>rely on Patreon money for years to make your game >promise a Steam release, and then all of a sudden sign an exclusivity deal with EGS at the last minute >Act like snide and arrogant cunts towards anyone that is angry about this, including the patrons that kept your ass afloat this entire time. >call everyone toxic and entitled, meanwhile you still siphon $2000 of Patreon money despite getting an Epic paycheck >say that a Patreon backer isn't owed the game, because EGS doesn't support his country's currency. Even though he has been giving you money to make the fucking game for years >complain about death threats when everyone calls you a cunt for all of the above.
No matter your opinion on Epic or Steam, can we at least all agree that the devs of Ooblets are fucking cunts?
It's like someone took Viva Piñata and made Pokemon rape it. Then had a Stephen Universe artist draw the whole thing.
Liam Long
Who cares
Julian Butler
This I dont understand how anyone can back this shit in the first place this fucking artstyle just screams shallow indie tumblr shit.
Landon Phillips
you cared enough to reply
Chase Stewart
your parents dont care about you
Hudson Phillips
imagine being upset as you are because a game is on another (free) 300mb platform
Luis Miller
you look at that art style and tell me that the devs aren't pretentious cunts
Logan Wilson
>promise a Steam release Source
Jacob Fisher
Hopefully this will let people learn about the savage nature of man, and that giving money to any project in kickstarter, patreon, et al, is essentially the same as giving money to a homeless guy. It's an act of charity, so don't expect anything in return.
Joseph Brooks
Imagine thinking backing a storefront that literally doesn't even have a shopping cart feature is a good idea.
Juan Cook
imagine relying on outrage advertising to sell your game instead of the actual merit of the game just says how shit the actual game is
Wyatt Lee
it really makes me wonder what these autists do when they play an old game that forces you to install Punkbustr or OpenAL or some shit like that. Do they type up a really angry rant about "muh consumer rights and industrial terrorism"
Grayson Jones
This i don't know why every western indie artist insist on doing adventure time calarts tier shit,
Christopher Fisher
They literally described that steam drones are mentally ill and got their proof. >fake screenshots >Creating fake stories on discord to spread propaganda (malaysia dad stuff) >Making fucking fake videos to defend fake screenshots like wtf >And some mentally ill people still defending it
Ian Reyes
I actually did not know this about EGS until just a bit ago. I can’t believe they expect people to gravitate towards their platform.
Nolan Scott
Imagine caring
Nathan Ross
>can we at least all agree that the devs of Ooblets are fucking cunts? Of course. And because of that I'm seeing lots of free advertising here.
Looks like numale tranny shit from ten miles away. Anyone who backed this deserves what they got.
William Robinson
>launch steam >click play >play game >launch epic >click play >play game quit being intellectually dishonest and pretending these are competing products and not just shitty DRM wrappers selling different products. if Kroger doesn't sell a box of cereal you want you're not gonna boycott Walmart just because they're not Kroger.
Hudson James
>like clockwork
Noah Taylor
None of it is fake though. Keep coping, tranny.
Easton Gonzalez
>acting all smug from one (you) for your tepid bait
Luis Morris
Who the fuck wants to buy this indie trash anyway? What type of fucking name is OOBLETS Who fucking cares what gamer store it's on. Who the fuck unitonically uses patreon to give other people money.
Benjamin Watson
Kroger isn't going to ban me from the store if come and go repeatedly to buy cereal. Because they don't have shopping carts, you absolute retard. Steam has serious problems but pretending that Epic isn't a scam is just being willfully ignorant.
Grayson Roberts
I still don't understand that utter piece of crap in the twitter backlash thread going on about how EGS is a godsend to indie developers and they welcome this.....that's probably the worst thing to come out of this whole debacle in my eyes.
The day when indie game devs are no longer out there to make a game for the people and just expect this sort of thing is coming the way I see it.
Juan Stewart
>Give people money on empty promises >They don't fulfill them When will faggots stop doing this?
Jonathan Hall
Imagine thinking this warrants a muslim-level shitstorm.
CEO of Epic has been defending the autistic shitfit from the devs of this piece of shit game. Literally shitting on customers and pretending they're the victim for it. If you don't think that's a serious red flag not to trust them, that's on you. A dumbass and his money, and all that.
