapons: axe, blunt weapon, missile weapon
- Forbidden materials: leather, silver
- Forbidden shields: buckler
> Unable to cast magic in daylight
How can you play without jumping like a retard in cities?
easiest way is backstabbing, it does triple damage of your normal strike, so just use invisibility and stealth and hit them unaware
without backstabbing your best bet is redguard character with deadric daikatana, expertise in longblade, bonus vs all enemies and enchant potent vs all and maybe some damaging spell on strike (that works) on daikatana
also sphere of negation on strike has chance to one hit kill, but needs very high level to have actually reasonable chance, so really end game or real grind
> also sphere of negation on strike has chance to one hit kill, but needs very high level to have actually reasonable chance, so really end game or real grind
Hand of Decay has a higher chance to insta-kill iirc.
immunity to paralysis is bugged, it does not work, you will still get paralyzed, so dont bother, use free action spell or item enchanted with free action when held
rapid healing doesnt matter, you will be waiting for mana anyway
spell absorbtion works only for your spells (might also work for enemies aoe spells, but not sure), definitely doesnt work as in vanilla df, take that into consideration
immunity to fire is, well, useless, and expensive
btw you can get easy free points by taking damage in holy places, forbidden steel, elven, adamantium and few others
>the exact same conversations about bethesda are repeating themselves right now
>the guy wants elder scrolls to be more like ultima when daggerfall was new. now people want elder scrolls to be more like daggerfall
time is a flat circle
I have a dwarven blade but have encountered many enemies where my weapon is ineffective. I have a plethora of gold, where can I find an effective weapon? Is it just silver?
How do i check my legal standing?
My per is at 40
Press I. This will also tell you if you're sick.
Can I use the item maker without being a mage?
I've read multiple times that you NEED to be able to cast spells to complete the game, which seems kind of a bummer
Can't make a pure melee
>immunity to paralysis is bugged, it does not work, you will still get paralyzed
Yeah, I kind of noticed this already. It's whatever.
>rapid healing doesnt matter, you will be waiting for mana anyway
We'll I'll have more health if I get interrupted while resting. I don't want to constantly have to save and reload. This way I won't have to use the healing spell as often.
>spell absorbtion works only for your spells
>immunity to fire is, well, useless, and expensive
1. get up in they face
2. spam reabsorbable fireballs
3. ????
4. profit
>forbidden steel, elven, adamantium and few others
Do I really want to forbid myself from using elven, adamantium and others? Are those the material types that matter? Like the mid to top range? Fuck iron, leather and silver but above that? I dunno mate...
>in the eyes of the law of alik'r desert you're a common citizen
>you are healthy
>we will eventually miss the days of Skyrim
maybe I should just kms
I think one of the temples provides it for members, but not sure about their skill requirements
didnt know that, its better to just use both for two rolls on instakill then
you either find it in dungeon or buy it in a shop
>decide to do mission for mage's guild
>oh yeah we need to teleport you into a dungeon so you can kill some dangerous assassins for us
>teleports me
>teleports me into the inside of a locked cage
fuckin' oops
>light armor in this game consists of leather and chainmail
Where is the rest of the light armor? Where's glass?
>hanging mode
made me laugh harder than it should
I had that happen in vanilla daggerfall once I managed my way out but I honestly don't remember.
>Yea Forums keeps memeing about this game
>finally decide to play it
>roll a knight
>kill a rat in tutorial
>"Mephit is immune to that weapon"
>game didn't give me any other weapon
>try punching it
>game over
Great game, lads.
I'd just try doing some more quests in that region, maybe join the knights
>average reflexes
>all those wasted points on personality
>immunity to fire when you already have spell absorption
>no critical weakness to disease or poison
Kek another one filtered
you dont, but it is much much easier, mostly qol way (teleport, healing, free action, fly, waterwalk - you can find magic items and potions for everything, but having it from the start is better)
only deadric matters desu btw you dont need immunity to fire to not be harmed by your fireballs when you have absorb
IMPED.COM
critical weakness to disease and poison can fuck you hard in early-mid game when you dont have potent cure spells yet, also it increases the chance of vampirism and lycantropy which are annoying, Id unironically rather take fire and cold
guess u should goback to playing skyrim pussy
Looks like the casual filter is working
>pick dark powered magi
>now I'm having a hard time doing easy town quest
Guess I'll have to avoid those ones
I'm changing the reflexes in my savefile; this value should be changed to "very high" right?
"reflexes": "Average",
Gothway garden, home
(Or it would be if the bankers would stop being jews and sell me a house already)
I actually agree with this and it's exactly why I prefer Morrowind over Daggerfall.
Daggerfall is terrible, don't fall for the nostalgia fags lies.
Goddamn street rat gave me the plague, and i'm not part of any temple
How can i cure me self?
Another one filtered to the imp
Kynareth is a free temple to provide healing without membership. Theres a temple in Gothway Garden, daggerfall province.
Reload lol
Just use recall to get out :^)
I arrived barely to an Arkay temple and got cured for 200 gold
That was scary, my stats were already 20
>this kills the zoomer
Your game is terrible, deal with it. It's fun for like 3-5 hours before you realize it's shallow as fuck.
NIGGA JUST WALK AWAY
What the fuck happened to people
Its "VeryHigh" apparently.
Which is best divine? Does it matter the answer at the character creation questions? I choose god of mercy but I forgot which one was that, can I be a master of all guilds like Oblivion?
Can't believe i'm having so much fun with this 20yo game
I don't play first person fantasy RPGs to walk away from monsters. I play them for exact fucking opposite actually. I'm sure I can run away from 90% of the shit in this game, that won't make it any more fun.
What do these faggots want????? Because the only thing I can logically conclude from their complaints is that they will only ever be truly satisfied when a TES game is basically a hyper-believable world simulation that produces living breathing fantasy societies that is populated with actual natural language processing NPC agents that have human imitating intelligence which enables them to seek out goals, build relationships with other NPCs, and concretely change the game world which at the same time is managed by a high powered advance AI planner that's able to dynamically produce events, story lines, and quests to directly engage the player with.
>hanging mode
Use the schock spell retard
The gameplay is great, the rpg elements like the variety of skills and items: great. But the rest of the game is hot garbage. Quests constantly break or lead you to the wrong destinations or people. Plus they all have fucking time limits for some reason so you can never complete all of them. Also quests are randomized and have objectives similar to Skyrim's "go to X dungeon and kill draugr". And finally dungeons have horrible layouts anyway.
In theory this could all be fixed with mods.
What backstory you got? I got the guy with wizard parents that gets a weird staff and saves people near the imperial city with it one
Just lure them to fight each other then, if you have a spell use that too, kill some other enemies and they might have silver weapons, there's multiple ways to deal with this.
But what is the big deal of having to run from a dangerous enemy every once in a while, why are you so hung up on having to kill every single enemy?
