Technically it is, in that compared to Medivial Europe, Fuedal Japan, and modern settings, Egypt is very underused, but it, Greece/Rome, and Vikings are by far the most single common historical setting after that. So it's less that it's underused and more europe/japan/modern stuff is overused

If you want ACTUAL underused, equally interesting settings that still have complex civilizations, there's so many more. Even just the ones pre: 16th century, there's:

>2800 years in Mesoamerica from the early Olmec cities and the spread of civilization in the preclassic, the prominence of Teotihuacan & Golden age of the Maya and the Zapotec during the classic, the Mixtec and Toltec succeeding the Zapotec and Teotihuacan in the early postclassic, and the rise of the Aztec empire in the Toltec's stead and their rivalrly with the Purepecha empire in the late Postclassic

And then there's god knows how much more if you include semi-complex groups like the indo-european chiefdoms in the british isles and germanic tribes in central europe, the cheifdoms and proto-cities of the American southwest and central america, and probably a ton of shit all over asia; or stuff past the 17th century since by then coillionization has civilization in most of the world. And there's litterally fucking infinite amount of settings if you include tribal cultures.

So yeah, Egypt might be "underused", but it's one of the most overused of underused settings.,