Jaxon Lee
that girl looks like she belongs in a drug commercial for depression or some shit
Charles Ortiz
>banning >it was temporal blocking of your credit card because of protection Stop believing Reddit memes
>Temporal blocking A card block that transcends TIME ITSELF
Liam Watson
>this stupid meme again your bank or credit card company will lock anyone out on any store if you make 5+ separate purchases in the span of like 30 seconds as an anti fraud measure. the entire reason this was a thing was because the dude who did it, did it intentionally with tabs open ready to buy everything in the span of seconds. if you buy products like a normal human and not a goddamn autoscript bot nothing will happen. a store cant do anything to your fucking card itself
There's a world of difference between distrust and hate mails or review bombs user.
Grayson Richardson
Some deluded brainlet just bought like 7 copies at the same time and cries about shopping carts because retard is too incompetent to buy one game at time
Noah Gutierrez
>your bank or credit card company will lock anyone out on any store if you make 5+ separate purchases in the span of like 30 seconds as an anti fraud measure. >a store cant do anything to your fucking card itself wow if only there was a way to buy multiple products at once
Justin King
It's the typical low effort tranny art style.
Landon Perry
Why should I waste my time buying things one at a time? Especially online?
Logan Wilson
>did it intentionally
It was multiple people who got locked, and they did that because they DIDN'T HAVE SHOPPING CARTS TO MASS PURCHASE THINGS DURING A SALE. Epic has more than enough money from how much Fortnite gave them. Let alone all the times people purchased licenses for Unreal Engine. It is inexcusable. Suck a cock, Tencent shill. Eat your rice and shut the fuck up.
Jaxson King
We should support consumer friendly valve, who gave us always online DRM, account based license purchases instead of installers, early access, 0 store curation letting literal bitminers be sold, loot boxes, and paid mods.
Austin Bennett
Because it's a fucking video game store not your weekly food
Luke Flores
nobody cares about your shitty second attempt at shilling a game on Yea Forums
And? It's my money and I can spend it how I want. If I want to buy more than one game at a time, ESPECIALLY DURING A FUCKING SALE, then I should be able to and not be punished for wanting to spend money in your store.
Henry Evans
OP here. I'm not shilling. Literally the exact opposite. Avoid this game like the plague. There is no way it will be good, and the devs are horrible people.
James Richardson
>I could buy each game I want like a human and have it take 3 minutes >or I could open 10 tabs and click buy on each in 10 seconds to get my card locked intentionally to create fake drama you people act like not having a cart is the end of fucking times, people dont buy goddamn videogames in bulk orders
Daniel Rodriguez
So it's THAT good? I guess I'll preorder it, thanks OP
You're really trying to defend the lack of a basic fucking feature literally every other online storefront has? Enjoy that Epic money, shill
Dylan Martinez
Post the pasta you know the one.
Landon Wilson
>website full of furries, weebs and trannys gee I wonder
Christian Collins
>pledging to paetron >giving kickstarter money >"buying" based on trailers and promises >pre-ordering if you do one of the above you don't deserve to complain about anything because you haven't signed any contract about the quality of the game, you freely threw cash away and you have NO ONE but yourself to blame if you can't see the obvious redflags like this artstyle, no only you don't have the right to cry about it, you also deserve it
There is no reason for it to take 3 minutes. There is literally no other store on the planet that forces you to select an item and then purchase it BEFORE you can purchase another product. Even at brick and mortar, you have shopping carts and can send items to the front to be held by cashiers. Every other website and competition website has this feature. Why not Epic? If they are trying to provide a competitive platform and claim they are user friendly and for the consumer then they should implement features that actually reflect this.
Aiden Nelson
I didn't defend anything, I'm telling you that the lack of a shopping cart is not the huge issue you seem to think it is, and any issues that could arise from it is easily avoided. Because you're a manchild you just whine about everything and massively exaggerated the actual situation. The lack of cloud saves is a much bigger deal than having to click "buy" on each page instead of "add to cart"
David Ward
You do realize it's more than just a button and there are psychological reasons to having a "Shopping Cart" versus just a "Buy" button?
the fucking Google play store on mobile doesn't have a shopping cart because people don't buy things on it in bulk quit pulling shit out your ass what, autism?
Adrian Lopez
>launch epic >let the dystopian chinese government monitor and collect all your private data, including bank information Some of us actually care about the survival of the western liberal democracy.
Charles Nelson
>comparing a cellphone app store to a dedicated website/launcher revolving around purchasing video games
Retard. Suck off Ooblets some more.