>all quests are timed
Yeah and they give you an unreasonably long time to complete them. I hope you're not running around collecting ten quests at once like some retard. I just got a quest where I have 52 fuckind days to finish it and it's a four day trip there and back.
Hey me too, enchantress mom and warlock dad
Times seem really inconsistent; I got a quest where I had to be a fucking tour guide to some faggots all over the region and only had a few days to complete it.
Knights don't have spells, retard.
I do feel you there, but I've yet to hit a quest where I'm like "Oh shit this gives me no time at a." However, I've never done the tour guide thing. I even completed two quests to clear two different dungeons with 12 days required, both across the province from one another.
Who /pimp/ here?
Fuck
At all*
the dungeons in this game as just so shit designed even the non random ones
spend 2 hours exploring it activating all sorts of levers and secret doors then finally give up and look up a guide
turns out literally none of the levers i activated mattered at all and i just had to pull one of the random hundreds of torches in the dungeon to open a secret path leading me to the objective within 60 seconds from the entrance
whats the point of exploring these dungeons if they are literally all 99.999% filler and if you know where to go you can get to the objective in 30 seconds through some cryptic bullshit
it's like they're tricking me into thinking i'm making actual progress when really i'm completely wasting my time
>not using a custom class
lmao
>I don't play role playing games to have to roleplay dangerous situations, I play them to win everything with no difficulty.
Wouldn't the medusa have been way cooler if you could defeat it like literally any other creature in mythology?
So THIS is what they mean when they say entitled gamer.
>it's like they're tricking me into thinking i'm making actual progress when really i'm completely wasting my time
I know right, why would anyone go hunting or garden when they can get food at the grocery store?
Wouldn't it have been even cooler if Perseus spawned right next to her and no mirror was around?
hurr durr
You know what he would have done? Run away.
The imp is literally there to teach a lesson: You're going to be running from things you can't kill, like fucking zombies.
Any guides on making your own lewd gifs for the game?
>running from the imp
only weaklings do that, shock that bitch
Can you open the red brick doors inside the dungeons?
Haven't managed to open one yet
Fist him down, fists are op
Not if Zeus told him it was a tutorial
They're weird, sometimes clicking them teleports you, sometimes they do jack shit
those either teleport you or do nothing
>have to wait a month per promotion
Man, that sucks dick. A week or two would be better IMO. I've done so much shit in a month that I often forget about climbing rank.
hows the itemization in the game? Does it use level scaling like Oblivion or is there unique loot like Morrowind (Daedra can only be found in some locations)?
I saw that the Unity remake/port entered Alpha very recently. How buggy is it right now?
Less than the original.
so uh, barenziah wont talk to me, any way to fix this? my reputation is good, its just that i cant interact with her
Where's a nigga sell his holy relics? No store will buy them that I've found. Have a holy dagger and tome.
Pawnshops buy them, but you get shit gold for them. So maybe theres a better place.
New player here, did I fuck up making this character? Primary skills are long blade, archery, critical strike.
>n*rd
Apparently pawn shops are the only place that buy them. However, in Daggerfall city theres a decent one I'll be making a trip to now.
Reworked the monster sight/detection system would be a cool mod or even a setting
This shit is turning into my go to ES game
Same man, it's fucking fun
nah, looks good
archery is pretty meh, except for role playing purposes
Becoming a wereboar or werewolf is the same thing? Stats wise i mean
You need Mithril or better to be able to hit the last tier of enemies in Daggerfall. It's the next tier up from Dwarven.
en.uesp.net
Mods you want to see implemented in the future
Damn, so the ebony dagger you can get from the beginning is op as shit
Just better and more animated sprites
>Conjuration
>Companions
>More light armor beside leather and chainmail (mithril chain? Glass?)
>Spears/Polearms
Everything higher than chain is basically treated as plate in this game. Though Ebony and Dwarven are lighter than the rest.
You can only join one temple choose wisely but guilds should be okay. Not much point in ranking up Fighter's Guild though.
You might have to do something to activate them. Not sure if they're always possible to activate.
Well you can rank up multiple times in one promotion so it isn't that bad.
>Temple of Julianos wants me to murder some guy for hoarding his knowledge and not sharing it with others
Fucking brutal.
>you can rank up multiple times in one promotion
I thought it was one per month. Thank god.
>the ebony dagger you can get from the beginning is op as shit
Yeah that hit mod is what really makes it shine because early on your stats and skills are so shit it's fucking hard to hit anything.
Low-fi 3d model replacement for all the sprites including characters. Like PS1/PS2 tier graphics. That handpainted 3d replacement mod looks like shit.
Looks like bacon is on the menu for whatever lives in this dungeon
Posting this again because it seems like people are still constantly complaining about bugs that I haven't had happen to me and I think it's because they didn't install the unofficial fixes with DaggerfallSetup.
What's up with old games and time limits?
>an entire fucking month to go to one inn that takes at best 3 days travel
Damn dude you're screwed
you need levitate to complete morrowind
>Low-fi 3d model replacement for all the sprites including characters. Like PS1/PS2 tier graphics. That handpainted 3d replacement mod looks like shit.
What he said
It helps to give the overworld and it's size relevance.
what mod is that draw distance.
Best aestetic province? Been walking across the daggerfall (nation) provinces and honestly they're all the same wintery shit
How goddamn long does paralyze last for?
>fight scorpion
>kiting tail fine
>lands one hit on me, paralyzed
>using entire magika bar heal his damage as I sit there helpless
>finally snap out after what seems like sixty seconds, with barely enough HP to kite and kill it
Fuck me time to get a free action spell
Not the same as being able to cast spells. Items do that for you in Morrowind.
Items help you levitate in Daggerfall, nerd
WIth an actual decent render distance and the better sky mod I can finally enjoy this game. Now I'll be able to play a megacampaign Daggerfall-Skyrim where I'm playing the descendant of the previous games character.
I like Dragontail Mountains.
Sorry to bother, but what setting did you use?
>Daggerfall-Skyrim
Holy based, guess i'm doing the same since i never played morrowind
Does the mod that removes or replaces giant spiders with other things work in this?
Setting?
I just installed the latest
speaking of which is paralysis way more common in unity or something
i played the original and i don't remember ever getting paralysis this fucking often
i barely remember getting it at all
Do the spiders spoop you?
Idk it does this weird thing for me where it just cuts off into a blue void instead of having that unpopulated landscape.
Maybe our luck stat just sucks
Nvm, was using mountains and hills, that was causing issues.
Oh yeah, you have to choose one
Additionally, what the fuck was the point of mountains and hills, those bitchshit hills are ten times smaller than the landscape i got from distant terrain.
Yeah, not to the point of panic, but I find them extremely unpleasant in vidya and irl both although I can deal with them, I'd just rather not unless I absolutely have to.
They are pretty goddamb gross in this game
Damn you're right, been playing with Mountains and Hills all this time. Its shit compared to distant terrain.
