The examples provided are all things that are both very popular and also objectively awful representations of their media. That doesn't mean that everything that is popular is also bad, it just debunks your one and only argument as to the quality of smash as a fighting game.

I actually enjoyed watching all of the games that I could catch during EVO. Tempted to try out Tekken 7 after all this time since I keep seeing matches but always hold onto finally playing it for some reason.

Why are Tekkenfags so seething and desperate to lash out at Street Fighter? Really feels like they spend more time talking about Street Fighter than any SF player has ever even thought about Tekken.

it's the best selling because all the kids and adults want/buy it. doesn't mean it's not the laughing stock of the games it's compared to. I mean, would the party game meme really be as big of a thing as it was if it wasn't somewhat true? smash is good at being a fun game with friends, and that's it.

SF fan here, but I also like Tekken
Tekken deserves the credit for having the best fighter at the moment.
SFV has a bit too much of a rock-paper-scissor gameplay and they really went overboard with the joke characters. Tekken 7 retains a level of seriousness and manliness that suits the genre, gameplay is fun too.
Also SFV shipped as a broken incomplete mess and even after that they have the audacity to put out some of the worst milking DLC ever seen in a fighting game.
SF fans really have no ground to act mad at Tekken right now, it's simply better

I don't like SFV, but I really feel bad for Capcom fans. Everyone got some hype reveal (even if BBTag's leaked) and SFV's not only leaked, but was also very underwhelming compared to other reveals.

>SNK gives out free DLC, characters from the top of popularity polls and teastes new KOF
>Babytag announces 9 new characters
>SC gets a new season with 4 characters, customization packs and new mechanics

Just to clarify: Tekken 7 gets basic features that were in Street Fighter V from Day 1, 3 YEARS after release, but for some reason catching up to SFV is somehow a victory for Tekken? Its season pass gives you measly 3 characters and a stage while SFV gets 6 characters per season plus multiple stages - all of which can be earned for free technically.

Shit like this only proves that hating Capcom is the cool thing to do right now.

Durring season 2 of KI. Some Darkstalkersfags were really piss baby that KI was having the better choice of a actual monster fighter that didn't highly need to pander too their waifufag needs to be noticed.

I'd rather have waited for SFV than have bought it at launch with it's all time god-awful roster and DLC that makes you play single player and handcuffs you to the game if you don't want to buy DLC.

SFVAE is a solid game and I enjoyed Top 8 even though I didn't watch Pools or Semis because so many other games were going on. I just bounced off of it halfway through S2 because they put out Abigail, a dream come true for a big body main like myself, and he still didn't get me to love the game.

I grew up playing Tekken before any other major fighting game series; I had 2&3 for PS1 and I put a lot of time into Tag, whereas I didn't get into 2D games until the late 00s with SamSho II on Virtual Console and the re-release of MvC2 since I was into comics at the time. I ended up preferring 2D games, but I still played T6 & Tag 2. I've played 7 but I realized that I can't get used to what is fundamental in it compared to 2D games (even when I tried to play Akuma/Eliza/Geese). I know it's as simple as learning your characters 8-12 best buttons and combos from each of the starters among them but I never got into the rhythm of it. I get the "feel" of Soul Calibur a little better (and it helps that Astaroth is more of a big body grappler than King, who I love to play but doesn't really fall into that archetype as cleanly) but still not as much as 2D games. If Haohmaru transitions as faithfully as T7's guests though, then maybe I'll finally "click" with that game.

The Azezel arm is cool and her fighting style is underrepresented in fighting games. Street Fighter has the fortune teller waifu game on lock though, Rose & Menat are both 10/10s.