Adam Johnson
Why does Yea Forums suddenly care about this "tumblr art game that looks like shit and I wouldn't buy it" anyway? Lashing out like this is usually driven by... fear. A fear of what? That Steam won't be the premier place for PC games?
Or, is it more likely that you won't be able to "punish" the game by not buying it or leaving negative reviews until you get your way?
If you've ever read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Yea Forums reminds me of the AI who loves to torture and abuse the ones he thinks he has control over, but is instantly worried that he'll lose his play things forever.
>Why do you even care that these developers are just taking money from people and then saying they aren't obligated to give them anything!? You don't even like Epic!
Because letting this become a trend in the industry is just about the worst fucking idea imaginable.
Landon Gutierrez
hey dumbass don't know if you got the memo or are still stuck in 2003 but about 70000% more people use that cellphone app store
Charles Thomas
I hope you're not one of the retards that fell for this pasta.
David Davis
Exclusivitity wars belong to the console plebs not on the PC. Allow the game to be available on multiple platforms like GOG, Steam and even EGS. If the platform is sooo gooood then customers will come without having to buttfucked by lying developers who use their patreons as an interest free loan.
Jayden Clark
I'm sure you will get over it
Jonathan Ross
>COMPARING A FUCKING CELLPHONE APP STORE TO A WEBSITE/LAUNCHER DEDICATED TO BUYING VIDEO GAMES
Hey, dumbass, even fucking Walmart and Target have shopping carts for their websites.
Gabriel Turner
Its easy.
Benjamin Cruz
Doesn't iTunes have a shopping cart too
Brody Phillips
I wouldn't defend them but I would call you faggot for caring about this at all.
I never understood the shopping cart thing. Can someone please explain it to me in basic terms/. I really have not fucking clue what the functional difference between a shopping cart and no shopping cart is.
Joseph Campbell
>why do you even care!? Because pretending that this isn't a problem is for faggots
James Hill
>These are the people on Yea Forums that tell me Epic is bad
i don't remember steam forbiding devs to sell their shit on other stores/platforms
Christopher Cooper
Shopping carts for websites is literally just marking multiple items to purchase at once. EGS doesn't have that, so you have to go through the entire payment process each time you want to buy something. This can be a problem during a sale, where you want to buy a large amount of items in a short period of time. Because it literally caused people's cards to get flagged for potential fraud
Adrian Turner
Regardless of the Epic shills trying to downplay this, I just want you all to remember why this is a horrible decision for the devs. Epic is NOT going to fund a second game from them unless they can prove the product will have value, and the only way to do that is with a successful kickstarter, now why in gods name would anyone want to give these devs money after what they've been pulling this past week? They will never be able to secure funding for a second game ever again
No shopping cart = can only buy one thing at a time
Ryder Campbell
I see. Thanks.
Jonathan Taylor
instead of giving hrt to people that want to transition they make em play this game you'll pass for sure after a few sessions prolly the most gay shit i've ever seen
Are these people aware that the only reason they aren't in jail is because laws haven't caught up to the digital age yet?
Oliver Foster
Holy fucking shit you can't be this retarded right? You have to compare a store with the UI of a phone in mind with several different forms of media to even begin to make Epic look good.
>fat incel >console migrant >Tumblr user add some furries and you got the entire steamdrone checklist
Juan Perry
>there is NO STORE ON THE PLANET THAT DOES THIS >THAT STORE THAT DOES THIS AND IS RUN BY ONE OF THE BIGGEST CORPORATIONS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD DOESNT COUNT
Justin Sanders
Holy shit you weren't baiting, holy hell you're too far gone to argue with, you actually don't understand the basic concept of people buying more than one thing at once during a sale to the point that you have to compare it to a wildly different type of system that never has universal sales nd functions entirely differently. Get help man, your double-digit IQ is showing
Google has sales, are you even old enough to own a phone?
Wyatt Jenkins
One store, while literally everything else on the internet does. Once again, even fucking Walmart has a shopping cart feature for the website.
Nicholas Ramirez
You would have to be one sad, dysfunctional fuck to worry about everything as inconsequential as this. The 16 people who wanted to buy more than one game out of that shit catalog during that ONE sale have probably already forgotten about it, you should as well.
Leo Brown
If it wasn't a big deal, then why do you Epic shills have to constantly say it's not a problem?