What are some mods
NIGGA YOU DA KING
>can't find where to progress in the dungeon
>constantly hear rats and doors opening
He doesn't people to know he subscribes to khajiit porn
Yeah that's the funny thing about the way that works: it teleports you to a quest location inside that dungeon. This seems foolproof at first glance since quest locations were all selected by hand to be in reasonable locations, but they were placed where they were by designers mainly expecting quest items and enemies to spawn in them, not for the player himself to suddenly appear there. So sometimes they're inside cages, because hey why not it's kind of interesting when the guy you need to kill or talk to or item you need to collect is in a conspicuous location like that. Then some quest designer doesn't account for it and then this happens.
As a result that specific scenario can happen more than you'd expect. I had it happen a few times with a mages guild quest in the original game and twice with a merchant quest. Always good to set a recall point beforehand, but if you didn't then with enough jump/crouch/climb jiggling you can eventually clip out of the top of the cage. May or may not still be possible in DFU since the physics are a little different, but console commands can take care of that.
Considering that he said he made "half the levels" for Daggerfall you might unironically be able to personally blame Todd for that.

Kind of a cool dungeon here
Whatever's happening, it's not a one time only thing
Arena remake when
>blocks your path
Are you using the Villager Immersion Mod? I think it has something to do with it's priority, it needs to be higher. And by higher it means lower on the list, for some reason.
>arrows say they weigh something but dont affect weight
I think it might be bugged. Immunity certainly doesn't seem to work but also it feels like I get paralyzed instantly whenever I encounter a monster that can paralyze.
thats what i want tho
>David Bowie intensifies
Yeah those three things at the top are a bridge, there's a lever on the side you can pull to make the middle one move in place and connect the two sides on the upper level.
this game is a lot more fun than I gave it credit for. thanks for the req Yea Forums
I've resisted spell effects before but it's fucking rough
I carry 30 potions of Free Action around
well, immunity is working for me
not a single spider has paralyzed me, no matter how many times they cast it
thank you I was hoping someone would post this
Is there any reason to ever do those braindead fedex quests except for money?
ok somebody send help
streamable.com
Yeah, the remake site tells people to use the default, and default has no fixes.
the random chimp noises always crack me up
The monetary rewards for quests are always shit compared to what you get in dungeons, the real reason you quest is for the reputation. In that respect fedex quests are much more efficient at building rep than dungeon crawls since you'll get the same amount of rep whether it's a quest thatakes 5 minutes or 5 hours.
Wait I thought the unity remake fixed everything
Apparently there is one

Party Members:
- Permanent allies as quest rewards for saving another adventurer's life, a recurring quest giver from a guild that decides to join you, or someone from a tavern who was bored of working/being alone on their adventures.
- Semi-permanent guides, escorts and guild mercenaries who are assigned to help you on quests or locating hidden map locations.
- Temporary hires from taverns or guilds that the player can purchase for a number of days for a fee, to temporarilly help with something difficult.
And then some assocated party mechanics like negotiating equipment/loot distribution, or risk factors, and involve the language skills for them.
> Talk to a temporary hire poorly enough and they'll leave the party.
> And possibly steal some things from your common/shared item pool when they do.
kek!
How to get exit hanging mode to get on roofs?
So guilds have no story line right? Just radiant quests?
comfy
How does scaling work in this game if any?
And reputation is necessary for the main quest? Does the game eventually boil down to farming fedex quests like mount & blade?
ok so this dungeon is completely fucking bugged
teleported to all these disconnected areas i couldn't get to because there's no teleporters and each one of them just has a doorway that leads to the void
never seen this happen in vanilla
Whoever wrote about exploring dungeons per level deserves a medal, now it's much better
Chesterwark... Home...
Doing what now?
Mara and Stendarr seem like the only worthy temples going for their special effect
Dungeons are separated by height levels (level you are is clear on the map, the other levels are transparent), so corridors that go up or do usually take you to another level
So just explore your current level until you have no choice but to go up or down
Well in that case by "reputation" I mean reputation with whoever you're doing quests for. Every faction tracks reputation individually and it ranges from -100 to 100. Think like Disposition from Morrowind/Oblivion but applied to factions instead of to individual characters. Not to be confused with the "reputation" you see on your character sheet in Morrowind or "fame" in Oblivion, which are single values that apply globally.
The main quest characters have their own reputations of you as well and those can be relevant in the main quest, but you don't need to grind them. Unless you fuck things up big time somehow the main quest already provides you with all the reputation you need with the appropriate factions to continue doing it. Ways to "fuck it up" could involve failing a main quest or lowering the reputation of a main quest character too much accidentally from side quests or waiting an extraordinarily long time between between main quests.
Reputations all slowly slide to 0 over long periods of time and every quest success and failure will not just affect your rep with the questgiver but also their allies and enemies. A lot of those allies and enemies are randomly rolled every so often so it's difficult to predict just how things will turn out, but it suffices to say that if you're doing the main quest at a reasonable pace it's extremely unlikely that you'll ever get in a situation where you need to somehow gain reputation with someone to advance.
Daggerfall's world is huge but static
A time-limit helps make it seem "alive"
I was thinking the same thing.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Daggerfall
How do Fations work in Daggerfall? can you just join them all, or do some lock you out of joining others?
Wow thanks a lot.
Bro she can't be any more clear
>Tfw coming back to kill that imp
There are 8 Knightly Orders and you can only join one
Same for Temples
Otherwise go ahead and be a thief-assassin-magician-fighter multiclass.
can health taken from vampiric touch on a weapon make up for health leech?
How do I climb onto the overhand wall?
I'm 99% certain my quest item is up there but I've been stuck here searching for hours
You levitate, or you don't. That looks like it might be an elevator shaft though, try poking those torches or anything else around to see if it brings a platform down.
How'd you get into that room? It's also possible there's a longer path up to that level.
Lycanthropy is the most op shit ever
>200k gold to summon hircine and get the rige
welp, off to raid dungeons
levitation spell but since you probably don't have it and that's why you asking there's probably a path that leads there
or just use cheats
What's the name and region of the dungeon by the way? I'm not playing anything at the moment and feel like crawling one and seeing if I can find the way up there.
I think I use this as home base now because of you. I was using Eastwick but it doesn't have a bank and eventually that became a problem. Chesterwark is nice, not too big and not too small, most of the shops are grouped together in a central location and the mages's and fighter's guilds are close together too. I like getting my shit repaired at the fighter's guild while I sleep there for 24 hours. The only real downside to the place is that it's landlocked.
None may know... what about that joker with the torch, huh? You gonna have him killed? Some benevolent ruler you are m8, I didn't vote for ya.
it's wicksly's guard but I thought each dungeon was supposed to be one of a kind?
You don't vote for an emperor!
Isn't that supposed to be Chancellor Ocato?
