Marianne is OP as fuck though. Get her C+ sword so she gets Soulblade which scales with both her Mag and her Res and she'll one shot everything even with training weapons.

Plus her offensive spells are all crit focused so she's gonna go "MY BLOOD COMPELS ME" every fight. Plus she gets silent.

Marianne is the most underappreciated OP character in the game. She only isn't given as much love cause she's in the same house as Lysithea, a.k.a the most busted unit in the whole fucking series.

It has huge range, like at least 10 squares away before range boosts. Not only does it do massive single target damage but it also does a portion of that damage to every enemy adjacent to the main target.
Basically if the map requires you to kill a general to win or whatever you just send Dorothea out and meteor. If it doesn't ohko you dance and do it again for turn 1 victory.

Byleth's heart was ripped out by Rhea and replaced with a Sothis crest stone. That's why Sothis can speak to you. Rhea made it so that Byleth would eventually be subsumed entirely to revive Sothis.

Playing my first game as Golden Deer and so far i can't say there is a single character that is truly bad. I probably don't play as autistically as you do though, but so far i am enjoying everyone in this house.

I killed every single thing on the map except the final enemy boss. It still took me a few turns wailing away from different directions.

When should I be exploring? I usually explore the first chance I get in a month, but I’m never sure when I should explore again. Are there more quests each week?

exploring more than one a month is only useful if you're trying to train your byleth more with professors and recruiting.

No, once you finish the quests that's it for the month.
Build motivation so you can improve weapon ranks and promote sooner.

Only when there's special events(fishing if you need money, gardening for gifts and stat boost, food for affinity build up) once a month.
It's best to do paralog battles/seminars if nothing special is happening.

Explore every time or you'll miss out on professor rank. Professor rank unlocks all the good shit. Do the tournament, meal time as many times as possible, choir practice, gardening, etc. Basically anything that gives +professor rank is worth doing every time you explore.

What i do is i explore to raise enthusiasm, bonds and recruit. So just manage everything at that pace. Remember that exploring also unlocks new facilities.

You build motivation while exploring if you spam meal time in addition to other bonuses. Seminar is a waste of a day, so is rest. Battle and explore are the only two things you should ever do.

Definitely the first free day each month. Exploring is usually your best option for raising supports and gaining professor levels if you have enough ingredients on hand to eat with people, which also keeps motivation high. You also get free access to the counselor questions and the greenhouse when you explore. The only reason you shouldn't explore is if you need to battle to complete quests and paralogues or if you don't have enough food to get people motivated, in which case you should rest instead. Instructing with 50% motivation is still better than opting for a seminar.

Sigurd's base stats alone carry him until chapter 4 so even on 0% growths he's amazing.
And he still contributes into chapter 4 and beyond anyway.
He's amazing from start to finish, never has a weak moment or weak spot.
You don't have to do anything to make Sigurd good.
That's just one example of a unit more busted than Lysithea who isn't even the most busted unit in three houses, not even close.

If you're playing with a big army increasing maybe 1 useful skill to a handful of students at a time is very wasteful compared to the alternative.
All my units have S+ in their main skill end game and I've never touched seminar outside of the one time you're required to select it. Also every single one of my supports for every single character I have access to is maxed out just from spamming meal time, I've never had to give gifts. I also skip sending flowers on birthdays because it's a waste of money that could be spent on weapon repair materials.

Seteth, Felix, and Dorothea are three of the best non lord units off the top of my head.
Seteth was by far the best unit on my Church run outside of Byleth obviously. He's the best flier in the game in a game with many maps that can be trivialized by fliers. There's also a shield that negates bow bonus damage to fliers that you can get post time skip that makes him even more overpowered.

A B Supported student will likely want ~15 of the desired stat, and D+ in their skill
Ferdinand and Casper can only get to C support at the start so you will need C in Hvy armr/Brawling and 20? in the stats

A lot of other busted units in the franchise can provide both though.
Take Seth for example, he has amazing combat and he can be a good rescue bot because he's a paladin (and the same could be same for every busted mounted unit like Marcus, Titania, Vanessa, etc).
Or Robin, the undisputed best unit in FE13 has amazing offenses and can be a really good support bot or staff bot if he wants.
Those 2 are easily top 5, maybe even top 3, units in the entire franchise.