Daniel Reed
I actually think the mushrooms are pretty adorable, but everything else just looks like cookiecutter tumblr shit.
Matthew Bell
Copypasta or not, he's right that it's ridiculous how Yea Forums pretends to care about the game all of a sudden. If you check the archive, there was maybe 5 ooblets threads in the last 2 years. But ever since some EGS shit-stirrer posted the exclusivity blogpost here, you guys have been at it non-stop. Check it out: boards.fireden.net/v/search/text/ooblets/type/op/
>early access Wasn't Minecraft the first early access game? >0 store curation letting literal bitminers be sold, loot boxes Desura and itch.io did it earlier. GamersGate barely is above them.
Chase Brooks
Wow, they can afford groceries for a week.
Jayden Bailey
"Any publicity is good publicity" doesn't work if you're selling a product. Nobody would buy Coke if the drink made you piss blood, and the company called everyone Nazis when they complained about it.
Luis Collins
that hasnt been true for the last 50 years.
Cooper Butler
>All publicity is good publicity >Meanwhile the devs are runnign damage control on shoving gamers in ovens Really makes you think
Source on the devs saying all this to the backers/fans/etc? What did they say?
Liam Hughes
Basically nobody's aware.
Daniel Mitchell
I'm not chiming in to say it's not a problem. I'm chiming in to say you are a faggot for getting worked up over something that will have no discernible effect on any day of your life.
literally the post above you. People are claiming it is fake (epic and the devs) no one else thinks its fake. it is exactly in line with the other released official communications the devs have given us of their own accord.
Dylan Butler
>one backs down from public pressure >the other declares that only developers matter They are competing products, both shitty but one is worse.
Trying what? to tell the user what is happening? That is what is happening.
Easton Hill
>The devs
You mean the real dev's retarded husband who takes care of the 'business' side of the company
Aaron Adams
I can't blame an indie dev for taking a good deal from EGS. Indie game development is oversaturated and there isn't much of a future for many devs out there. Being a cunt about it is the real issue.
Charles Ross
>Being harassed for being stupid is the same as being harassed for being black Man, these fanboys really understand the struggle.
Jose Barnes
>no one else thinks its fake that a dev said gas the gamers in DISCORD and nobody reacted >saying gas the gamers is in line with saying gamers are entitled You're on one.
James Jones
They have 1,102 patrons on patreon. This is down from 1,192. Meaning they lost a mere 90 patrons after all this "bad" publicity. But you have to remember that many of those who dropped probably did so due to the Epic deal itself, and not in reaction to the bad pub. So you have less than 8% losses from Patreon supporters. These are the people most dedicated to the cause. They are your hardcore supporters. And the vast majority of them remain supportive even after you got a publisher.
OK, so now think of it on a wider scope: You have potentially hundreds of thousands of people who never heard of your game before. But now the supposed bad publicity is being pushed in their faces. These people who were certainly never going to buy the game, because they never heard of it, are now potential buyers. How many of them do you think will care about the things you said? More than 8% or less than 8%? I would say less than 8%. Because the wider audience is even less invested than the patreons. They won't feel the insult as much as patron would. Therefore, they won't feel scorned enough to dismiss the game outright. They'll just see if the game looks fun to play or not.
And you also have to keep in mind that the pervasive narrative, is that the Ooblets were under attack by "trolls" and "entitled gamers" with "death threats". The casual audience will look at this as just angry incels attacking well meaning indie devs, and nothing more.
So while the stand to lose about 8% of potential buyers, what does that mean when you've increased potential buyers by 100K? Like, you still have about 92K more people than you did before the drama.
There isn't much of a future for any dev that doesn't belong to the top corporations. Should they all sell out? Do we have Disney buy them all?
Jace Jenkins
I don't think this is an accurate analogy but it's certainly an amusing one
Jayden Young
But no one thinks its a fake screenshot. No one.
Julian Flores
I can totally blame an indie taking a deal without first considering those who supported them.
Xavier Sanchez
Steam is gay as fuck for all the bullshit that came with the takeover of digital distribution, but I'm not about to install chink spyware
Levi Sanchez
This is some manufactured as fuck outrage. Who even gives a solid shit about this game?
James Anderson
>"I don't like what your doing with this game and I think it's pretty underhanded to mess the people who contributed to the project." >Y-Yeah? Well Y-You wouldn't have liked the game anyway, it's not for YOUR demographic!