The dungeons are the same for everybody
I finally made a character who started with a high speed. Holy fuck I have been missing out this whole time
What are the rules when it comes to layers of cloth? I have to cloaks and one robe equipped over a full set of armor which is equipped over a khajit bodysuit and a vest. Can you just stack them indefinitely? Doesn't it get crazy with enchantments?
>want to wear good armor
>also want to star at my characters sexy lizard body whenever I open my inventory
This is quite the dilemma.
Yo dawg
>cast open on a magically locked door
>"ready to open"
>try to open it
>"lock is too powerful"
It's based on the casters level, so just opendoor with console like my scummy ass and then realize there's fucking nothing there
Wow there actually was nothing, just 3 levers that damaged me and one that activated an elevator to go to the room I was in a minute ago.
Absolute unit.
Truthfully, I've started opendoor commanding every locked door. I've bashed enough doors with my weapon that led to nothing.
Heh funny I just got sent to kill my first werewolf, what are the perks of being one after trying them in skyrim?
Not yet. DFU still uses the base game files for everything and since those unofficial fixes patch the base game files they also wok on Unity. I believe the goal is to have all of those fixes part of DFU though.
Your level affects the likelihood of seeing more dangerous enemies and higher tier items.
Pretty much all dungeon blocks have a bunch of floating rooms though. Not all of them are meant to be accessible every time. It depends on what the dungeon generates for you. Its only a bug if your quest item generates into a room thats inaccessible.
Dungeons aren't generated on the fly, Bethesda generated them once. We all have the same dungeons and they're exactly the same in Unity as they were in vanilla, since Unity is just reading them from the original game files.
I'm sure you've been through it by now but just in case, here's how to get to the top of that particular gap in from the bottom. It wasn't an elevator after all, just one of those hellholes of a dungeon block with tons of gaps and trap doors in a big maze.
Just in case anyone ever had trouble grasping exactly what people mean when they talk about "dungeon blocks" and what their extent is, you should know that everything in this webm is a part of one single block, and we didn't even explore half of it here. It's no exaggeration to say that each block is effectively a complete dungeon in and of itself. They're all premade and most Daggerfall dungeons are constructed by placing 2-5 of them next to each other and then populating certain marked locations with random enemies and loot.
Speedyboi
I had this before. It's the warrior or whatever because the game doesn't allow you to attack regular NPCs so they had to use one that you could attack for that quest. It's pretty funny and stupid how they handled it.
I also agree with him. I honestly don't think Bethesda has ever made a good game and Skyrim is the only playable TES.
Any recommended mods to use at the moment, or is it still too early on to do anything with them yet?
There's no warrior in the residence designated by the quest, only one single NPC which isn't the NPC in the quest. I've tried randomly cast sleep and it didn't work either. Just another shitty bug.
>Skyrim is the only playable TES
You can browse here - forums.dfworkshop.net
I like these two - distant terrain forums.dfworkshop.net
I haven't bothered with gameplay balance stuff yet
I've done about four of those quests without issue. You actually don't even need to cast the spell, just equip it.
I'd say enhanced sky is absolutely necessary. Something about the way the vanilla skybox shifts when you look around is nauseating
>tfw sneaky op actually works and for hours didn't even know their was a new Daggerfall thread
I hate that neither of those mods work with retro low res rendering mode for whatever reason.
>not just using search
Nigga you can search in the catalog
noo dont die stealth thread too stealth
But they're much more comfy
why hasn't anyone made an HD sky re-texture yet
I like the sky but not the mountains. Also it spinning around with you is kinda weird and vomit inducing.
There's the Enchanced Sky mod but it's too HD. I'd prefer a proper skybox in the lowres style like the original but without the fixed mountains.
They need to do the sky like this, it looks pretty good here, it meshes better with the overall graphics
Your physical stats and skills are jacked up to ridiculous levels, even outside of werewolf form. It's stupidly powerful. The only downside is having to kill a peasant every other week or your health will drop to single digits, and being unable to loot stuff while in werewolf form and both of those disadvantages can still be negated with a specific artifact.
I made a wizard and I feel like I got fucked. I'm lvl 2, I have like 90 int, the X3 int magicka advantage and killing stuff with spells is completely unviable compared to spamming my obsidian dagger while wearing heavy armor.
What's the point.
That's odd, I have an easier time one shooting things with spells than swords
Magic is overpowered as hell. With high destruction, regular fireballs and spell absorption you can kill an ancient lich in a second.
Do you rest every couple of fight or something?
I have 25 magicka and feel the pain of trying to kill skeletons with sharp weapons. Mage is a good build.
it's a boomer game user, if you dont have nostalgia goggles it isnt worth your time. hide these threads.
So DFU doesn't have fixes. So if I reinstall daggerfall and apply the fixes will it corrupt my save file?
Doesn't everyone do that? Don't explore until all your bars are maxed
Have the DFU fixes done something about the chance for the Ebony Dagger, or am I just getting unlucky? I re-created a character from the original a couple of times that was offered the choice originally but never saw the question pop up. Is it just random and I'm getting unlucky? I read that it won't show up for certain builds that are too close to the pre-made characters but like I said it's been offered for the same build before
>go to that island to find kings side ho
>fucking lever puzzles out of the ass
>takes for-fucking-ever even with guide from wiki
>bitch better not send me to bring her another item
>sends me to bring her another item
cunt
Holy shit the game must be even more tedious for you. No I sure as fuck don't rest every couple of fight. Most enemies never hit you if just move back and forth.
Finally got out of the first dungeon, at the Mage's Guild currently. How do I go about spellcrafting, exactly? I see a lot of shit that I have no clue what it does.
roads
Is there a way to see a numerical value showing you how much magika you have? Useless blue bar tells me nothing, I have no idea what my max magika is, except knowing it's too low to cast anything.
Spellbook has the value in the top right
I got it instantly without having to do a single quest, but I made character that's loved by scholars by 4 points and hated by the underworld
Cheers m8.
I have the spellmaker, I'm just confused as to how it works exactly.
clicking on INT on your character sheet also tells you
The clouds look a bit too cartoony but the nightsky is great. I wish someone would make something similar for DFU.
This with the retro rendering mode is pure soul.
forums.dfworkshop.net
You could try this though the default settings are kinda stupid and overtuned.
Also make your own spells. Shock for example is garbage with a huge damage range.
I don't think the unofficial fixes that come with DaggerfallSetup corrupt your save but I'm not 100% on that. Maybe make a backup and try. You definitely want those unofficial fixes though. They fix stuff that isn't yet fixed by DFU.
Some others have complained about it in the threads and meanwhile I tried making a bunch of characters and I always get the question. I guess you could try reinstalling both Daggerfall and DFU?
Most of the stuff actually gives you a brief description of what it does if you add it from the list.
On the bottom right you can swap the element of your spell and how it targets. Note that targeted AoE spells can also hit you if you target them too close to you.