People have certain stats and weapon skill requirements for you to recruit them. This lowers the higher the support is, number of gifts and lost items you give them, etc. basically if you really want someone you’ll fucking get them even if you don’t raise bow. And magic is pretty strong, but that’s mostly because they removed ninja spam and every general having a 1-2 range weapon with wary fighter.

B supports also join you randomly while you are teaching your fucking class.

I had the same problem. Got a lucky crit with Claude and then followed up with Lysithea. Can't remember which spell, but one of them is super effective against him and did nearly 70 damage. As long as you kill him with that he won't counterattack and kill her.

I hated him until I recruited him and he ended up being a god in combat that puts Ingrid to shame.
Were wyvern lords this good in Fates? I remember Camilla being pretty strong but I also remember my pegasus knights being not shit by comparison like in this game.

You get a bunch of bonus renown when you start, from what I’ve heard it’s enough to instantly max out your prof level. My guess is they do this so people can further customize their ng+ experience. Instantly having a+ prof is a massive advantage some people may not want to have.

Because the game was super easy up to that point to make it not needed. Only Nemesis and the dragon boss in that one paralogue are actually difficult enemies, the rest of the game is pretty dang easy.

Then, after chapter 12, you will get the choice to betray or join Edelgard. If you didn't go with her to the Empire you can only betray her.

Byleth doesn't really excel at any one thing, it's just sword of the creator is broken. By end game sublime heaven has like 80% chance to crit for well over 200 damage which is enough to one turn almost anything that doesn't have multiple health bars.
Outside of spamming that one broken combat art I feel like there are other units that are more powerful in Three Houses.

They equip automatically and you can't equip two of any item at once but you can hold multiple in inventory and switch them each turn if you want.

Anyone with a crest can safely use a crest item, but you need the matching crest for their special skill to work. If someone without a crest uses a crest item they take 10 damage every turn.

I see, but still, sometimes just having access to a busted weapon and make good use of it can make wonders to a unit (for example, Sigurd and the Silver and Brave swords).

You can get some really stupid shit with second generation Awakening units+pair up, but that's not really a single character, so it could be argued that it doesn't count. That said anything that allows for Galeforce to activate twice in one turn on the same bundle of stats deserves a special mention.

A lot of the Furry nobles like Tibarn and Nualia from Radiant Dawn are stupid busted, especially in the chapters you get them for. Nualia in the final chapter of Radiant Dawn part 1 is basically invincible. Same goes for the playable Burger King. For non-special units from the same game, Haar almost feels like a case of developer oversight. His growths are so busted that even archers don't give him much pause. He starts out fine, but he's a definite contender for "Strongest in the series" by the end.

Lysethia is a good character, sure, but her growths aren't even the best in her game. IMO Byleth beats her out by sheer virtue of his utility as a character.

Yes, sometimes they are much less broken than others as they don't have uber canto and must dismount in indoor maps. They are naturally semi-balanced by being few in number so you have to use some non-mounted units with them, but with reclassing there is no reason not to use them. They have never been this busted because in older games you could atleast use them to ferry movelets to the front lines. Now non-mounted classes literally can't keep up.

All the best spells in the game have 1-3 casts before class boosts. None of the mounted caster classes get 2x spell buffs. For physical units mounted all the way but for casters especially Dorothea or anyone that gets warp/meteor I would say stay as a warlock/bishop/gremory over dark knight/holy knight.

Anyone with an axe is great in Three Houses. Stick them on a wyvern and they become a mobile platform of destruction that make any "defeat the commanders" mission a breeze. Brawlers are also really good, getting to attack four times with a 60% crit chance every time is amazing.

Warlock gets tomefaire as well and a bigger mag boost. Dark Knight is only good for dark magic characters that don't benefit from black tomefaire. 2x black magic casts is too good for characters with good low cast spells like thoron, meteor, agnea's arrow, etc.

There is no reason to go Dark Mage over Mage. Stat growths are identical (dark mages are actually marginally worse, they lack a +5% charm growth rate) and the mastery skills are far worse

The only reason you want overkill is incase your magic gets halfed as you are using his magic range +2 relic. Lysentia is a meme because doing 45 damagex2 is functionally the same as doing 25 if the enemy only has 50 HP.

If you like the cast of the Golden Deer, I'd suggest playing them first. They have the most lore centric plot, though they might not end up being your favourite, and it makes a good foundation for the other routes.