It's cute that he calls everyone entitled babies for getting mad about this and yet he openly admits his expected audience is little kids who have to buy this through mom and dad and literally have no say in the matter.
As someone who is currently from the server, there's 2,000+ subs but only like ~70 people are talking. I wouldn't take anything based on hard numbers seriously, especially when there's people like me who are there to watch the fireworks go down.
Seriously, it's really entertaining. 5 days of 24/7 drama as both sides talk down to one another for not sharing an opinion. Probably the best things these people ever made, way more entertaining than the game was supposed to be.
Landon Hughes
Except that the only people talking about the "threats" and "trolls" are the devs and shill journalists. Regular paying people are talking about the real issue, which is the terrible PR. And if you're trying to sell a product, bad PR is a nightmare.
Jose Nguyen
>>promise a Steam release, and then all of a sudden sign an exclusivity deal with EGS at the last minute Is that why it has a steam store page?
Jordan White
Who the fuck cares, it is literally a game for little girls
"Regular" paying people read journalist sites to inform their decisions, or go by word of mouth. You have to understand that the patreon only has 1,102 supporters. But when the game is released, it could potentially reach 100K or higher, depending on how much publicity it gets. And publicity is controlled by the journos.
So when joe schmoe is thinking about buying Ooblets, he'll look up some reviews, and he might notice some articles in the search results "Ooblet devs receive death threats." or he'll see some user reviews on the steam page "Devs are rude, do not support." And it will mean nothing to him.
Ian Bailey
You're assuming that the average person is even interested in this game in the first place, especially when the game's not even planned to come out for the next year or two, especially when the average normie and journo has the attention span of an insect.
By the time the game comes out, nobody will give a shit, so it'll just sink to the bottom like the rest of Epic's exclusives do, except it won't even have a wave to ride on since the devs are too incompetent to take advantage of the situation by putting it out there before
Anthony Baker
Every time you make one of these stupid threads you're just advertising for them.
Brayden White
A game where you farm your own pokemon squad and then battle them? A game that is a cross between pokemon, stardew valley, and donut county? People definitely are interested in this. It's only a matter of getting the word of it out there. Making it known.
Ian Ward
>chinks subsidizing SJWs who openly insult the customer and make what appears to be a dreadful product just another reason to hate commies. imagine any other industry where the company openly shits on the potential customer getting away with it--actually, Hollywood does, and Hollywood is also being kept afloat entirely by chinkbux.
Grayson James
Why would anyone play this game when there are better alternatives available that haven't destroyed their PR by making dumbass comments and/or selling out to Epic?
You really overestimate how many people are going to give a shit about this game in the time it takes the devs to push it out the door.
Caleb Watson
you do all realise that no one would have ever even heard of this game if it wasn't for this controversy right? honestly seems like they did the right thing by making you faggots sperg out.
who gives a fuck about this shit game
Jackson Barnes
I think it's obvious that people are naturally attracted to these style of games. The PR is going to put the game in people's minds. And good that they're delaying it, because the drama will fade, but the journos will remember its existence.
Parker Scott
>game devs >being whiny obnoxious cunts
Colour me surprised. The entire gaming community is a fucking sespit, but indie devs are next level
Gabriel Nelson
They're not even delaying it, they've just been dragging their asses getting it out the door.
You also don't seem to understand that these types of games are dime a dozen and that the drama surrounding this game is going to be a giant elephant in the room whenever anyone brings up the game from this point forward.
Hell, I'd imagine the drama will just restart again if the game flops (as is typical for these types of games) or if they try to double down harder in regards to the situation.
Blake Richardson
>who gives a fuck about this shit game This
Mason Jackson
>your bank or credit card company will lock anyone out on any store if you make 5+ separate purchases in the span of like 30 seconds as an anti fraud measure. Thankfully I don't need 5+ separate purchases to buy 5+ separate games on Steam, so this isn't a hurdle I need to clear. >a store cant do anything to your fucking card itself Wrong. Years ago Paypal fucked up and sent ten "verification holds" ($1 each) to my debit card in rapid succession, triggering an automatic fraud prevention hold on the card. Any vendor with a merchant account that processes credit cards can do the same thing if they screw something up.
Christian Nelson
meanwhile the dev says on twitter that this video is fake and can't even prove it