So, for anons playing this for the first time; how are you enjoy the dungeon sounds?
>find the mage's guild, first quest is to go to a stronghold 14 days away in order to retrieve Wraith Essence
>it's filled with werewolves
>the sounds of snarling are fucking EVERYWHERE
Regardless of my ass getting blasted, I'm having a lot of fun so far. Gonna reroll for a new guy since I can't continue with this one due to her running out of fatigue immediately from poison.
why not just unga bunga the door open with your sword? I've never had a door I couldn't eventually bash open.
what the fuck is wrong with those fonts
the buff icons look stupid
Of course they do. They're the vanilla icons.
There's some very rare doors you can't bash open because they're magically sealed.
why hasnt he made them transparent or put a border around them or somethinf
ah, that's how they get ya.
I'm guessing that this kind of "fluff" feature will be implemented in the alpha. Up until now his main objective was to implement all the features from vanilla.
This guy is right. Dungeons in Daggerfall are the most boring, mundane, tedious and bland areas possible. It's just long empty corridors with occasional copy-paste rooms that have nothing inside. I can't wait for someone to mod the shit out of it and add more variety.
Yes, Julianos temple, very handy for non-mages.
Enable the smaller dungeons feature in the ini.
>There are people who don't enjoy the dungeon spelunking
Why are you playing? It's literally the entire game.
>not using Daedra Lord for +8k Enchantment Points
weak
Can somebody explain to me what the fuck was going on with the torch in that intro?
I made a new character after I had learned the basics and how to not fuck up making the character. Turned on smaller dungeons and I've been having a blast. They're just long enough that I often spend exploring the rest of the dungeon even if I find the quest objective early. In comparison with the setting turned off I was usually so tired by the time I found the quest object that I just turned in the quest, saved the game and quit.
it's easier to find an ancient lich, just go the Mannimarco's crib.
are there any mods for this that untangle all of the clunk and not make it feel like you're piloting an airplane?
Did you turn off mouse smoothing? I haven't had any problems with the controls.
>get sent by Temple of Julianos to kill some guy
>have 8 days to do it
>use the quickest travel to get to the dungeon
>spend hours in the dungeon looking for the fucker
>6 days, as it turns out, of searching for my guy
>finally find him and kill him
>quest time expires on my ride back to town
God damnit give me my fucking 391 gold you Julianos kikes.
Are spellcasters any good in this game?
That first dungeon was fucking brutal. Will I eventually because a super cool wizard who melts people with magic or should I just reroll as a warrior?
eheheh poop!!!
poopie!!!!
Yeah I can imagine people back in the day would have killed to have had a smaller dungeons mod.
Where are the save files stored? My save folders are empty.
Should I choose long blade or short blade (as a mage)?
Are the bugged skills fixed in the Unity port?
Am I fucked if I can't kill a single skele at lv2?
I don't mean the size, the large dungeons could be fine if they had anything interesting inside them. Not just empty boring corridors and same rooms without anything in them. Each dungeon looks like exact clone of another, just randomized layout. Those dungeon names are indicating they are some castles, ruins, places where some monsters live etc yet they all are so empty inside. Add monster lairs and monster stuff, furniture, statues, decorations, junk, random objects lying around, etc and it will look more interesting and lively. Currently it's just empty corridors/rooms with occasional torch and very rarely some table/chair. Gets really boring after 10th dungeon you do.
Not really. I found Daedra Lord few times at magic item seller and stole it because it costs 800k gold.
Magic and creating magic items is fucking OP. It's so fucking OP that I feel like a cheater after decking my character in fully custom magic items that literally turned me into a immortal god of murder. But it takes a lot of time and millions of gold to get there.
Saves are in
C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Daggerfall Workshop\Daggerfall Unity\Saves\
They are simple JSON files and very easy to edit if you want to cheat.
Long Blade is the best weapon in the game (Daedric Dai Katana) but chose whatever suits your character.
What bugged skills? Everything seems to be working so far.
Morrowind split the difference nicely.
>ask friend for a weapon choice and class name for my combat mage
>blunt weapon and "Crush Mage"
>start with the silver staff, kind of weak because of how fucking slow it is
>eventually progress through the privateer's hold
>find a fucking STEEL WARHAMMER
>3 - 18 damage, feels faster than the staff, and it feels like it hits more often
>mfw crushing grizzly bears and then pulling out the staff against boomer imps
I honestly didn't think I would have this much fun with a game again, thanks friends.
Is there a reroll tool/cheat?
The wiki says dodge is bugged and actually just decreases your chance to hit.
And this guy says paralysis immunity is bugged which would be a bummer.
Do daggers attack faster? Or are they only good because they have more consistent damage and weigh less?
Also will spell absorption not work if I have magic immunity?
Paralysis immunity is not bugged, I have it and never been paralyzed once. Dunno about dodging, probably tricky to test it in-game.
No, but you can edit your save game files in notepad as this guy said
UH OH.........STINKYY!!!!!
Clean it up Jannie
Dodge was fixed.
Not sure about paralysis.
Unsure about attack speed between weapon types. I think it's just based on your SPD stat. The benefit of short blades really is the early access to Ebony Dagger which is quite fucking OP for a long time.
I've seen people complain about spell absorption not working from enemy spells but working from your own AoE spells. I'd imagine magic immunity would disable absorption but I'd have to go digging in the code to be sure.
>Eternal Champion looks like a member of The Ascension in the Daggerfall FMV opening
>In Oblivion he's a High Elf
I don't get it
>peek through the source for fun at github
>stumble upon pic related
So turns out the racial bonuses listed on en.uesp.net
>fighter's guild in westhead moor gave me a quest to clear out giant rats in the fighter's guild itself
>there are no rats in the building, eve after re-entering it
Nani?
try loitering.
Oh, that worked.Thanks user.
Also from what I can tell AGI and LUC don't affect your to hit except for the part where they're compared against enemy's AGI and LUC. It seems that the AGI "+ to hit" modifier is never actually used.
Biggest modifiers to hit are your weapon skill and material modifier (+10 starting from Elven). If you're playing a battlemage/spellsword/nightblade type of character it might be beneficial to make buffs for AGI and LUC and similar debuffs for the enemy to make it easier to hit shit.
>tfw chose lockpicking as a major skill
>not speechcraft and mercantile
>Chose inability to regen magic and absorb magic
>have to stand in my own blasts to keep full magic
Is stealing from boxes and shit just a random chance if someone will notice it?Is stealing anything even worth it with low stealth and pickpocket?
I just want more dungeon blocks. Dungeon crawling is fun but they start repeating themselves pretty fast.
I did this.
My daggerfall character is the same person as my arena character, since that is how it was intended originally, with save transfers and all.
My Morrowind character is an unrelated Dunmer, my Oblivion character is nephew of my daggerfall character. Before he disappeared in the Shivering isles he sired a bastard with one of the blades, and my Skyrim character is a descendant from that bloodline.
My TES VI character will be unrelated redguard probably if it's in hammerfel.
Autism like this is nice.
You are inside of a fake heart of lorkhan. I'll let you guess yourself.
This is chad
Pretty sure it checks against your pickpocket skill but not sure if NPCs "witnessing" it have any effect.
Should be only a matter of time until dungeon mods start happening.
>Ey bro, mind checking my deadlifts bro so I don't lose any gains bro?
magic
This guy walks up and slaps your inn keep on the ass
What do you do?
Nothing as the inn keep is usually a fat(atleast pudgy) man.
What the fuck did you just say to me?
>tfw spawned with ebony dagger
>tfw i killed that bastard but it took most of my life
Well, it reminds me of those imps once you leave sewers in Oblivion.
>all these people bitching about dungeon sizs
I can understand with the original games map, that shit was retarded. But with unity? Nigga, it's ridiculously easy to traverse, even more so with a mark/recall item or spell. I can easily explore a whole dungeon, loot everything that's not nailed down, and leave in under 30 minutes.
Fuck gamers and fuck video games!
Does rejecting quests fuck with your reputation?I havent done anything evil and people keep calling me a bad person and refuse to talk or answer because of it, despite me never doing anything bad yet
Personality is like 40 too
Not to mention how come everyone is a rayycist against bretons in the damn breton continent
Make sure that the Villager Immersion mod has a higher load priority than Dream - Commoners. If the problem still persists just disable the Villager Immersion mod.
Kek
Not sure, honestly. I had to reject like 4 or 5 Mummy fetch quests in a row and didn't have any problems yet.
Based. Fuck Bethesda, they never made a single good game. Still true to this day.
Rejecting them upfront shouldn't reduce your reputation.
It probably has to do with your low personality. I'm at 55 and people still call me a disgusting breton.
Ah, I see Todd's personal touch in this dungeon
I prefer skyrim, but even I think that's one of the dumbest things said on Yea Forums
Why has no one tried to make a spiritual successor to Ultima VII?
Obviously EA owns the property, but given the resurgence of top-down WRPGs, surely someone would try copying Ultima instead of Baldur's Gate.
Some of the sound effects in this game sure are amazing!
Yea Forums is satire though.
Did you use the unofficial fixes in Daggerfall Setup before installing Unity?
Yep
Does Heavy armor have the same disadvantages of the other games? Does it make you slower and make stealth harder?
Armor weight has no effect on anything.
What do the resistances do exactly? Do they mitigate the dmg/effects of the afflictions, or do they increase the chance of failure against you?
Is this normal to be attacked by 2 rats and 2 bats while being in a city? (wasn't resting or anything, just walking around)
>Buggerfall
Was it night time?
The only downside to wearing heavy armor is reduced carrying capacity due to the added weight.
Yea, got me to kill a random faggot who walked into my sword from behind. Sucks.
Hopefully one day with mods someone can make NPC's and guards react to threats
The guards reacting to threats sounds like a decent idea. I will look into it.
That's not an idea, that's common sense
A decent idea for a DFUnity mod, you autist
You need to level destruction a lot, it lowers the magicka cost. Then you need to start hoarding potions of power somehow.
smaller dungeons is still like 20 min dungeons, which i find perfect
the default dungeons specially with some of the shitty music that is too short and too repetitive were making me insane
Thanks to this game I've finally understood the definition of old school soul.
maybe for you.
Has anyone successfully used the json dump feature?
boobs
HALT
I want to see adventurers roaming dungeons, and in the wilderness. Really really badly.
classic render doesn't work for me, do i need to turn off all the mods or something?
Yeah and if anything it seems that Bethesda is closer to that realization than anyone else since people can imagine it only through Bethesda games.
Yeah, which is why The Elder Scrolls is my favoirte game series.
Is smaller dungeons worth it? What does it change and has anyone had some issue with it?
i got insanely lucky and found a mace w/ sphere on negation on it, i'm using long blades unfortunately
the new dungeon map in this game is glorious,
it's so helpful now. It even shows you which teleporters in dungeons connect once you go through them. I don't recall that at all in the old one. Using the old one in general was like pulling teeth.
>unfortunately
You do realize muh katanah is the best weapon in the game, right?
>deals more damage AND is lighter than its counterpart
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
Raycastle, home.
i know, i saw the immunity and just ran off, i figured i needed silver or something, and sure enough...
I'm not sure about the technical details but it seems to limit or lower the amount of blocks dungeons generate with. With it dungeons seem to go from 3 hour slogs to like 20-40min adventures. Haven't had a single dungeon break using it, yet but it is probably not included in the settings menu for a reason.
are there monsters roaming the wilderness, or is it just empty? This looks super comfy.
It was before serious youtube HEMA weapon experts. Back then everyone thought that katanas were metal lightsabers with souls of great samurai warriors inside.
Effectively no. There is some random stuff, but it's so sparse it might as well not exist.
that's basically what i took and i'm kicking ass
Love you bro. Me too.
As the modding community becomes larger hopefully the world becomes more of a living entity outside of cities and dungeons.
Not currently, but warm ashes(the mod) apparently adds some encounters to the wilderness. Although we're gonna have to wait a bit for a mod that truly populates the wilderness, maybe even spawns in some herds and whatnot.
>travelling at night
>skeletons rise from the ground like OoT
3D trees/animals+Bigger/taller tree models+populated wilderness+ Better sky+distant lands=Either a melted computer or peak comfcore.
>a melted computer
Just needs some thought put into it in terms of optimization and it'll be fine.
how the fuck do people even travel to other cities in the high rock if they have no fucking roads
I really hope a mod that connects all locations through roads comes out soon because it's immersion breaking as fuck
They too use fast travel exclusively.
I read that armor weight effects stealth. How much does it effect? Will wearing steel armor make me unable to sneak with any effectiveness? Does weapon weight also factor into it?
I am hated in the eyes of the law, should I GTFO of daggerfall until my reputation gets better?
I cannot enter any town without an army of guards wanting to arrest me
just go to court and convince them it couldn't have been you
Would a mod that shrinks the entire landmass to make manual travel worth it be possible?
Damn that's some big view distance
I'm using the distant terrain mod but even i can't see that far
I did they beat me up, banished me from the city and made sleep outside while spiders /bears /nightblades attacked me all night
In theory yes but in practice I think it would be a massive undertaking.
why has no one modded the horse's head yet?
Warm ashes actually livens up the wilderness quite a bit, although it has bugged out for me and would trigger in dungeons which was fucking awful.
Are you using the mountains and hills mod too? It bugs it out.
ever heard of SOUL,zoomie?
elderscrolls.fandom.com
It says here
> If other hostile enemies, such as giant bats, come in range, they will attempt to kill them.
But I (and other anons here) have experienced otherwise. Is this just untrue, or a bug in the Unity version?
There's a mod that autowalks you to places and speeds the game up instead.
I've done about 5 to 10 dungeons with it enabled and had no issues.
after I do my practice on this duke nukem guild Im making I want to do custom mounts like senche and guar
That mod just feels like a glorified loading screen imo. With a smaller landmass, the game could also be filled with unique modded locations and encounters that you could find naturally.
>this duke nukem guild Im making
never thought i'd read those words in that order. is it duke as the guild master, surrounded by strippers?
Who do you think all those other spellblades, archers and knights you kill in dungeons are?
That sounds fucking glorious.
Maybe it's a bug. I can confirm I've been chased into town by spiders and giants and everyone walks around not giving a fuck.
Well if it's a bug I guess there's no point making a mod to make the guards respond, since the DFUnity guy should really be the one doing it.
>senche and guar
You think it might be possible to add new weapon types to the game, or is that unnecessary?
This landscape really lack croplands. Looks very unrealistic.
yea. Ive been posting my edits here and there
I have most of the sprites and textures done. Just need to pick through that archeologist mod some more to figure out a little more on designating new npcs and all that.
im pretty sure. There is a feature to dump code then just copy paste and modify as needed and throw it in the appropriate folder.
Im still reading into it though.
Maybe that works like that if you enable enemy infighting. But that also makes monsters in dungeons kill each other so you may pretty much enter a room full of dead bodies when exploring a dungeon.
You lose the thrill of finally spotting your quest objective after fighting your way through a dungeon. You never know if you'll find it 10 minutes in or 1 hour, making the dungeon smaller kinda kills that uncertainty.
Well I've had enemy infighting happen, but not guards responding to hostiles. So as the other user said, this must be a bug.
Elder Scrolls wikis (including UESP) often have people reporting things they "remember" as facts. They don't actually test these things out, they just think back to their experiences 10 years ago, think "oh yeah, I remember something like this happening..." and state it as truth. Even if they remembered incorrectly.
Often they'll also try to "guess" things they don't know because it just seems logical to them. "I wonder what happens if guards see you attacked by a monster? Well, in the other games, they attack the monster, that's probably what they do here, it makes sense." And it seems logical and sensible so they put it without testing it. But it turns out it's completely wrong. But nobody ever tests it, so people spread it around the internet like it's just truth, and eventually everyone believes it.
I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.
Finally I'm at the last dungeon in Arena, wish me luck! I'm going to join Daggerfall chads soon.
It's strange how abundant daedric weapons and armor become but weird how rare silver armor is
>PER 100
SLUT
based xzar quoter
I had tons of silver stuff available in shops on lower levels. But I've NEVER EVER seen a single piece of Orcish armor.
She's so slutty that when selling I'm sometimes able to get more gold than the item is worth from merchant.
Good luck, never got into arena myself due to the shitty render distance.
I tested spell absorption for science and so anons dont waste points for it or base their build believing it works like in vanilla df (it doesnt).
>absorb spells custom class talent absorbs only your own aoe spells
>absorb spells enchant on items sometimes absorbs enemy aoe spells
>spell absorption spell seems like it absorbs even non aoe spells, but not reliably even though I made 100%+ chance spell in spellmaker
tldr do not base your build on absorbing enemy spells to fill your mana pool like you used to in vanilla df, remember every ancient lich or vampire boosting your mana to full? i do, not happening in dfu, expect maybe 30 mana from ancient lich if you are lucky and using spell absorption enchant or spell (not custom class talent)
take spell absorption talent if you like to play destruction based mage who shoots fireballs in the face of enemies all the time, you can refill your mana with some magic item that shoots ice storm, fireball or sth
for hybrids that use mostly long blade and use magic as support Im not sure it is worth it
I have Orcish greaves and a left pauldron. Silver gauntlets and greaves is the only silver armor I have and have seen. The weapons for the two are everywhere though.
>play DFU in windowed on my laptop
>strolling around Castle Daggerfall
>laptop shuts down
>it's overheated
>have to wait 10 minutes before turning it back on
>a 1996 game is putting my laptop down for the count
inb4 "well ackshually it's running on Unity"
so was Daggerfall messed up or did Daggerfall Unity mess it up?
is Unity just really bad? I've noticed a lot of Unity games are horrible performing.
Yes i am. Guess i'll have to disable it
View Distance mod has a better option anyway.
The general issue with freely available engines is that they come unoptimized to make them easier to use, so you're expected to make your own optimizations at the end. Most people just don't, or in the case of a game still being developed like DFU, it just hasn't happened yet.
It's not optimized for a particular game or genre out of the box, so most people don't bother with making their games run good on it.
in vanilla daggerfall it was definitely working as intended as there is even a premade class that depends on absorbing mana from enemies (cannot regen mana) - sorceror
>lower cycles
>music glitches out, game becomes sluggish
>raise cycles
>NPC's walk like they're on crack
Still can't decide if it's because it's a Bethesda game and it ran like ass on computers of the day, or because it's DOSBox.
No its just lazy/incompetent developers.
Before I make this spell, is regenerate a shit spell effect? I'm making a spell that at most should regen 35 health per round for 7 or 12 rounds. It's really cheap for both gold cost and spell point cost, but I don't know if there's something wrong with the effect or not.
What faction gives the best dungeon quests?
thats how games back then were, game speed was tied to cpu speed
it does what it says, do you need it? my personal experience is that when I needed healing it was burst healing and not slow regen, but your needs might be different
>no DFU mod for Arena's plot and worldsize, but Daggerfall's gameplay and big titties
Feels bad.
My current max health is probably 60, so I have a chance per round to regen half my health. I just didn't know if it was a good idea or not since it seems too good of a thing for 344 gold cost and 67 spell cost.
Good Luck, I tried to get into Arena myself but I got filtered by the shitty controls and low fps.
Also that slow-ass fade effect everytime you opened a menu or talked to someone was irritating.
You can USE Retro mode with the Handpainted models user
Do you lose rep with guilds over time? I just noticed my rep with thieves guild is lower than before.
You're going to think I am trolling you but I promise I am not, I may actually just be retarded please hear me out;
I cannot progress through the introductory tutorial, I kill the rat just barely and then the bat kills me.
My attacks are having probably a 10% hit rate against the rat and I have never successfully hit the bat. I swing at them but it doesn't count as a hit.
Please help me, what am I doing wrong?
I am in no way attacking the game, I must be doing something wrong and I am asking for an explanation of that.
Thank you.
HELLO MORTAL, why are you hero types always lost in the sea of adventure?
>no Arena Unity yet
So if you're having problems with hit rate, it might be due to your stats or skills. From what I noticed in the character creation, I believe AGL actually effects your hit rate, so having a low number in that stat might be fucking you over. On the other hand, what weapon proficiency did you pick? If you picked something like axes or blunt weapons, you start with the iron longsword regardless, which is obviously a long blade. Using a weapon you're not proficient with will fuck you over bad.
Your class is probably shitty and you didn't take ebony dagger from background questions. Ebony Dagger helps a lot in completing starting dungeon.
Fucked up your char gen probably.
post sheet
Are you standing still while fighting or are you trying to juke the enemy into attacking by getting in and out of it's range?
post your character
don't pick the prefab classes, instead choose to make a custom one
tesguides.com
I prefer the look of the game without retro mode though, but I think the handpainted models are a bit too detailed for Daggerfall.
If you install Tedious Travel there are
Highly recommended btw. Max comfy to sit back, drink some tea and watch your horse gallop through miles of wilderness.
Hopefuly when it's all complete it blends in better
Thanks for the (You)s.
That last dungeon was actually pretty easy, apart from last rooms lich hell. Even a single lich could fuck me up and there were loads of them. I didn't even feel bad for unsheathing my trusty Dagger of Passwall, I wasn't doing that shit. Passwall is a fun spell that destroys walls, meaning you can dig through dungeons. I just dug my way to the last hallway. No regrets, the game gave me the tools to beat it and I used them. I am the Shovel(Dagger) Knight.
I admit, it was pretty rough getting used the game. The old graphics, short draw distance, slow menus and how hard the tutorial dungeon was made it tough. But after playing it for a while I actually got into the game and started even enjoying it. I'm not probably gonna play it again, but for a single playthrough it was fun.
What happens if you go across the sea? Is there a ship transition?
Same, I tried Daggerfall now when the Unity port came out last week and had fun for a couple of hours before I realized that most of these vast lands are just dead with nothing in them, the NPCs are many but they are all boring, the dungeons as well. While Morrowind lacks several nice features Daggerfall had like werewolves, horses etc the world is so much better and enjoyable to explore. I ended up reinstalling Morrowind again after trying Daggerfall.
Hmm, I've never tried actually. Have a look at the mod page.
Games that don't allow to become an immortal god of murder with enough effort invested are SHIT SHIT SHIT
AND FUCK BALANCE, CHEESE IS DELICIOUS
That excuse has more holes than this fine slice of Gorgombert!
Why aren't more games using live-action cutscenes ?
If all games would use them it would suck ass sure, but aside from Cocks&Cunts no game is using them.
Orsimer race
>nexusmods.com
Back in 90's every fucking game had them. There were even adventure games with everything recorded with actors and stuff. Or on-rails western shooters with everything recorded with real actors.
>all stats at 100
>all primary and major skills enhanced to 300+
>run so fast that I can traverse entire city in few seconds
>jump higher than tallest buildings
>one swing of enchanted weapon releases spells and drains enemy's health and usually instakills them
>can be attacked by anything and not get hit once
>resist or reflect all spells cast at me
>can fly at will
Feels good. They should make temples dedicated to worshiping me.
Just tested spell reflection spell, it reflects spells back to caster, you dont get damaged, but can get paralyzed (along with caster, in my case mostly ancient liches). Sometimes they kill themself.
Also tested spell resistance spell, it can make you completely immune to all spells. Including your own spells cast on your character.
most important thing for to hit is weapon quality, second most important thing is weapon skill, then there is a big gap after which comes agility and luck
I played the original, yes it's common.
I fought a dungeon full of werewolves and spiders, it pissed me off since I had to reload everytime I got paralyzed since the spider would slowly kill me no matter what
Does Immunity to Magic (class creator advantage) gives you immunity to paralysis also? What does immunity to magic do anyway?
You didnt have any spells/potions?
The wiki says the temple of the god of knowledge and the mage guilds are enemies. Will I lose reputation with both if I pick both?
Initially but you can work it back. Inter-faction reputation loss is pretty minor iirc
no and I think paralysis is broken, probably going around resistances because of some bug
example
>spell resistance makes you immune to every spell including your own, but you still get paralyzed by lichs paralyze spell
>spell reflection reflects silence back at deadroth and you dont get silenced, but while it reflects paralyze back to lich, you do get paralyzed
>not to mention that paralysis immunity flat out doesnt work
at current state you might as well take critical weakness to it and then spam free action
magic is pretty much every spell that isnt fire/cold/shock/poison based
oh btw spell reflection reflects your own spells at you, but Im not sure if it increases their duration
I just tried and I started running across the ocean.
I am doing a no fast travel.
It's empty as fuck, you may find an enemy once or twice but it's rare, it truly feels like traveling, miles and miles of nature and nothingness, the most exciting thing that happens is when the terrain changes or you find a little town or cool dungeon.
I played as a ranger, my axe and bow where my only weapons and I didn't get any potions because I was hanging around in small villages and its a long way to the big cities
The same way you do, they look at a map and start truckin m.youtube.com
There is a mod that does exactly that and it's coming soon.
I agree, no roads makes absolutely zero sense.
ahh well, hopefully they implement that in the future
would make a 10/10 mod
>don't save for an hour
>90% done with looting a dungeon
>open a door
>a fucking vampire jumps out and instakills me despite me being at full health
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
F9 to quick save my man
f9 nigga, f9
If you do quests for them both you'll gain rep for them both, just slower than if they weren't enemies.
So if faction A and B both consider each other enemies:
Doing a quest for faction A will give you +10 rep with A and -5 rep with B.
Doing a quest for faction B will give you +10 rep with B and -5 rep with A.
Net result: +5 rep with both for two quests.
However since you're talking about the School of Julianos here, you should know that temples are a weird exception compared to other factions because your reputation with the actual temple doesn't matter at all. Instead you gain reputation mainly with the god they worship directly when you do quests, and it is your reputation with that god that determines your max rank too.
So when you do a quest for The School of Julianos, you actually gain +10 rep with Julianos and then +5 rep with The School of Julianos by association, instead of the other way around.
"The School of Julianos" considers The Mages Guild an enemy, but "Julianos" does not. This means you won't lose any rep at all and there's nothing to worry about. You'll progress at the normal rate in both factions.
I assume that actually buying a boat will fix it, but I don't have enough money for that yet
in a scale of 1 to 10, how good is this game?
For me it's a 9
I guess it's the novelty of never having playing an old school rpg
Not him but very good to know
Reminder that if you ALT+F11 as soon as you start the game without moving, you can automatically skip Privateer's Hold. The hotkey for placing you where you last stood still just teleports you out of the dungeon if there is no previous point where you stood still.
F12 to quick load.
Awesome, thanks
It's an 8 for me
10/10 m8 you can buy yer own carts & horse along with a house!
although I'm not entirely sure how you go about buying a specific house in any town you want to like Mermont that has a seafaring vibe when the town doesn't have a bank?
Tyvm!
>town has 2 general stores and no inn
11/10
I'm a delivery guy IRL too
I'd say it's a solid 6 with the potential to get up to a 9 with mods.
>town only has 5 houses
>20+ NPC's can be found randomly walking around
